Chapter 62: Metal Zombie
The next day, two vehicles drove out of the villa area.

One was a Hummer and the other was a Mercedes AMG G63.

On the Hummer’s passenger seat, Qin Wu was looking at several A4 papers.

“We should be able to reach Yejia village before nightfall.” She said.

Yejia village was close to the base.

However, it was an unpopular place because several superpower teams had disappeared there.

Of the thirteen tasks that the team chose, one was to investigate Yejia and determine the cause of the disappearances.

“Brother Chenxuan, what do you think is going on in Yejia village?” Qin Wu asked.

“It’s probably a powerful zombie or mutant.” Mo Chenxuan said with a thoughtful expression.

“We should try to get there as early as possible. It’s not a good idea to stay there for the night without knowing what is going on.”

“I think so too.” Qin Wu couldn’t help but frown.

Although Yejia was not far, the roads were not good.

She didn’t know if their team could get there before dark.

“Don’t worry too much.” Mo Chenxuan soothed, rubbing his woman’s hair.

“I know.” Qin Wu sighed and quickly continued.

“We can camp outside if we are too late to arrive in the village.”

After that, the two cars drove on narrow lanes and successfully exited the base through the south gate.

Similar to when they first arrived in the base, the entrance was filled with people and cars.

Some seemed to have just arrived while others should have spent the night outside, after failing to enter the previous day.

Looking at the people, Qin Wu sighed and looked away.

“What’s wrong?” Mo Chenxuan asked.

“I am just thinking that these people have jumped from the pot and into the fire pit. The city B base is not a good place for ordinary survivors.”

“There will be a turning point soon.”

“How can you be so sure?”

“Even a rabbit bites when cornered. Sooner rather than later, the ordinary survivors will be forced to jump over the wall.”

Hearing this, Qin Wu sighed and chose to change the subject.

“Brother Chenxuan, about that person…” She started and Mo Chenxuan nodded.

“I plan to recruit him.”

The person in question was Qi Shu.

Before the apocalypse, Qi Shu was a new graduate of the C institute of Technology.

This time, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu planned to finance Qi Shu.

With their support, Qi Shu would be free to implement his ideas and apocalypse technology would emerge earlier than their previous life.

“Do you think he will agree?” Qin Wu asked and Mo Chenxuan nodded.

“I have asked uncle Zhang to talk to him. Recruiting him shouldn’t be a big problem.”

“Qi Shu is a genius and his technology will revolutionise the apocalypse. He will become a fat sheep when that happens.”

“I know what you mean.” Mo Chenxuan said and a trace of ruthlessness flashed in his eyes.

Qi Shu was a nobody.

However, this status was only temporary.

After making some achievements, other forces would notice him and most would either try to recruit him or eliminate him.

Mo Chenxuan understood all this but he didn’t change his mind.

“We will find a way to protect him.” He said.

Ideally, their team should have laid a better foundation in the base before going on missions.

However, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu didn’t dare to take their time because the oil refinery mission would soon be released.

Because of this consideration, the two even delayed their personal affairs in exchange for levelling up their team.

Thinking of this, Mo Chenxuan looked at Qin Wu with an aggrieved expression and the woman chuckled in amusement.

“I am…” She started but suddenly stopped.

Soon after, she powered up a walkie-talkie and a pleasant voice came from the other end.

“Sister Qin?” Lin Rongrong called.

“Rongrong, there is a group of zombies up ahead. Get ready to fight.”

“Got it.” Lin Rongrong said and quickly continued.

“How many?”

“About three hundred.”

After relaying the information, Qin Wu turned to Mo Chenxuan.

“Brother Chenxuan, the zombies ahead….”

“Mmh.” Mo Chenxuan nodded.

With his spiritual abilities, Mo Chenxuan had a better grasp of the situation than Qin Wu.

While Qin Wu could determine the number of zombies, she couldn’t tell their level but Mo Chenxuan could.

“Most are level one but there are at least ten level two.”

“Ten.” Qin Wu couldn’t help but frown.

She and Mo Chenxuan were level two superpowers and could easily kill level two zombies.

However, Xu Fei and Lin Rongrong were only level one superpowers and couldn’t deal with level two zombies.

Facing such a large horde of zombies, Qin Wu felt it would be a little dangerous.

However, she didn’t think of turning back.

After all, iron must endure being burned before turning into steel.

Knowing this, she could only grit her teeth and prepare to fight.

Six minutes later, Mo Chenxuan stopped at a roadside and Xu Fei did the same.

After everyone got out of their cars, Qin Wu collected the cars and the four huddled together.

“It seems the army and superpowers have cleared the zombies up to this point.” Qin Wu said and the others nodded in agreement.

They hadn’t encountered zombies since they left the base.

Now that they had, they naturally couldn’t ignore the horde and just go their way.

“Wu’er and I will deal with the level two zombies. Focus on the level one zombies.” Mo Chenxuan said, looking at Xu Fei and Lin Rongrong.

“We know, brother Mo.” Lin Rongrong nodded.

After that, Mo Chenxuan secretly coated his team with a layer of spiritual power before he and Qin Wu rushed towards their target.

Qin Wu faced a male zombie.

The zombie looked to be a middle-aged man and had bronze skin that shone with the morning sun.

Before the zombie could react, a silver crescent rushed towards it and unambiguously landed on its neck.

However, the result wasn’t what Qin Wu expected.

Rather than seeing a severed head, Qin Wu heard a loud ‘clang’ and an annoyed grunt.

‘Metal ability?’ She wondered and unleashed another space slash.

Unfortunately, the result was the same and Qin Wu couldn’t help but frown.

At the same time, she dashed to the side and tried to decapitate the zombie from another angle.

However, the zombie was a veritable fortress and could easily withstand her siege.

‘Not good.’ She thought.

While she was trying to attack the target, the zombie was sensing her and trying to get to her.

Simultaneously, some other zombies were also rushing towards Qin Wu, wanting to trap her in the middle of their encirclement.

‘I can’t let them trap me.’ She thought and acted without hesitation.

Although she couldn’t deal with the metal zombie, she could easily cut down the approaching zombies.

In less than ten seconds, she killed several zombies and opened a gap in the encirclement.

Soon after, she retreated through this gap and exited the encirclement.

“Wu’er, are you okay?” Mo Chenxuan asked.

“I am fine.” Qin Wu said.

Although she was a little annoyed that she couldn’t deal with the metal zombie, she didn’t stay down for too long.

While thinking of ways to deal with the zombie, she continued killing the surrounding zombies.

However, the metal zombie had already identified its prey and rushed towards Qin Wu.

At the same time, it grunted loudly and the surrounding zombies became more energetic.

“Bastard.” Qin Wu cursed but a thought suddenly crossed her mind.

So far, she had tried severing the zombie’s neck and cutting its limbs.

However, she hadn’t tried piercing its head through its eyes.

Thinking of this, Qin Wu didn’t hesitate.

Because she didn’t want to give the zombie a chance to react, she teleported in front of it and hastily unleashed a water thorn into its right eye.

Instantaneously, the zombie roared and angrily punched towards Qin Wu.

Although the metal zombie was not dead, blue-grey brain matter was oozing out of its right eye.
