Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse - Chapter 74
Chapter 74: New Teammates
“Young master, young madam.” Uncle Zhang greeted as soon as the team arrived.
“Uncle Zhang.” Qin Wu greeted and quickly continued.
“Did anything happen while we were away?”
“As a matter of fact, …”
Soon after, three people were led into the villa’s sitting room.
These people were Lu Hao, Lu Yanyan, and Xiao Junxie.
“Sister Qin, sister Rongrong.” Lu Yanyan called and happily ran towards Qin Wu.
“I haven’t seen Yanyan for a few days but she has grown taller.” Qin Wu smiled and removed her mask.
Seeing this, Mo Chenxuan and the others also removed their masks.
‘So good looking.’ Xiao Junxie thought, looking at the team.
He didn’t expect the four masked people to be so good-looking.
At the same time, he praised their insight.
After all, good-looking people were rare in the apocalypse.
If the four people blatantly revealed their face, they would likely encounter a disaster.
However, Xiao Junxie misunderstood the team.
Originally, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu wore masks because they wanted to hide their identity in city T.
After that, masks became somewhat of a habit and the Xu couple followed them to wear them.
In the end, the masks had now become a trademark of their team and new members would likely also wear them.
That said, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu were not afraid of being coveted.
If anyone dared to think about them, they would make sure the culprit died without leaving a complete corpse.
“Brother Mo…” Lu Hao called, looking a little embarrassed.
When he and Yanyan parted with the group, Mo Chenxuan invited them to visit and possibly join the team.
However, Lu Hao had not only brought Yanyan but also Xiao Junxie.
Seeing the person’s embarrassment, Mo Chenxuan sighed and pointed at the sofa.
“Sit down first.” He said.
From what uncle Zhang said, Lu Hao, Lu Yanyan, and Xiao Junxie arrived a few days ago.
Because Mo Chenxuan had told the Zhang’s about Lu Hao and Lu Yanyan, uncle Zhang didn’t turn the three away.
Instead, he settled them in the servants’ quarter and asked them to wait for the team to return.
“Brother Mo, this is my good friend, Xiao Junxie. We used to be in the same unit.” Lu Hao introduced and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
“I have heard a lot about Mr. Mo.” Xiao Junixe said, his lips curled in a polite smile.

“It’s nice to meet you.” Mo Chenxuan said.
“Brother Mo…”
“What happened?”
“The army is not what it used to be.” Lu Hao said and began explaining.
After talking about Wei Gui and the water issuer, he sighed and turned to Mo Chenxuan.
“I am unwilling to stay in such an army. If possible, I would like to join brother Mo’s team.”
When they heard everything, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu glanced at each other.
A moment later, Mo Chenxuan looked at Lu Hao with a solemn expression.
“Our team is not a champion for justice. We won’t go out of our way to help people and we won’t risk our lives for strangers.” He bluntly stated.
“I know.” Lu Hao smiled and then continued.
“I know you won’t go out of your way to help people but the opposite is also true. You won’t take the initiative to harm people and when possible, you won’t be unwilling to help others.”
After saying that, Lu Hao sighed and continued talking.
“The world has changed and old rules no longer apply. No one can be a champion for justice in this era. The best one can do is make sure they don’t make the situation worse.”
“What does Mr. Xiao mean?” Qin Wu suddenly asked, looking at Xiao Junxie.
Xiao Junxie didn’t know what to say.
He originally asked Lu Hao to bring him along.
However, he didn’t know the team.
Although Lu Hao and Lu Yanyan vouched for the team, Xiao Junxie couldn’t decide without observing a little.
“I have just left the army and can’t make major life decisions for the time being.”
Qin Wu snorted when she heard that.
“Is Mr. Xiao treating my home as a half-way house?” She asked, her eyes narrowed into slits.
Xiao Junxie was startled when he heard that.
However, when he recalled his words, he also felt his attitude was not right.
After all, the team did not owe him anything.
What right did he have to ask them to house him while he was figuring his shit out?
After figuring it out, Xiao Junxie couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.
Fortunately, he was neither an arrogant nor entitled person.
Since he was in the wrong, he naturally chose to apologise.
“I apologise. My words didn’t come out right.” He said and Qin Wu nodded.
Although she was a little dissatisfied with Xiao Junxie, his apology was sincere so she didn’t make things difficult for him.
After that, Qin Wu removed two masks from her space.
“This one is for you and the other is for Yanyan.” She said, handing the masks to the respective people.
“Can Yanyan also join?” Lu Yanyan asked in an excited voice.
Although she had a powerful ice ability, she rarely went to kill zombies because her uncle was usually preoccupied with army missions.
Seeing that Qin Wu gave her mask, she naturally hoped she would get more chances to use her ability.
“Our team doesn’t raise idle people.” Qin Wu said, pinching the little girl’s cheek.
“Yanyan will work hard.” The girl promised and everyone burst into laughter.
“Sister Qin, thank you.” Lu Hao said but Qin Wu waved her hand in dismissal.
From what Mo Chenxuan said, Lu Hao and Lu Yanyan would become very powerful.
Most importantly, the few of them got along well and the addition of the uncle and niece would only strengthen but not disrupt the team.
Overall, everyone gained something.
That said, Qin Wu turned to Mo Chenxuan, not sure how to handle Xiao Junxie.
However, unlike Qin Wu, Mo Chenxuan wasn’t so entangled and knew exactly what to do.
“We will go on another mission in two days.” He started, looking at Xiao Junxie with a serious face.
“I understand.” Xiao Junxie nodded and quickly continued.
“I would like to join the mission if possible.”
“Good.”
Without another word, Mo Chenxuan stood up, held Qin Wu’s hand and gestured uncle Zhang to follow them to the study.
After entering the study, uncle Zhang closed the door behind him and looked at his young master.
“How did it go?” He asked but uncle Zhang sighed and shook his head.
“I tried my best but it wasn’t possible.”
“What happened?”
“Someone was faster than us.” Uncle Zhang said with a grim face.
“After the young master left, I found Qi Shu and asked him to join our faction. However, the Chu family had already gotten to him. He rejected all our provisions.”
Qin Wu frowned when she heard that.
“He accepted the Chu family’s offer even before the documents were retrieved?” She asked.
“It seems that way.” Uncle Zhang said with a thoughtful expression.
“What are you thinking?” Mo Chenxuan asked, looking at the old man.
“As expected, nothing can get past the young master.” Uncle Zhang smiled but soon turned solemn.
“I believe the young master already suspects what I am about to say.”
“Mmh.” Mo Chenxuan nodded and continued.
“We deliberately made a wedding dress for the Chu family’s team.” He said and uncle Zhang nodded.
“After Qi Shu rejected our offer, I investigated the circumstances surrounding his cooperation with the Chu family. The Chu family took the same mission but didn’t attempt to do it. They just waited for our team to deliver the documents and then claim the benefits.”
“I see.” Mo Chenxuan nodded but he became more and more convinced that Chu Wan’er was also reborn.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have acted so decisively to draw Qi Shu into her camp.
“This Chu family is abominable.” Qin Wu spoke through gritted teeth.
“Don’t be angry.” Mo Chenxuan said, rubbing Qin Wu’s hair.
Although missing Qi Shu was a big loss, Mo Chenxuan wasn’t too discouraged.
After all, their trip wasn’t a complete loss.
They not only harvested thousands of crystal cores, mutant plants, mutant beasts, and other supplies but also energy stones.
Compared to Qi Shu, Mo Chenxuan felt the energy stones were more important since they could produce energy beads that could be used universally at any superpower level.
As for scientists like Qi Shuo, Mo Chenxuan knew a few.
After his team upgraded its rank, he would lead everyone to recruit some of the good researchers he encountered in his previous life.
“This matter can be set aside for the time being.” Mo Chenxuan said and Qin Wu could only sigh.
Although she felt it was a pity not to recruit Qi Shu, there was nothing they could do.
After all, Qi Shu was an independent person and they couldn’t force him to join their team.
That said, she was glad Mo Chenxuan had the foresight to copy and record the person’s document.
While Qin Wu was thinking, uncle Zhang spoke again.
“Young master, there is another serious matter.” He said.
