Chapter 103: I want to be with you

Eveline pondered the reason behind Alex’s intense gaze. Being late, he had to sit apart from her when he got to the college.

However, he did not appear to be concealing his intentions from her by closely observing her.

However, Alex was incensed that his scheme to murder Gabriel had not worked and that the following day he had brought Eveline to the college.

His blood begins to boil upon seeing them together, and his desire for vengeance grows stronger by the moment.

He wanted to get rid of Gabriel right away because he had always been a barrier between him and Eveline. It would not be possible for him to be with Eveline without his intervention.

As the lesson went on, Alex was waiting patiently to reach out to Evelin. As soon as the bell rang, he gathered his belongings and went to her bench.

His arrival startled Eveline, but she quickly overcame her fear and grinned at him.

Though she was scared to be around him, she had to be brave enough to blend him into her lies and make him confess his crimes.

Eveline had long since realized that she was Alex’s weak point, and she did not want to mess with it because she knew he could snap at any moment if he discovered why she was doing it.

“How about we grab lunch together?” he said, trying to smile.

Eveline turned to face him, and then her gaze landed on his bandaged hand.

She asked, oblivious to his earlier remarks, “What happened to your hand?”

With a stuttering smile, Alex looked down at his hand, remembering the cut he got when he pulled the wire to adjust the brakes. Although it did not hurt, he ended up bleeding during the procedure.

“Oh, it’s nothing. I just got hurt,” he hurriedly said, reaching into his pocket.

She gave in to his lies, even though a chilly glint flashed across her eyes.

“I am sorry, Alex, but I do not think we could get lunch together. I have some work to finish,” she lied and his eyes darkened at her response.

Her rejection caught Alex off guard, and his first thought upon hearing it was whether she was already planning to go out with Gabriel.

“Are you going with Gabriel?” he asked, clenching his jaw in fury.

Eveline looked up at him, seeing the shift in his tone. He looked fixedly at her, his eyes seemingly empty.

Eveline shook her head, lowering her eyes and said

“I also have no plans to accompany him. I just do not want to see him mistreating you as a result of me.” Alex’s rage quickly subsided as her voice began to shake.

He sat down next to her after falling hard for her act.

“Alex, I do not want him to treat you like that.” Looking at him, Eveline bemoaned, her face twisted with agony.

Alex felt his heart tighten as he watched her so dejected. His heart was broken by the hurt in her eyes as she described how much she detested Gabriel for treating him poorly.

“Eveline, I do not mind how he treats me. I simply want to be with you,” he blurted out, snatching her hand.

Eveline recoiled at his fifth touch, but she did not let her distaste show on her countenance.

“No, Alex, even though I want to be with you so much, it is hard for us to be together.” She said, drawing Alex further and further into her deceit, “You are the only one who has been faithful to me and I cannot see you looking down up on”

It had never made Alex feel happier. It gave him great joy to know that Eveline thought of him as someone close to her.

It had always been his dream to be near her, both physically and emotionally. He knew Eveline had lost faith in her love for Gabriel because of the plan he and Tiffany had devised to ruin their relationship. But as the days passed, Alex saw firsthand how completely Eveline had detached herself from Gabriel.

“Eveline, I don’t care. I want to be with you, not anyone else. We may be friends, but I have always liked you, and I can not end our friendship because someone does not want us to be together,” Alex said taking Eveline by surprise.

His eyes glimmered with intense desire as he tightened his grip around her hand.

“Whether Gabriel likes it or not, I will not allow him to prevail. All I want is to be with you,” he declared.

A sliver of a smile appeared on Eveline’s face as she glanced at him, her eyes shimmering with tears.

‘There you go. This dumbass guy is so easy to fool’ Eveline thought triumphantly inwardly.

“Let me into your life, Alex, if you truly consider me your friend. We can only be important to each other when we are honest with each other about our lives,” Eveline said, momentarily surprising Alex.

He was so moved by Eveline’s words that he nodded in agreement, believing everything she had said.

Eveline’s eyes glimmered with hope as she was finally able to catch the fish in the net. This act of hers was enough to grasp Alex into her clutch and she would make sure he eventually fell into her prey.

However, she would ensure that he would not even get a hint of it until she succeeded.

Ready to descend to the lobby, Ella entered the elevator and paused before pushing the button for the eighth floor.

She went outside and walked over to Ms. Volkov’s house, ringing the doorbell.

Ella desired to see the elderly woman and offer her consolation for everything that had worked against her while her daughter was away.

Aware of the woman’s kindness toward her, she decided to take a moment to inquire about her whereabouts.

After a minute or so, the door opened, and Dr. Lilith smiled warmly to greet her.

“I apologize for everything that has happened to you, but how did that man break into the house? Did you really think the plumber would show up, or did he just barge in?” Ella enquired, causing the mother and daughter to exchange meaningful looks.

Ella kept a close eye on the two and sensed that they were trying to conceal something from one another by speaking in hushed tones.
