Chapter 106: The fruit of patience is sweet
After lunch, Alex was nowhere to be found. He left with a sigh of relief from his concerns, which made Eveline very happy. But even with Alex’s absence, there was one person in particular who seemed a little strange the whole time.
Tiffany was by herself, lost in her own thoughts, occupying the corner seat silently, but something drew Eveline’s immediate attention—the hand that rested on Tiffany’s neck the entire lecture.
She wanted to know why she was acting so strangely, but as soon as the lecture ended, Tiffany hurried out of the room as the professor left.
Eveline trailed behind her, watching as she hurried to the girl’s restroom.

Tiffany freaked out as she looked at the mark around her neck. She nearly died from strangulation once more, and Alex’s irrational actions left a purple scar around her neck over time.
“How am I supposed to treat this bruise? I can not go home showing off this mark,” Tiffany scowled, shifting her head to the left and right as she studied the mark’s darkness.
Tiffany was worried because she did not have a scarf with her to cover up this mark, but all of a sudden the restroom door opened and Eveline entered.
“I can lend you my scarf.” She said, putting Tiffany on the defensive.
Realizing this, her eyes widened, and she hastily unbraided her hair, putting it on both sides of her shoulder, nearly covering her entire neck.
“What is the matter with you? Why would I need the scarf?” Tiffany soon composed herself and turned around, her back facing Eveline.
Eveline walked over to her, scoffing at her pretentious behavior and leaning against the counter to glance to the side.
“To hide the strangling mark on your neck,” Eveline said, which made Tiffany shudder.
“W-what mark are you talking about?” Tiffany muttered as she quickly straightened her hair and observed herself through the mirror when she was abruptly interrupted by a mocking laugh from her side.
“You undoubtedly do not want Aunt Susan to find out what transpired. Thus, I advise you to accept my assistance; if not, I will have to inform her of her daughter’s whereabouts.”
Tiffany’s eyes flew open, and she shot a dread-filled glance in Eveline’s direction.
“What happened? Shocked,” Eveline enquired, observing the terrified expression on her face.
For all these years, Tiffany had been able to hide her identity, but eventually, the truth had to surface, and she was now aware of who she was. Thus, there is no reason to hide now.
Tiffany looked pale from the abrupt revelation, as though someone had taken all of the blood out of her body. The smile on Eveline’s face gradually darkened, almost sending a shiver down her spine, and her palm began to perspire.
“Is it appropriate for me to inform Miss Tiffany Ambrose’s mother that her daughter nearly choked? As you can see, the mark suggests the same thing,” she remarked, gesturing to her neck.
Fear making her legs tremble, Tiffany’s grip tightened on the counter. She was terrified of Eveline for the first time, and the sight itself made her tremble.
She was being openly threatened by someone who did not even dare to speak up to her. Not only did she address her by name, but she also forewarned her not to tell Susan about this mark.
Tiffany had to keep this a secret from her mother or else things would worsen for her. Taking her words to heart, she grabbed the scarf from her and wrapped it around her neck before running out of the restroom.
Eveline laughed at her response, but her smile quickly vanished and her eyes darkened.
“Tiffany, I like how fearful you seem. I will ensure you suffer the same consequences for all you did to me. This is where your misfortune starts.”
Saying this, Eveline too left the restroom, heading back to the classroom.

As soon as the lesson was over, Eveline left the room, but not before noticing Tiffany’s uncertain expression.
She gave her a sly smile and quickly left the main building, where Gabriel was waiting for her when she arrived.

Gabriel would drive her home, no matter how she arrived. It became second nature to him, and she began to feel the same way.
He gave her a smile as he opened the door, and soon they were driving out of the Aspen’s gate.

[ Inside the car]
“Do you not believe that telling Tiffany that you know she is Susan’s daughter was a brave move on your part?” Gabriel asked, giving Eveline a contented sideways glance.
She recoiled when his hand reached out to stroke her cheek.
“This subject was long overdue.” Eveline grunted and nearly glared at Gabriel for diverting her attention with his playful gesture. “How long should I pretend to be naive when I have numerous reason to know about it already?” she asked before jerking his hand away.
“Just sit quietly for once. I do not want to be sidetracked by you.” Eveline gave a warning, but he obviously ignored her words as he moved in closer and put his arm around her shoulder.
“You understand that is not feasible given my complete authority to pursue you. So do not worry and just keep talking,” Gabriel said, giving her a pinch on the cheeks and grinning like a foolish person in love.
Eveline rolled her eyes helplessly, giving a mental growl.
“Alex is on alert right now, and I am sure he will make a mistake trying to defend himself. It just needs to be grasped and turned over to the police.” Eveline mumbled, her eyebrows furrowed in concentration.
She was just waiting for an error in judgment from Alex so they could seize him in spite of his fear.
“You need not worry, Tiffany’s warning would ensure that he acts with caution,” Gabriel said, grabbing Eveline’s attention as she tilted her head in confusion.
“What are you trying to say? We still have to wait for the right moment after doing so much,” she questioned, her expression displaying obvious displeasure.
She growled as he playfully tapped his finger beneath her chin and said, “The fruit of patience is sweet, my dear.”
“Cease that behavior!” He laughed at her response when she issued the warning.
Gabriel abruptly leaned forward and kissed her while she was still frowning.
It occurred to him that he would have to kiss her to make up for how much he enjoyed making fun of her.
Chu~.
“I haven’t been able to taste you since morning.” He brushed his lips against hers and said, “Do you think it is unfair of you to stop making me adore you?”
She felt the sensation slowly creep up to her heart as their breaths blended together.
He was able to divert her attention with both his words and deeds. They were so considerate that each time he expressed his desire for her, she felt valued.
Eveline sighed as she met his dark grey eyes. Though she might become irritated, she secretly yearned for him just as much as he did.
She wanted him to crave her and kiss her until his heart was content, even in spite of her carelessness.
They fell into a blissful world where they were the only ones in as they stared at each other, unaware that a conversation was developing between them.
Eveline drew Gabriel so much that he became engrossed in her.
He lost all sense of reality at the sight of her stunning face.
Not only did their breaths blend together, but their heartbeats also followed the same beat.
While maintaining eye contact, Gabriel cupped her face and sealed her lips, only to have the car abruptly come to a stop.
He let out a low grunt and quickly looked at the driver, who gave him a downcast look in return.
“Young master, we have arrived.”
Eveline discovered at that point that Gabriel had taken her to Winston’s home rather than the Miller Mansion.
“What are we doing here?” Confused, she asked.
Gabriel cast her a suspicious glance before exiting the vehicle, leaving her wondering aloud as she followed him inside the residence.

[Inside]
“What is up between the two of you?” As Eveline and Gabriel took a seat across from him on the couch, Richard asked, taking a look at both of them.
Richard was joined by Jonathan, who had a sullied, serious expression on his face.
“Eve, you ought to have told us at the very least. How can you keep such a big thing from us?” Keeping his eyes on Eveline, he spoke.
Eveline gave Gabriel a quick glance, then looked down.
“Stop frightening the kids, you two. Is it not evident that they find you two intimidating? Belle swiftly rushed to their aid after voicing her displeasure with the way Jonathan and Richard were questioning them.
While Jonathan could only shake his head in resignation, Richard sighed and rolled his eyes at his wife.
“Darling, our son almost lost his life yesterday and instead of him telling us, I get to learn it from Benjamin,” he said, darting his gaze from Belle to Gabriel and asking, ” How long you planned to keep it to yourself, Gabriel Winston. Are we not trustworthy enough to know that our son was intentionally attacked?” he asked his voice filled with disappointment as he continued to look at him with questioning eyes.
