Chapter 107: She has a boyfriend

Even though they had excuses, Eveline could feel the elders were deeply disappointed with them. They should not have kept the elders in the dark, and now they had to accept the reprimand, knowing they were in the wrong this time.

“Uncle, Dad, please forgive us. I acknowledge that we should not have kept this information from you, and we accept full responsibility. I promise not to let this happen again.” Eveline apologized glancing at Gabriel who seemed least bothered to even acknowledge his mistake.

Frustrated, she tucked her elbow on his stomach and motioned him to join her.

Gabriel sighed and looked at his father, who had his eyes fixed on him.

Taking in his father’s solemn expressions, he said, “Eve is right; we promise not to repeat this mistake.”

Richard, unnerved by Gabriel’s enigmatic actions, nodded in return. He decided to talk with him in private.

“The cops are looking for clues, and I am sure they will find the culprit,” Jonathan assuredly said.

It was their duty as the proprietors of Aspen College to investigate and identify the offending party. Since the owner’s son was the target, the safety of the students came first, and they had to investigate further to find the perpetrator.

While they were still talking and clearing the air in the living room, Belle inquired, “So Eveline, do you have anyone in your life. Are you in a relationship? Girls your age are known to want boyfriends, so do you have one?”

While Eveline choked on her words and coughed aloud, Gabriel glared at her from the side.

“No, I do not have any B-boyfriend.” Gabriel gave Eveline a stern look as she answered his mother, forcing an uncomfortable smile. She could feel his piercing gaze at her but she simply played dumb.

“That’s great. Do you like me to introduce you to someone-” this time it was Gabriel who coughed shooting a deadly glare at his mother.

Eveline noticed the darkness alluring around Gabriel’s aura and scoffed.

“There won’t be any need, she already has someone” Gabriel suddenly said seizing everyone’s attention.

Eveline words stuck in her mouth while her lips parting in shock at Gabriel’s remark.

“But didn’t she declined now?” Belle said in perplex, as she couldn’t understand Gabriel’s change in attitude.

Richard pressed the bridge of his nose in concern whereas Jonathan eyed his daughter with wide eyes.

“What is he saying Eve? Do you have someone in your life?” he asked ignoring Gabriel’s words for a moment and rather inquired his daughter to come clear.

Eveline was flabbergasted as everyone’s eyes fell on her, making her the center of attention. She fumbled trying to speak on her words when Gabriel beat her to it and announced.

“I am pursuing her”

Belle”…”

Richard:”….”

Everyone looked at him in utter disbelief, however Gabriel remained unfazed by their shocked gaze and turned to look at Eveline.

Grabbing her hand he said,” So yes, she does have a boyfriend and that’s me”

Eveline jolted out of her reverie and gave Gabriel a confused look, staring at him as if he were insane.

The realization soon hit her and she quickly withdrew her hand back.

“I haven’t gave you a nod” Eveline said clenching her jaw, but Gabriel turned deaf and grabbed her hand once again.

“You will eventually,” Gabriel answered, his affirmation silencing the other person.

Laughter soon flooded the living room, shocking the couple and they looked at the elders who were now smiling staring at them.

Belle got to her feet and gathered Eveline into her arms.

“That is great news. I do not need to introduce you two since you are already dating, right, darling?” Belle’s statement took Eveline by surprise. She turned to face Richard, who nodded in response.

“It is okay if the boy you are dating is Gabriel; in the end, it had to be him,” Jonathan remarked, grabbing Eveline’s attention.

Gabriel and Eveline were unaware of how abruptly the somber ambiance within the home gave way to a cheerful one as all of the elders showered them with praise.

“Dad, what is going on?” Eveline inquired, casting a suspicious look at Jonathan.

These people, especially her father who was very protective of her when it came to any boy getting even slightly close to her daughter, gave her the impression that they were concealing something, or else how could they readily agree with Gabriel.

Jonathan stopped smiling when Eveline gave him a serious look and he sighed.

“Come here, sit next to me” he said patting the space next to him and she quickly followed his words.

“You know, just like Uncle Richard and me, even your grandfather’s were best friends,” Jonathan said, looking both at Eveline and Gabriel simultaneously before continuing.

“And they desired to see their grandchildren get married to one another in order to strengthen this friendship.”

Eveline felt like the floor slipped underneath her feet and she looked at Belle and Richard for confirmation.

“Yes, and Gabriel is the person I want to introduce you to.” Belle stated startling Eveline to no end.

Gabriel proudly flashed his smile while their words caused Eveline’s mind to race. He was overjoyed that fortune was on his side and that he could now freely pursue Eveline without any limitations.

“Why didn’t you call me. How I wished to witness the most iconic moment with my own eyes” Stefan complaint with a dreamy voice causing Gabriel to roll his eyes.

Though his words irked him, still he let it go this time as he was too happy to let this fleeting annoyance bother his mood.

“She is mine. She has always been mine” Gabriel said feeling as if a huge stone was lifted from his heart.

The fear of Eveline not reciprocating him or refusing him in the end kept bothering him deep inside his heart, but now that he knew no matter what, she wouldn’t be able to decline him at any cost he couldn’t help but feel at cloud nine.
