Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 113
Chapter 113: Is a lie
Stefan’s rambling comment nearly made Ella choke on her pancakes. Not only did he laugh at her, but he also spoke to her in a very flattering manner in front of her mother.
She was not sure how he would kiss her, but the way he said it made her stomach turn.
Michelle gave them a quick shove and disappeared into her room, leaving the two alone.
She was relieved to see that someone was genuinely trying to show Ella how important and deserving she was.
Stefan then turned away from Ella and began consuming the pancakes. Michelle called him first thing in the morning and asked if he could come over for breakfast. He therefore took a quick drive to her house, fulfilling her mother’s request.
The two quickly finished up their breakfast and even Michelle stepped out of her room to get dressed.
Originally scheduled to depart immediately following breakfast, she chose instead to delay a little as she wanted to spend some more time with her daughter and Stefan.
Michelle was confident that Stefan would not let her down like Max did, so she could trust him with her daughter.
Stefan said to Michelle, “I wish we could spend more time together, Aunty.”
She reminded Stefan of his mother, so he immediately warmed up to her, expecting to spend some more time with her.
“Do not worry, I will be by to spend some time with you two, but I have to go for now,” Michelle said, taking a look at the time.
Ella made enough money to support the family, but Michelle planned to work and not rely on her daughter for a relevant allowance. That helped her manage her busy schedule, in part because she believed she could work and still be independent.
Stefan grinned as he watched her embrace Ella and then him before heading out.
As soon as they got into the elevator, Stefan stepped closer to Ella, surprising her with his proximity.
“What are you doing? Just go and stand there!” Ella forewarned, gesturing to the spot where he had stood earlier, but this unyielding type would not move.
Rather, he pressed her up against the wall and inched forward, asking, “What if I don’t?”
Ella’s breath caught in her throat as her eyes fluttered at the sight of his lovely face getting closer to hers. Despite her embarrassment at seeing the corner of his mouth curl up in delight, she did not argue. Rather, she discovered that she was melting beneath his intense scrutiny.
Ella remembered what he had said the night before. Stefan had told her he was serious about her, and she could feel it in her bones. However, how is that even possible? Or was it just a brief affair that he intended to end when he grew bored?
Her foggy thoughts slowly began to settle and she was about to push him when the elevator pinged, stopping three floors down and the door opened.
“ELLA?” Both were startled by a familiar voice, but before the woman could react, Ella drew Stefan nearer.
Lilith scowled at the awkward angle between them as she attempted doubtfully to peep through their glued bodies.
She had caught a glimpse of Ella, but now she doubted whether her poor vision had identified the correct individual. She gradually began to second-guess her assumption and turned to face the elevator door.
With a blink, Ella glanced over Stefan’s shoulder and saw that the woman was facing away from them. She exhaled a breath of relief, but shortly realization dawned on her, and her eyes anxiously lifted to face Stefan.
The fact that his body was pressing against her, preventing any air from passing, and that his lips had been resting on her forehead only moments earlier, went unnoticed by her. But there was this particular part of his body that poked her as well.
Ella’s lips parted in shock as she realized what that thing was, dropping her heart into her stomach.
“Stay put, or I will lose my composure.” Ella stopped moving when she heard his raspy voice above his labored breathing.
She could sense the discomfort through his actions, so she decided to follow his words until they finally reached the lobby and the door of the elevator opened.
Lilith hurried out, ignoring the people behind her, while Ella and Stefan stood there for, well, who knew how long.
Ella was the one who startled out of her reverie and cleared her throat.

“We should go,” she said, gently pushing Stefan aside to make a small space between them.
Stefan blinked a few times, pulling himself from his fantasy and nodding numbly.
They quickly dashed out of the lobby and made their way to the parking lot, making sure no one saw them, only to abruptly stop midway.
“We need to follow her,” he suddenly said, walking around the car towards the driver seat.
“That’s not possible.” she furrowed.
Ella instantly objected, saying, “We have to leave for an important meeting and I have to report it to your father by the end of the day.”
With a sly smile, Stefan cocked his head to give her an incredulous look.
“Get in the car; we are going after her,” he said, paying no heed to her words and got inside the car.
After a brief period of bewilderment, Ella obeyed his instructions and got into the car. Shortly after, they departed while following Lilith’s vehicle.

Concurrently, Eveline was taken aback to witness Alex openly discussing his illness, which had gradually taken hold of him, in front of her within the coffee shop.
“I was first admitted to the hospital at the age of eleven after experiencing a mental breakdown.” At his words, Eveline’s eyebrows furrowed.
Instinctively, she asked, “Where have you bullied?” and he nodded.
“It was not only at school; my cousin and family also treated me badly for being who I am.”
As Alex told her about the lack of interest from his family, Eveline’s eyes narrowed, and she observed the change in his expression closely.
“They bully and beat me, causing me to suffer to their satisfaction.” A flicker of darkness flashed through his eyes as he remembered his cousin’s bullying, but it was soon followed, in part, by another memory of him making them suffer in return. “Sometimes the ragging would be so violent that I would not find my way out.”
In an attempt to control Eveline, Alex revealed only a portion of the truth about his early years, but the truth was not what he said.
Yes, he was mistreated and bullied, but he always managed to get by without being discovered.
Everyone who mistreated him or bullied him had to face so many repercussions that they were unwilling to make the same error again.
He was innocent in the eyes of the public until his aunt discovered that he had been abusing her son’s life and reported the incident to his parents.
That was the first time he had experienced his father’s wrath, and it persisted for a while, to the point where his madness became severe and he began having violent episodes in which he attempted to kill himself.
Alex might have been able to get rid of his father, but bad luck got the better of him and he got caught again, which led him to a rehab facility where he met Dr. Lilith.
She worked diligently to restore his life to normalcy, knowing by memory his medical history.
A man who enjoyed controlling others tried his luck with the woman and, after a few months, was given permission to leave. His parents asked that his medical condition be kept a secret so that no one would question his health, but who would have thought that he would stop going to the clinic and taking his medication?
Alex believed that everything would be alright up until his reality was concealed, but things did not appear to go according to his plan.
He began doing everything in his power to get Eveline to approach him as his obsession with her grew, and now that everything was going his way, there was no way he would let anyone ruin it.
Eveline continued to stare perplexedly at Alex. His words whirled around in her head, making her extremely confused.
“My parents decided to keep this a secret because they do not want me to go through the same thing again and they trust that with the help of this medication, I am now fine.” He said expectantly, hoping Eveline would fall for his deception. “I am no longer violent or suicidal.”
Even though Alex was crazy about Eveline, he only had faith in himself.
There was no way he would show her how insane he could be and how he would not hesitate to hurt someone.
He wanted to ensnare Eveline in his grasp, and his lies served as his haven.
Eveline sighed after giving it some thought, saying, “I am sorry you have to go through so much on your own. But fear not—I will not mistreat you.”
‘But rather throw you back to the rehab to get your nuts fixed, because I know everything you are telling is a lie’ she said, the rest in her mind.
