Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 121
Chapter 121: A blunder
Stefan drove to the college after dropping off Ella, where he found Eveline and Gabriel waiting for him.
Taking in their surroundings, the trio made their way to the canteen and got into their usual seats.
“You think Alex knows about his father’s affair with Lilith or he simply threatened her to save himself?” Eveline questioned Stefan with skepticism.
Because he was the one who validated their suspicions and uncovered some surprising truths, it made sense why Alex despised his father so much.
Yes, she believed him when he told her his father would be assaulting him, but the hostility in his eyes indicated that his relationship with his father was awful.
“I do not know. The boy has this mystic aura around him; no one knows what’s going on in his mind.” Stefan said.
He almost drew out every detail about himself and his incredibly loving family, but when he saw those photographs, all of his thoughts were destroyed.
“You recall Uncle Richard talking about his acquaintance with A&D Enterprise. Any modifications on the confirmation?” Stefan inquired, cutting off Gabriel from his musings.
Eveline furrowed her brow at Gabriel’s lack of interest in the discussion, but when Stefan’s words reached his cords, he looked at him for a brief second and shook his head.
“He did consider it,” he stated.
Eveline pondered what Stefan had just stated, ignoring her concerns about Gabriel’s attention.
“A&D Enterprise, where did I hear this name?” She mumbled, and then it hit her.
“Isn’t the corporation owned by Alex’s aunt. But why are they looking for investors beyond their territory?” she inquired.
“Because she cut ties with her brother years ago and now with her husband she trying to build their company,” Gabriel explained, and she nodded in understanding.
She once again lapsed into thinking and abruptly asked, ” Don’t they have a son?”
Gabriel arched his brow with amusement, once again perked by her words.
“Yes, she does, but he studies abroad and rarely comes here,” Stefan replied.
“Why are you suddenly curious about her son?” Gabriel inquired swiftly, capturing both Eveline and Stefan’s attention.
Eveline had yet to tell them about the things Alex made up to trick her into falling for his deception, but now that the issue of his aunt had come up, she couldn’t connect it to the conversation in which he mentioned his relatives bullying him.
‘Could the cousin be the son of his aunt?’
“Hmm, actually Alex made up a story about being bullied from an early age. He claimed that not only was he mistreated outside, but also by his cousin and family members.”
“But that is false,” Stefan immediately denied.
The information he received was sparse, but it was evident that Alex was the apple of their eye, and his family treated him well.
“I know, but his words aren’t sinking in.” Eveline groaned helplessly.
“So you want us to contact that cousin you mentioned?” Gabriel asked, as Eveline bit her lip and sneaked a glimpse at him.
Stefan held back his laughter, while Gabriel simply rolled his eyes in defeat.
“I just want to know what the truth is and whether Alex is truly lying,” Eveline stated in defense.
“But he’s abroad. How can we get there? Stefan asked.
Eveline pursed her lips and stared at them blankly.

“I am not asking you to go behind that boy, but rather get in touch with his family to know the entire truth.” Eveline stated, and Stefan nodded, his lips parted in a huge O.
Gabriel fell silent, finding her statements to be fairly valid.
“That’s plausible. Furthermore, the cops discovered something significant about the accident,” Gabriel added, drawing both Stefan’s and Eveline’s attention to him.
“They did?” Eveline inquired with wide eyes.
“Yes, and you are in charge of informing Alex about it,” he added, staring at Eveline.
Stefan furrowed his brow in confusion and broke in, “But when we investigated, there was no sign of any evidence.”
Gabriel darted his gaze at Stefan and nodded, “We did, but Alex isn’t aware of it, so we’re going to gamble it,” he replied, surprising both Stefan and Eveline.
“I think you should leave before anyone finds us together,” Gabriel murmured, glancing at Eveline, who nodded dazedly.
Now that they were a team, he made sure Eveline was not spotted by Alex or Tiffany. He wanted them to play it safe unless they achieved their goals.
“Yes, Gabriel is correct,” Stefan replied, and Eveline felt the canteen.
Stefan rose after Eveline left.
“And, where are you going? Were you not expected to attend the classes?” Gabriel asked Stefan with a raised eyebrow.
Though it wasn’t essential, Gabriel hoped Stefan would stay, but now that he was set to depart, he began to question him.
“I do not think so. I have a meeting this afternoon, and if I am let out even for a second, El will reprimand me.”
“El” Gabriel’s lips curled into a teasing grin, prompting Stefan’s furrow.
“So the robotic lady transformed into El. That’s a quick change in endearment,” Gabriel mumbled, and Stefan sighed.
“I advise that you keep those remarks to yourself rather than spill them in front of her.”
Stefan said, “She’s still upset with me, and I don’t want to add to the burden,” recalling Ella’s refusal to look at him after he dropped her off at home.
He still didn’t know in what way he offended her, when she was the one who didn’t hear him.
Gabriel didn’t inquire much and gave him a nod before he walked away.
It was unexpected to see Stefan acting out of character for someone, but it was also satisfying to see him finally on the right path.

Meanwhile, inside the empty classroom, Gracey slowly approached Tiffany’s desk and delicately placed the note underneath it. Before leaving, she ensured that her steps were anonymous.
However, on her way out, she stumbled upon Alex and was paralyzed.
Gracey’s face turned pale as she noticed his expressionless face and apologized.
“Sorry,” she whispered, her thoughts immediately straying to the desk where she had placed the note.
Gracey didn’t expect Alex to appear out of nowhere, but then she remembered Eveline’s warning and gulped.
‘What if he is here to find the culprit?’ Gracey thought to herself and watched him walk past her while giving a doubtful look.
Gracey panicked, her eyes anxiously searching for aid, and a thought struck her, prompting her to pick out her phone and call someone.
While inside, Alex came to a halt and returned his gaze to observe Gracey leaving. Gracey’s appearance in the classroom raised suspicions, but Tiffany affirmed it wasn’t her.
Alex wanted to keep his guard up and investigate completely, rejecting any doubts. So the first thing he did was to check Tiffany’s desk in the hopes of finding the note there, but before he could get there, a voice called him from behind, and he quickly turned to look at it.
Alex’s solemn demeanor turned happy as he watched Eveline enter inside.
“How come you are here at college? Weren’t you supposed to be at home?” Eveline asked, her breathing slightly heavy as she approached him.
Eveline was on her way to the classroom when she received a call from Gracey, who hastily spilled the blunder she made, and the next thing she did was physically run to stop Alex from finding the note under Tiffany’s seat.
Alex’s smile faltered as he noticed the beads of sweat on her forehead and hurriedly sought to clean it.
“Alex, what are you doing?” Eveline drew back from his touch, to see him sigh.
“Why are you sweating?” he inquired, and she realized she was sweating because of the run.
“Oh, I hadn’t realized. Maybe because it’s so hot in here?” Eveline remarked, waving her palm before her face.
Alex gave Eveline an odd look but quickly smiled, finding her acts adorable.
“You didn’t tell me how you are here?” Eveline brought up the same subject, her gaze warily drawn to the note lying on the floor.
Eveline had to distract Alex in order to get the note, but how?
Alex glanced at Eveline with glee. He came here because of Tiffany’s remarks, but he also wanted to see Eveline.
“I felt better so I decided to come.” He explained.
He had lied to her about not feeling better the previous day, so he had to maintain it to fool her.
Eveline returned his smile aggressively, inviting him to join her to their sitting spot.
Alex was hesitant, but he couldn’t simply let Eveline to see his intentions. So he abandoned the intention of inspecting Tiffany’s desk and followed Eveline.
The class soon filled up with students. Gracey returned to her seat, and Tiffany came.
With Alex’s acute eyes, neither Eveline nor Gracey were able to get rid of the note, which remained there.
Tiffany had not yet noticed it, but it was unclear how long she would remain unaware of it.
“Can you move a little bit? I need to sit here,” Gracey remarked, standing next to Tiffany.
“…”
