Chapter 125: Unpredictable brat

Jenny burst into tears in front of her mother-in-law after admitting to her husband’s adultery.

Alex consoled his mother while they waited for Henry to arrive.

He was supposed to follow Gabriel to the police station, but an abrupt phone call from his mother convinced him to alter his mind, and when he returned home, he received the most shocking news.

“I knew something was going on between these two, but Henry would constantly dismiss it and blame me for being insensitive. Now, look, she sent me these photos. Should I still ignore it?” Jenny asked, pointing to her phone, which remained on the table before them.

Alex furrowed his brow and reached for the phone, scrolling through the photographs that had been received from Lilith’s number.

Alex’s eyes darken, and his grip on the phone tightens.

Years after beginning therapy with Lilith, he became aware of his father’s illegitimate relationship with her.

He happened to witness them making out in her office.

Alex would have exposed his father, but he didn’t realize how much the truth could hurt his mother.

So he began to turn a blind eye and continued to appear ignorant until Lilith attempted to touch him improperly during the session.

Alex was aware that Lilith was a whore who slept with his father in exchange for the wealth and opportunities that came with it.

But he didn’t realize she had evil intentions for him.

If Alex recalls correctly, Lilith was not the first woman he had seen his father fuck, but there were many, and he occurred to see their encounters or sexual voices from his room while Jenny was not present.

Alex continued to stare blankly at the screen until he heard his mother yell.

“How dare you, Henry,” she marched towards his father, who had just walked into the house and slapped him across the face.

Jenny was upset by her husband’s adultery since she always assumed he wouldn’t break her trust after giving him all he wanted.

Jenny and Henry married out of convenience and for their personal gain, but he swore not to follow in the footsteps of every man in the Howard family by having a mistress outside of marriage.

Henry wanted to expand his firm, so he consented at the time. For the first few years, he was extremely loyal to her because she met his requirements like a good wife, but things began to change when Jenny became pregnant and no longer looked attractive in his eyes.

He subsequently began indulging in business and travel for various trips, where he met a variety of women.

He met Lilith during that time, and they hooked up before parting ways because she was betrothed to someone else.

But Henry didn’t stop there; he continued to whore and began bringing women into his home while no one was present.

Servant workers were ordered to keep their mouths shut so that no one would dare to speak up, but Henry’s mother found out about it after hearing young Alex discuss it.

His words were benign, but the way he articulated it made her realize that the lady his son was having sex with wasn’t Jennifer.

“Henry Howard, what is going on here? Don’t you have some sense of what you’ve done?” Irene Howard asked.

Henry lowered his gaze and didn’t say anything, but he knew everything was doom. He disregarded his mother’s advice and ended up being exposed.

If he had known Lilith would turn against him, he would have left her earlier.

“I need an explanation, Henry. Why did you do this to me?” Jenny asked as she cried in front of him.

Despite growing up in a household where having an affair was usual, she was confident that her husband was not the type of man to break her trust. But today he betrayed her confidence and she could no longer stay with him.

“You remember what my father asked you before marriage, but you ended up going against his words.” Jenny’s remarks drew Henry’s attention, and he immediately looked at his mother.

Irene was taken aback when she heard Jenny’s words and stared at Henry.

“Jenny, I believe we should have a proper discussion about this matter,” she said hastily, attempting to calm the situation.

Jenny’s comments sounded like an alarm, threatening them to the core.

The Howards had already experienced a setback when her daughter opted to leave them after Alex nearly murdered her son. Furthermore, they could no longer take the chance of losing Jenny, a significant shareholder in their business.

Henry saw the gravity of the situation and swiftly grasped Jenny’s hands.

“Jenny, I apologize. I wasn’t thinking straight,” he said, his expression filled with guilt.

Alex stared at his father and scoffed. He knew a man like Henry would never change, and he was merely pretending to be sorry because he didn’t want to lose his empire, which was mostly built by his maternal grandparents.

Ignoring the scene unfolding in front of him, Alex swiftly moved away and returned to his room.

He still didn’t understand Lilith’s conduct, but with the evidence in front of him, there was no way he was going to spare her this time.

He needed to take care of this lady before she went beyond her limit.

Alex quickly took out his phone, typed something into it, and clicked the send button. His eyes darkened as he realized the outcome of his actions, knowing that it would work.

Meanwhile, Gabriel was astonished that Alex did not accompany him to the police station and immediately altered his mind.

Gabriel had a plan for Alex, but with him abruptly retreating, he had to drop the concept and return to college.

Gabriel approached the library and saw Eveline there waiting for him.

His thoughts quickly calmed, and he slowly approached her.

He drew her attention to himself by pulling up a chair.

He expected a surprised expression from her, but she appeared serene, which got him questioning.

“Aren’t you going to ask me what I am doing here?” He remarked this while admiring her serene yet lovely face.

Gabriel automatically sought to tuck the strand away from her face and behind her ear.

He felt as if admiring her wasn’t enough, as she continued to tug at his heartstrings despite her quietness.

“Because I know the reason, so it’s not that important,” she responded.

Gabriel’s brow furrowed in curiosity, and he leaned against his chair, casting her a skeptical glance.

“You knew he wasn’t going to come after me?” He inquired, and she gave him a profound look.

The expression alone piqued his interest, and he queried without delay, “How?”

“Because my plan worked, and now it would be more feasible for us to make him work on his destruction,” Eveline remarked, closing the book she had been reading all while and turning to face him.

Eveline hacked Lilith’s phone number and sent those photos to Jenny’s phone.

Now that she was certain Alex was aware of his father’s and Lilith’s relationship, she planned to use that knowledge to target him.

Gabriel gave her a puzzled look, and she sighed.

“His mother now knows about his father’s affairs,” she said, leading Gabriel to grimace even more.

“You sent those pictures to her?” he inquired in surprise.

“Not me, Lilith,” she corrected.

Gabriel studied her comments, eventually coming to realize what Eveline was saying.

“So why didn’t you tell me? I wouldn’t have driven to the police station,” he complains, causing her to chuckle.

“I just wanted us to be prepared for whatever comes,” she added with a shrug, returning her gaze to the book.

With Alex being such an unpredictable brat, she had no idea how his brain worked or what steps he would take next, so she made sure to keep many plans in mind in case one of them worked.

Gabriel couldn’t be furious with her no matter what she did. It was as if the more he got to know her, the more he understood how different she had been since her early days.

“I just want to kiss you right now,” he whispered, surprising Eveline, who looked at him with wide eyes, only to see him grin.

Eveline’s face contorted with fury and she slammed the book close and got up to leave.
