Chapter 126: Two birds in one arrow

Gabriel followed Eveline out of the library, giggling to himself. He knew she was hell sacre of getting kissed inside the library, but he was damn amused that she failed to catch his joke.

Gabriel would never risk Eveline’s image before everyone but teasing her was a treat that he never wanted to miss.

“Why are you running away from me?” He said tailing her with longer stride from behind.

Eveline was a like rabbit fastening her pace without paying heeds to his words.

Just when the were in the middle of taking another step, a sight before them stoped them in between and they both said in union.

“Are theh friends?”

Eveline and Gabriel looked at each other and then at Daniel and Gracey.

The way they were talking and come together from somewhere left them curious.

Eveline had been trying to reach Gracey, but her phone was turned off and now this.

How come she became friends with Daniel and why didn’t she knew it?

The moment their eyes met Daniel paused before he turned to look at his brother who quickly took a stroll towards them.

“Daniel where the hell are you roaming skipping your classes”

Daniel gape at his brother brooding gaze and turned to look at Gracey.

Eveline noticed the small exchange of interaction between them and asked, ” Gracey, where are you both coming from”

Gracey gape at the sound of Eveline’s voice and she instantly turned to face her.

“Eve, did you know what we just saw” Gracey was still coping with whatever they witnessed and wanted to tell her.

That same went witb Daniel who ignored his brother words and dashed towards him like a kid wanting to share at secret with his parent and said,” Dr. Lilith and Henry Howard broke up”

Eveline and Gabriel shared at quick glance and the turned to face the respective person. Their fave showing no hint of amusement or shock.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Gracey looked at Eveline in disbelief.

Daniel who too was kept in dark gave hos brother a questioning look.

“Me too.” He said crossing his hands.

Eveline gave the two a tired look. She did understood about Gracey’s displeasure but Daniel, why was he acting like her.

“What do you want to know?” Gabriel voice broke her thoughts and she turned her gaze to the side.

Daniel fumbled a little but pretended to be brave before his brother.

“E-everything” he stuttered keeping a straight face.

Since Daniel was aware of the things going on on their lives, he too felt the need to know every single thing rather than getting left out like right now.

Gabriel clenched his jaw, intimidating Daniel for his rudeness however Gracey took in the small glaring exchange as a threat and joined Daniel demanding an explanation.

“Yes everything” she said sharing an assuring glance with Daniel.

Daniel who was almost shivering within puffed his chest with pride when Gracey stood with him.

Eveline could only shake her head helplessly before cutting in the crap and coming right to the point.

“Gracey, I am sorry that you have to find about Lilith’s and Henry’s affair like that, but even I came to know about it yesterday. Furthermore I wanted to inform you about it but you were nowhere to be found” Eveline said in her defense.

Eveline was looking for Gracey for the mere reason, but after she left abruptly, there was no way she could contact her.

Gracey pondered over Eveline’s words and nodded in understanding. She indeed kept her phone off for god knows what reason, but now that Eveline expressed her words, she didn’t feel upset.

Daniel nodded looking at her like an understanding person, however he suddenly felt a cold chill washing through his existence.

“Now my turn. Why aren’t you attending classes. Do you want Dad to take up your free time by making you join any random coaching class” Gabriel words sucked the color off from Daniel’s face and he gulped.

“I was simply accompanying Gracey because she was feeling down”

Gracey:”…”

Daniel gave Gracey a pitiful look but she ignored him. He knew if Gabriel would to know that he had been skipping classes then he would surely take matters in his hand and let his father know. So he decided to lie but soon regretted it considering the way Gracey reacted.

He waited for her to say something in objection, but she simply nodded claiming his words.

Gabriel looked at them suspiciously as he knew his brother was good at lying whenever he wanted to get away from getting scolded.

Heaving out a sigh, Gabriel decided to keep his words to himself and that was enough for Daniel to breath in relief.”

“So my prediction was right” Eveline spoke seizing their attention back at her.

“What prediction is she talking about?” Daniel asked looking at his brother who glared at him in return and he sealed his lips.

“I wanted to kill two birds in one arrow and with my goal achieved, it will be eager to wait for Alex’s next move” Eveline stated feeling delighted of her achievement.

“Thank god he will be invested in his personal matters for now, or else I think we should have to drop the idea of scaring Tiffany” Gracey leaned on her chair heaving out a sigh of relief.

Today after she almost got herself caught by Alex, it constantly kept her in fears on whether they should continue the plan or just put ahold on it.

Eveline smile vanished and she turned to look at Gracey.

“I think we should hold it for sometime, because no matter how much Alex will be invested he will still continue to find the clues.” Eveline by now understood Alex wasn’t a normal physco but much more smart one to ignore.

Gracey nodded in understanding. After today too felt it was better to keep their guards up now that she almost got herself exposed.

‘What if he doubts her?’ suddenly the thought popped in her mind and she shuddered in fear.

They continued to talk for a while before decided to go their ways.

Inside the car, the atmosphere turned dense for Daniel who kept on glancing his brother every now and then.

He knew despite lying to them, Gabriel wasn’t fully convinced and the thought of him exposing him scared the hell out of him.

“Are you going to keep looking or tell me the reason behind your lie” Gabriel asked, seizing Daniel’s attention and he gulped.

It was difficult to confront his brother but he still mustered the courage to speak.

“I didn’t lie practically. I didn’t accompany Gracey because she was feeling down. However I too needed a break and she happened to be a good company, though”

Gabriel arch his brow watching his brother speak truthfully.

Daniel might never tell but he knew this constant pressure of being a good son was lacking him down.

This expectation that came along with comparison to him was stressing him.

“Are you still upset with dad’s decision?” Gabriel asked seizing Daniel’s attention.

“I am not but he needs to understand that I not bound to be perfect and things can go down sometimes. He always expect me to be on the top” he said making a sad face.

“As am adult I need to explore various things in life” he added with a faint scowl.

Yes cutting his allowance was a cruel decision, because he assumed Richard would come to drop his punishment and spare him. But that never happened.

Yes he was careless at time but he also wanted to enjoy his life like his friend and not burden himself with scores.

Gabriel pondered over his words and nodded,” I can understand but why don’t you think from Dad’s perspective. He is not doing it to hurt you but rather make you realize the importance of how deal with that comes in your way”

Though Gabriel was bound to take over the company after Richard, still he wanted his youngest son to handle the other branches skillfully and carry his legacy. But for that he needed to know the importance of knowledge of life.

If he happens to let his gaurd down and lose his path then anyone might take advantage of him, which he never wanted his kids to go through.

Nodding his head in understanding Daniel agreed with Gabriel.

“I won’t disappoint him” he said.

Gabriel knew Daniel wanted to explore his life as an adult and they would never restrict him, but he needs to know that their life wasn’t simple.

They were powerful people who had to do great thing in life. And the last thing they could do is to disappoint their parents.

“Okay, now cheer up and tell me what you did after accompayning Gracey?” He asked easing his mood.

Daniel’s eyes sparkled with delight and he turned to face his brother excitedly.

“We went to local park and let me tell you brother, it’s so fun there unlike the one we had in our Mansion”
