Chapter 130: It’s like you’re reborn
Jenny was startled by the thick smoke coming from Alex’s room, and she screamed as well as banged on the door with the hope to hear him back.
Her voice scared the rest of the family, and they raced to her location, only to see her cry her heart out.
“Henry, please get Alex out,” she pleaded, staring at her husband, who had no idea what had happened to their kid this time.
He nodded in agreement and ordered the servant to retrieve the spare key to his room, but before the man could take a step forward, the door opened and everyone’s gaze turned to Alex, who appeared unconcerned about the mess he had made inside his room.
Jenny choked, brushed the smoke from her face, and swiftly reached for her son.
“Alex, honey, are you alright? What’s with this smoke?” She inquired, directing the maids to quickly go inside and deal with the situation.
Jenny knew her kid had been triggered again, and the cause was clear when she saw Alex look at his father with disgust.
“What’s wrong with you, Alex? Are you trying to kill us all?” Henry snapped, giving his son the same glare in response.
Henry had been wary of his son since the first time he attacked him.
The trauma was so severe that he had to beat his son to a pulp just to control his crazy.
He had no idea what was causing his insane behavior, but he tried everything he could to keep him under control. But, after all these years, I’m guessing there have been no big advancements.
‘That bitch, she couldn’t even heal my son,’ he mentally criticized Lilith as she failed to perform her duties.
Jenny observed the tension between the father and son pair and instantly said, “Shut up, Henry! Can’t you tell he’s not well, and why do you still keep scolding him?”
Jenny abandoned the idea of cooperating with her husband this time because she couldn’t take his intrusion in their lives anymore.
He failed as a father long ago today, but also as a spouse, and she only chose to be with him because she did not want to risk their public image.
Henry’s eyes soften when he heard his wife’s words.
“Darling, I did mean to scold him-”
“Enough, I don’t want you to talk to Alex like that, especially after you failed to be a father figure to him,” she said, grabbing Alex’s hand and dragging him away.
Henry watched the two leave before being distracted by a servant who called him.
“Master, should we throw this scarf away?” said the lady, offering him the scarf she discovered inside the room.
Henry’s eyes widened as he recognised the object, and his gaze shifted to the direction Jenny and Alex had gone.
His hands trembled and his face grew ghostly white as the notion of Alex doing something wrong with Lilith entered his thoughts.

[Eveline’s room]
Eveline had been pacing back and forth in her room since Stefan dropped the massive bomb on her.
The assistant he bribed failed to get the concealed camera inside Lilith’s office, and she was confident it had already been handed over to Alex.
They only had one chance to gather proof by discreetly recording Alex’s insane actions on video and handing it over to the cops, but everything seemed to be a mess.
Her only concern right now is that he does not shift all of the blame to Gabriel and attacks him.
“Aren’t your legs hurting? You’ve been pacing back and forth for a long time.”

Eveline flinched and her head turned toward the window where Gabriel was leaning.
He waved his hand, smiling, and continued to stare at her, waiting for a response. Nevertheless, she…..
“What the hell are you doing here?” She shouted as she dashed towards him and peered out the window.
Gabriel had finally discovered a means to enter her room as a burglar whenever he wanted.
“Aren’t you tired of asking me the same question?” he replied, quickly throwing his arm around her waist and drawing her closer, standing in between his legs.
“Why don’t you say something like this, Gabriel? You’re here. What a great surprise or something like I’ve been waiting for you, like that.” he admonished.
Eveline gave him a blank expression as he attempted to be funny but failed miserably.
“How about I chuck you out the window for invading my privacy? It will be a tremendous help for me to see one of your legs break and you are unable to climb the pipe,” she added, withdrawing his hand from her waist and taking a step back.
Eveline never anticipated Gabriel to sneak into her room through the window, and now she regrets giving him the idea in the first place.
Gabriel pouted before straightening up.
“You want me to break my leg?” he questioned, stepping closer to her.
Eveline gave him a stern look before nodding.
“At least I won’t be terrified by your surprise entrances. More than a thief, I am afraid of you now,” she said, turning to walk to her bed.
Gabriel followed her and sat beside her on the bed. He explored slightly with his legs stretched on the floor and his gaze fixed on her.
“Fine that can happen if you let me sleep with you every night”
“…”
Eveline stood up and glared at Gabriel, as if he were insane.
“You’re way too delusional, Gabriel Winston, to think I’ll let you sleep with me every night,” she murmured, crossing her hand over her chest.
“Then I have no choice but to follow the route to sleep with you in secrecy”
“…”
Eveline’s jaw fell at his witty remarks. Gabriel wanted her to prevent him from sneaking through her window in order to allow him to sleep with her.
What exactly is the point of negotiation?
Gabriel grinned and swiftly drew her to sit on his lap, asking, “Tell me why you are so anxious?”
Eveline awoke from her lethargy and glanced at his arms around her.
Eveline told Gabriel the truth about being the one who revealed Henry’s affair with Lilith to Jenny, but she did not tell him about the plot to install a camera in Lilith’s office.
Eveline was convinced that her strategy would succeed, but it backfired when Alex learned about it, and she was now terrified that he would pursue Gabriel because he was his only suspect.
Eveline chewed on her lips, avoiding Gabriel’s stare, and inclined her head slightly, like a child caught in action.
“There’s another aspect of my plan that I didn’t tell you,” she continued, sneaking a glance at him before swiftly looking away.
Gabriel’s serene demeanor shifted as he smelled Eveline’s misstep through her action, and he tightened his grip on her and demanded, “Come clean, Eveline Miller”
Eveline gave him a wide-eyed glance and swallowed. She knew he was dominant, but she needed to keep him updated in case Alex came after him and he was able to avoid his onslaught.
So she overcame her trepidation and started to speak.
“I planted a camera inside Lilith’s office knowing that Alex would do something absurd and we could catch him red-handed, but the camera has vanished and I am confident the recording is with Alex,” she stated without pausing and glanced at Gabriel expectantly.
Gabriel’s demeanor remained unchanged, but the next words he said caught him off surprise.
“So now you’re worried that Alex will come after me because I’m his only suspect,” his lips curled into a lovely smile, as if he was pleased to have predicted everything or that she was truly concerned about him.
Eveline’s eyes sharpened, and she gave him a skeptical look.
“Gabriel Winston, you’re acting insane right now. Who the hell smiles when they are aware of the dangers that surround them? “You should be concerned, not happy,” she stated severely, and he eventually stopped smiling.
Eveline simply shook her head in surprise and continued, “So I want you to be careful until we come up with another way”
Gabriel’s eyes shine with happiness as he is moved by her words. It was a feast for him to see those concerned eyes, and he nodded to keep her mind at ease.
“I will,” he replied, and she exhaled a sigh of relief.
As they continued to be like this, Eveline realized something and pushed him away, only to have him hug her even tighter.
“You must leave,” she murmured, attempting to break free from his grip, but Gabriel was too powerful for her.
“You haven’t accepted the deal,” he replied, and she paused.
“Is there no deal? Do you think you can fool me like that? Never!… I am not the old Eveline who was easily seduced by everything you said.” She said, refusing to pay attention to his words and give in, but her words made Gabriel furrow and he queried,
“Why do you sound like the old Eveline died, and the person before me is someone else?”
“It’s like you’re reborn.”
