Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 139
Chapter 139: You will despise yourself Chapter 139: You will despise yourself Eveline needed some time to recover from her shock when she felt the dampness of his tears on her skin.
‘Was he crying?’ she inquired, straining her head, but she couldn’t see it.
Eveline was astounded when she felt his shoulder move, and she realized Gabriel was indeed sobbing.
Something inside her moved, and her hands quickly moved to embrace him in a hug.
This was the first time she’d seen Gabriel so vulnerable that he cried and begged her to accept him.
Eveline took a hesitant breath, feeling the burn of her tears as they moistened her eyes with each second.
Despite her repeated refusal to care for him, he would do something that made her doubt herself.
When he pleaded her, she couldn’t help but feel pain.
It was not something she expected to hear in her lifetime.
But she did, which was somewhat surprising.
The man she vowed never to associate with begged her to love him and accept him.
The phrases she kept telling him were repeated, but the man had no idea of any previous incidents to help him understand her reluctance.
“Why do you want me to love you, Gabriel?
Didn’t you keep pushing me all this time because you felt I was wasting my time seeking you?
Don’t you want me to pursue my dream?” She inquired, and he finally stopped crying.
He then gently pulled back, his face covered in tears and his eyes crimson, leaving her completely taken away by his appearance.
“I was wrong, and I apologize.
Please forgive me,” he begged.
Gabriel regretted the way he handled things with Eveline.
He knew everything he did was stupid, but he was willing to plead for her forgiveness every day until she ultimately forgiven him.
Eveline’s lips trembled as she attempted to speak, but Gabriel was more determined to make amends with her.
He couldn’t just let her walk away from him, or else his existence would be meaningless.
Eveline became such an important part of his life that he didn’t think it was worth living without her.
He was continually scared of losing her, and he had no idea why.
As if he had been through it before and was not prepared to go through it again.
Eveline closed her eyes, allowing the tears she had been holding in to trickle down her cheeks, and exhaled shakily.
She shook her head aimlessly before laying it on his forehead and muttering, “It’s harder than you think, Gabriel.” Even with your love, you will be unable to heal the grief I am carrying.
Every word she spoke seemed like a knife in his heart, making it impossible for him to breathe.
Gabriel’s grip on her intensified, and he refused to accept it.
“Give me a chance.” “Please let me heal you,” he mumbled, his breathing raspy from the anxiety in his chest.

It tore him apart to see her give up on them.
Why would he do this?
Why would he jeopardize her life like that?
Gabriel kept on asking these questions to himself ever since she brought up the topic about her pain.
“I promise you all the happiness in life, Eve, and I will never disappoint you,” he insisted, doing his best to show her how much she meant to him.
Eveline pulled back and saw him crying again.
Every tear that fell from his eyes pierced her heart, making it difficult for her to stand steadfast.
But suddenly something hit her, and she froze.
Her father’s remarks began to spin around her mind, prompting her to reconsider her decision.
She knew Gabriel loved her, and if she remained stubborn, she risked hurting him and losing her last shot at happiness.
Eveline believed she’d never be able to fall in love again after a disastrous marriage, but she also felt Gabriel was the one person she could find happiness with.
Her love for him had been unconditional, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to love that way again.
But now that everything has changed, should she continue to conduct her life based on her prior experiences?
Yes, it was irreplaceable, something she’d never forget, but was this rebirth an opportunity for her to change her fate?
She was resolved not to make the same mistake again, but how could she ever get over this man who was now on his knees asking for her love?
She wasn’t unkind, despite his being merciless in her previous existence.
He had never melted his heart for her, and now she was falling for his tears.
Why couldn’t she completely despise him?
Why was her heart so weak as she watched him in pain?
Why can’t she get past him, even though she knows he’ll simply remind her of the past?
“Please..” his soft voice shattered her thoughts, and she glanced at him with sad eyes.
Eveline couldn’t see him that way.
Her heart would be devastated if she made a mistake, but she was willing to swim into the same pool where she had previously drowned-his love.
Without saying anything, Eveline tenderly grabbed his face and leant in to kiss his lips.
‘I don’t know if you will ever recollect the past, but if you do, you will despise yourself Gabriel, which will be more terrible than my rejection.’ She murmured it mentally before softly opening her mouth to bite his lips.
Eveline had finally let her guard down and cracked open the door to feel the depth of his love, and this time it would be him who made the move, while she would enjoy being treasured.
“Ah,” he grunted, and Eveline quickly pulled back, only to find her hand resting on his bandage.
“I’m sorry.
I think we should stop,” she murmured quickly, going to step down when Gabriel flipped her onto the bed and hovered her.
He smashed his lips into her without warning, kissing her hungrily.
Eveline took a few seconds to process what was happening before slowly wrapping her arm around his neck and reciprocating.
