Chapter 144: Meet Alex Chapter 144: Meet Alex Tiffany stood confused when the door opened to see her mother waiting for her.

“Mom, why are you still at home?” Shouldn’t you be heading to work?” Tiffany was still unaware that it was the weekend, and Susan normally went late on those days.

“No, l will be going a little late, but that doesn’t mean I will let you sleep as much as you wish.” Tiffany scowled at her mother’s condensed words.

“I want to talk with you Tiffany, regarding the suggestion you gave me that day” Tiffany comprehended why her mother was so severe with her.

“Didn’t we make this obvious to you?

I assumed you must have discussed your decision with your Master.” Tiffany returned to being disrespectful to her mother when she awoke from her sleep.

“Not unless I know the reason behind what changed your perspective regarding Jacob that you agreed with him so easily?” A flicker of worry appeared in her eyes, but she quickly concealed it and returned to her arrogance, saying, “I simply agreed with him since our thoughts matched.

Didn’t I always want you to leave this job?” Susan nodded and remarked, “But the reasons were different, regardless of what your father had.

So I want to know what he did to you and why you cooperated with him.

She was not going to stop until she discovered what was going on between the two.

It was shocking to see them in such a healthy relationship.

She wasn’t unhappy, but something felt odd because she had never seen Tiffany and her father get along.

Tiffany, on the other hand, recognized her mother would not recede unless she received her answers, but what should she tell her?

Jacob had never given her a clear answer, other than agreeing with whatever he said.

She wasn’t aware of anything he was working on.

However, there was no way she would tell her mother what had happened between them.

“Mom there is nothing for us to talk about and if you are so eager why not go and ask dad instead” Susan wasn’t startled to hear her refer to her Jacob as dad rather than drunkard.

But that was not the objective here.

The man she was referring to was out for work, which raised enough concerns in her heart.

But she also realized she might follow Tiffany’s request and face her husband personally.

When she noticed her daughter was having difficulties, she dropped the notion for the time being and nodded.

“I’ll let it slide this time, but if I find out you and your father are up to something, I’ll be the first to punish you,” Susan said, causing Tiffany to wince, but she didn’t show any fear on her face.

“And I will not be leaving my job,” she said before turning and walking away.

Tiffany drew a deep breath and closed the door.

Finally, the solid facade she had built up over years began to fracture, and she groped for her heart.

Tiffany had never seen her mother speak so seriously.

But something about what she said sent shivers down her spine.

Tiffany couldn’t get the strength to face the odds.

However, she could not allow her fears to overcome her.

She needed to make sure she was on the safe side, and that was only possible if she meets Alex.

Tiffany took a moment to settle her tense nerves before rushing to the bathroom and taking a short shower before leaving the house.

Fortunately, Susan was nowhere to be found, so she believed she had left for work.

Tiffany soon arrived at the police station, and after some questioning, she was allowed to meet Alex .

She was led to the meeting room by one of the constables, and when she noticed Alex waiting for her, the lady took a step back, granting her the visit she sought.

Tiffany gulped as she took her seat and gazed at Alex through the glass wall.

The boy appeared so calm, which made her even more concerned.

“Alex,” she softly uttered his name, and the youngster slowly glanced up.

Tiffany’s heart skipped a beat when she noticed the blackness hovering over his eyes, but his face was serene and showed no signs of aggression.

Don’t pretend to care and ask me right away.

Don’t you want to know if I told the cops about our deal?” Tiffany was speechless as he stated this, and she immediately lost blood on her face.

Tiffany’s heart dropped, and she fisted her hand on her lap in fear.

Alex gave out a nasty chuckle, making Tiffany even more uncomfortable.

He was a maniac who could not be trusted, yet what he said next surprised her.

“Don’t worry, I haven’t and take it as a reward for helping me” Tiffany gave Alex a strange look and nodded.

She understood what he was saying, and for the first time since yesterday, she felt a wave of relief rush through her hammering heart.

“I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you.

I was too blinded by the fake concern and see where it took me,” Alex stated mockingly, but she didn’t find it too serious to be concerned about.

He was mocking himself, but there was an underlying rage that he tried to hide under his placid manner.

“What are they going to do with you?” Tiffany inquired, and he merely laughed it off.

“Nothing, because I won’t let them do anything,” Tiffany misunderstood his lighthearted comments.

There was no way Alex would be spared for attempting to murder twice.

Tiffany knew he tried to attack Gabriel not once, but twice.

So it was impossible for him to cooperate with the cops, nor could they oppose Winston and Miller’s lawyers, who would ensure he faced the repercussions.

Tiffany said nothing and left him to his delusions.

Now that she was certain he would not reveal her name anyplace, she decided to depart.

“By the way, I’d like to make a suggestion to you, but only if you listen,” he interrupted her thoughts.

Tiffany had no idea what he was about to say, but she decided to listen to him out of habit.
