Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 149
Chapter 149: She needed to reach out to him Chapter 149: She needed to reach out to him The next day, Eveline awoke to find the spot next to her cold and empty, signaling that Gabriel had indeed left.
She sighed and pushed herself to sit up, her gaze naturally drawn to the window.
“So he actually followed my words for once,” she said, looking aside before stretching her arm and getting out of bed.
Eveline slept soundly, but her discussion with Gabriel the night before haunted her.
She might have tried to avoid saying anything to him, but she knew Gabriel wouldn’t let her stay quiet long.
Standing under the shower, she let the warm water flow down her body.
Eveline’s mind had been preoccupied with a variety of things, but the one she most wanted to deal with was Tiffany.
Now that Alex had been arrested, Tiffany had to face the repercussions of her strategy.
Eveline quickly took a bath and prepared to depart for college.
“Where is dad, aunt Susan?” Eveline inquired, looking at the vacant chair on the breakfast table.
Usually, her father would wake up early, go for a morning stroll, and then spend some time in the yard reading the newspaper.
He would spend his leisure time waiting for his daughter to arrive and join him for breakfast before heading out to work.
But today, he was not present.
“Master left for work early, young Miss.
What would you want for breakfast?
We have a variety of tasty options,” Susan replied after informing Eveline of Jonathan’s whereabouts.
Eveline furrowed her brow, reflecting on Susan’s comments before asking for a basic English breakfast.
Eveline quickly finished her breakfast and stepped out of the house, only to discover Gabriel’s car waiting for her below the shades.
She hurriedly entered and noticed Gabriel staring at her with a thrilled expression on his face.
Eveline lingered for a while, taking in his soft eyes, before turning and closing the door.
Gabriel began the automobile ride by slowly moving her closer to him and kissing her on the cheek.
“Did you miss waking up next to me?” he inquired, reminding Eveline of her solo morning.
She may have felt relieved that he had left the house earlier, but deep down, she wanted him to be the first person she saw when she awoke.
Eveline nodded sheepishly, not hiding her feelings, and the next thing he did was pull her in for a kiss.
It wasn’t very long, yet it was enough to ignite her heart.
“Then I’ll wait until you wake up,” he whispered, caressing the lips he had just kissed.
As the couple lost themselves in their eyes, a phone call disrupted their serene moment, and Eveline hastily pulled back.
Gabriel let her go, annoyance clearly visible on his face, but he didn’t say anything and let her answer the phone.
“Hey, Eve.
How long will it take for you to come.” Gracey’s voice sounded a little apprehensive from the call, prompting Eveline to close her eyes tightly and nod in response.

“I’m on my way, Gracey.
We’ll be there in twenty minutes,” Eveline announced hastily.
“We?
Are you bringing someone?” she said, perplexed.
Eveline said it out of the blue, neglecting the fact that Gracey had no idea she was with Gabriel; instead, she just invented an alibi to conceal her error.
“I didn’t say ‘We’ but ‘Me’.” She laughed nervously, prompting Gabriel to arch her brow.
Gracey was perplexed by Eveliné’s slip of the tongue because she remembered it was ‘We’ and not ‘Me’, but she simply complied and accepted.
Gracey said, “Okay,” and they ended the conversation.
“Why would you lie to her?
Are you ashamed of me?
Gabriel’s booming voice led Eveline to turn to the side.
“I don’t want her to continue to have negative thoughts about our relationship.
You know what I mean,” she continued, rolling her eyes and shoving the phone back into her pocket.
Gabriel disliked the thought of her hiding him from her friends because he wanted everyone to know she was his and that they were together.
The drive to Aspen College was quiet, with Gabriel barely speaking.
Eveline felt a little more at ease as she considered how they could get Tiffany to confess her crime.
Eveline hurriedly got out of the car and walked to the location where she was scheduled to meet Gracey.
It was funny that every time Gracey sounded frightened, she had something to share, so she rushed into one of the activity rooms and slammed the door from within.
“Daniel, what are you doing here?” Eveline furrowed, finding Gracey and Daniel together.
It was strange how quickly they had bonded, but that wasn’t the source of her concerns; it was the meeting.
“Eve, you know what did I find?” Gracey ran towards her, a look of anxiety on her face.
Eveline frown deepened and she nodded, motioning her to speak “Tiffany went to meet Alex at the police station.” Eveline’s eyes flashed with bewilderment.
“How can you be certain?
I told you your work was over, so why did you still follow her?” Eveline expressed her displeasure, and Gracey immediately refuted her claim with a shake of her head.
“I did not follow her.
In fact, I witnessed one of the officers greet Tiffany after I entered the college,” she explained, leading Eveline to reflect on her remark.
Gracey walked to the college from the bus stop, only to see Tiffany strolling ahead of her.
She also observed a police cruiser with two cops standing outside, and when he saw her, he greeted her.
Gracey came to a halt in her tracks, only to witness Tiffany giving him a polite nod before fleeing as quickly as she could; however, when she attempted to walk past them, she heard the other ask him how he knew the girl, to which he replied that she had come to meet Alex.
Gracey’s disclosure was startling, but Tiffany would do anything to prevent Alex from disclosing her relationship with him.
“Maybe she went there to beg him to keep her name out of this mess,” she murmured, deep in thought.
Gracey and Daniel exchanged bewildered glances.
“But why would she risk going there?” Daniel inquired since he was aware of how their parents were kept informed about everything surrounding Alex’s predicament.
Eveline smirked and took a chair for herself, saying, “Why won’t she?
We’ve been putting her ass in danger.
She needed to reach out to him.” Gracey nodded in agreement, but a lingering concern disturbed her.
“Then how will we expose her?
Despite sending her notes, the girl isn’t ready to breach her tough exterior.” Eveline nodded in agreement.
“She will, and very soon,” she continued, leaving them both in the dark about what she had planned for her.
Eveline was not going to take it easy on Tiffany, especially since she had previously and currently targeted her.
She would make certain that this revelation stripped her of her naive image.
**** Meanwhile, Tiffany stood in front of the restroom mirror, staring into her dark eyes filled with fury, recalling Alex’s statements to her about his doubts about Gracey.
He occurred to tell her that he had seen Gracey in the classroom the other day, and when she noticed him, her demeanor changed from calm to nervous, casting doubt on her intentions.
Alex was interrupted by Eveline at the time, so he couldn’t confront Gracey, but now that he thinks about it, he’s certain she was behind those notes.
Tiffany couldn’t help but mock her foolishness.
She had been mistaken about Gracey, but now that the truth had been revealed, she needed to make it clear where she stood.
Gracey was attempting to provoke the wrong person in order to exact revenge on her.
“How can you be so stupid, Gracey?” “You think such threats will scare me now that I’ve discovered your true face?” Tiffany’s smile faded as something snapped in her, and she gently tilted her head in concern.
“Does that mean she knows I am the one who trapped her by sending those notes?” Tiffany’s eyes sparkled with disbelief, and her lips quivered with awareness.
She was rendered speechless, knowing that a dumb girl like Gracey could even come to know about her scheme unless and until someone told her.
“Now you have me, Gracey.
You think you are that smart to fight me.
No, you aren’t, but I will make sure you think of it for the time being by filling in the information with the ones that are helping you.” **** After the conversation concluded, Eveline cast a suspicious look at Daniel and inquired.
“Daniel, you still have not told me.
What are you doing here with Gracey?” Gracey cast worried glances at Daniel, who simply opened and closed his mouth like a gasping fish seeking breathe.
He was indeed asking Gracey to devise a rescue plan, but she had no idea what to answer when he followed her and asked her to go out with him like the other day.
Eveline examined their expressions and proclaimed, “I hope you aren’t causing trouble for her, and if you are pleading with her to lie again, don’t do it because you both suck at it.” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS akshaya_vanne keep voting..
