Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 166
Chapter 166: Something horrific Chapter 166: Something horrific Days passed, and the semester eventually came to an end.
Eveline and Gabriel both focused on their studies.
She pledged to work hard and get herself back on track, so he wouldn’t be upset knowing she had ignored her education.
Her only life’s purpose was to make Gabriel happy and be someone good to him.
He was the moon, and she was the stars, surrounding him with a sparkling embrace, eager to hug him exactly as he was.
She already changed herself for him, making sure there wasn’t a space left for him to complain.
He advised her to prioritize her academics and get a career.
He wanted her to have a dream for herself and make her loved ones proud.
But he didn’t know her only dream was to be with him for the rest of her life.
Eveline was thrilled that Gabriel had finally started talking to her.
It wasn’t much, but she was glad he did.
Now that everything between them has returned to normal.
She was looking forward to proposing to him.
All these years, she had only admired him from the sidelines, hoping that one day he would notice her.
However, she wanted to show her affection for him right away.
She felt that the graduation party day would be the finest time to profess her love for him.
Gabriel would shortly leave, and she had nearly a year till graduation, so she chose to seal their relationship in the hopes of a favorable outcome.
Eveline knew Gabriel cared for her, and just like Stefan said, he only paid attention to her and no one else.
The thought of Gabriel having feelings for her made her heart flutter, but he was too shy to admit it.
She even informed Tiffany of her ideas, and she encouraged her.
Eveline was excited to see how Gabriel would respond, and the prospect made her giddy.
She stepped out of the conference room after ensuring that everything was properly organized and proceeded to the dean’s office to report on the update regarding the program.
The entire campus was adorned, counters were placed, games were scheduled, and even a ball was organized.
Both the staff and the students were required to prepare speeches in which they wished their peers all the best on their next adventures.
The day was going to be wonderful, or so Eveline expected, but little did she know that after this day, her life would take a one eighty -degree turn, leaving her in tatters.
“Brother Stefan, where is Gabriel?” Eveline inquired as she approached the table inside the canteen, where she discovered Stefan and Daniel, but Gabriel was nowhere to be found.
“I’m not sure where he is.
In fact, I haven’t seen him since the morning.” Stefan said with a shrug, confusing Eveline.
“I’m not sure what brother is up to, but he seemed a little invested in something I couldn’t really understand,” Daniel said thoughtfully, capturing Eveline and Stefan’s attention.
“What does that mean?
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Isn’t your brother continuously invested in everything other than being true to his heart?” Stefan’s statement caused Eveline to flush.
She was aware of the implication he was making, and the thought of it still astounded her.
“By the way, what got him invested this time?
Do not tell me he opted to leave the celebration.
If so, I promise I would pull him in his boxers here.” Stefan’s words were only a joke with a hint of warning, causing Daniel to chuckle in response.
“I’d like to see how you can do that, brother.” He mocked, knowing very well that Stefan doesn’t stand that boldness before Gabriel.
“Whatever, but he cannot ditch me,” he said in response.
While the group was talking in the canteen, Gabriel wandered around the flower shop, admiring the adorned bouquets and hoping to buy one she liked.
Yes, Gabriel intended to reveal his affections for Eveline.
After a long argument with his emotions and mind, he realized he had always been in love with her.
He understood Eveline was more than just another girl; she was someone he had grown to admire over the years.
She just did not fantasize about him but rather adored him in a way he could not deny.
Gabriel also wanted to apologize to her for being disrespectful, which caused them to drift apart.
He regretted it for a long time, but he wanted to make amends when he finally faced his feelings.
Gabriel was grateful for their time apart, which taught him how much she meant to him and how much he missed hearing her conversations despite not being the one to respond.
He was used to hearing her and seeing her make attempts for him, but one misunderstanding brought out the worst in him, and he blamed her without knowing the truth.
“What flowers are you looking for, young man?” the lady seller inquired, interrupting his lovely train of thoughts.
Eveline’s scent of lilies had always soothed Gabriel.
It was peaceful and invigorating in a manner that made him want to keep her close.
So when asked what he was looking for, the words came out of his mouth.
“Lilies,” he said, and the lady smiled as she walked towards the spot to gather fresh lilies to construct a bouquet.
Gabriel exited the shop and was about to get into his car when he was interrupted by the sound of his phone vibrating.
Opening the door, he entered and read the message he had received from Tiffany, which stated, ‘Eveline is arranging something tonight.
I aim to give a heads up.’ Gabriel furrowed his brow as he found her message strange, but he didn’t concentrate on it for too long before starting the car and driving away.
Tiffany gave him a bad vibe for some reason, but he couldn’t just point at her because she was friends with Eveline.
Maybe he was mistaken, just like he was wrong to judge Eveline.
‘Anyway, whatever she had planned, I am looking forward to it,’ he told himself, waiting for the time to pass so he could finally confess to her.
***** The celebration was in full swing, and the students were thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Gabriel and Stefan were drinking and enjoying the festivities.
However, his gaze was drawn to Eveline, who was strolling around with one of her team members.
“Now that you didn’t ditch me for the party, tell me where were you the entire day?” Stefan inquired, casting a deep, interested stare at him.
Gabriel knew Daniel would have spilled rubbish in front of them, but he didn’t want to spill the beans until he had a reason to announce.
“Busy with some work,” he said carelessly, lifting his brow in contemplation.
Stefan recognized it was pointless to bother Gabriel because he wouldn’t entertain him, so he continued to focus his attention forward.
His eyes were sparkling with excitement when a girl approached and pulled Stefan away, carrying him to the dance floor.
Gabriel continued to sip from the orange juice in his hand, shaking his head in astonishment as he watched Stefan relish the greatest moment of his life.
As time went on, Gabriel felt an odd sensation surge through his body, making him feel heated and labored to breathe.
His gaze immediately shifted to the beverage he was holding, causing him to scowl.
His eyes scoured the crowd, but he couldn’t spot Eveline anywhere.
Something was wrong with the drinks, and he had to tell her, but her absence simply made matters worse.
“Where are you going?” Stefan wondered as he watched Gabriel straighten up, ready to depart upon their arrival.
“Just a moment,” he mumbled, urging Stefan before leaving.
As he moved away from the crowd and into a secluded area, he found his head becoming heavy and his body sweating profusely.
Gabriel had no idea what had happened to him, but the next second, everything spun around him and turned dark in front of his eyes.
**** Meanwhile, Eveline’s limp body was being taken to a hotel room.
She kept blabbing incoherently, pleading with the person to let her go, but the man merely ignored her and led her to the designated room.
She was drugged, and the worst part was she had no idea how or why.
As they proceeded forward, Eveline attempted to gaze at the individual, but her foggy vision prohibited her from seeing fully through his features.
All she could see was a mask on his face and a strong grip around her waist, as if he was determined not to lose her.
Soon, she heard the sound of a clicking door and was quickly scooped up and carried to the bed.
Eveline’s body began to heat up as the adrenaline flowed through her veins, making her needy all at once.
“W-who are you?” She murmured, breathless, but the man grinned and caressed her lips with his thumb, making her feel disgusted.
Eveline became tense, fearing that something might go wrong.
She jerked off his hand and attempted to stand, but the drug’s effects prevented her from doing so, causing her to lose balance twice.
Eveline observed the man remove his cap and set it aside.
He then removed his jacket and threw it on the floor.
Eveline’s throat dried up and her tears welled up at the prospect of something horrific that would leave her with scars.
‘What is wrong with me?
Please God, help me…’ She mentally pleaded for aid, and then his phone rang, putting an halt to his action.
“Damn it, I gave you one job and you failed.
Wait, I’ll be there,” the man said, swiftly putting on his jacket and exiting the room.
He assumed Eveline, who was under the influence of the drug, would be powerless to do anything, but he was mistaken; she summoned her strength and forced her body down the bed, towards the door, and fled.
She staggered a few paces and reached inside a room, where she was slumped inside by the open door.
She instinctively locked the door, hoping to protect herself from the molester.
Just when she believed she was safe, her body was pinned against the same door, and her lips were grabbed for a fierce kiss.
