Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 167
Chapter 167: Everything changed Chapter 167: Everything changed “You must accept responsibility for Eveline, and that is final,” Richard said, leaving no space for Gabriel to protest.
Gabriel clenched his fist and said, “I will.
She will not endure any humiliations, and that is a promise.” Eveline shook her head and gazed at Gabriel through weeping eyes, but before she could reach him, he walked away, leaving her alone.
Following the graduation party, Eveline awoke in her hotel room with none other than Gabriel at her side.
She knew they had been drugged, but Gabriel refused to believe her and blamed her for the whole thing.
She tried to explain, but he showed her images of her chatting with one of the waiters about spiked drinks and bringing him to the hotel.
Gabriel knew something was wrong and wanted to tell her about it, but he never imagined the girl he was so eager to meet would be the one to bring him to that state, simply to take advantage of him.
He was about to propose to her, but his dream shattered when he realized that she turned out to be just like other girls, appreciating him for his body, but not loving him.
His life was never the same after that day, when uncle Jonathan discovered the incident and ordered him to accept responsibility for the problems he had caused his daughter.
He was so devastated by everything that he began to believe whatever Tiffany said.
The warning she gave him proved to be true, and he realized what a fool he was to believe Eveline actually liked him.
Eveline attempted to manipulate the situation by lying to him, but how could he refuse pictures that were true?
He realized that all she did was make him acknowledge her, which he had refused to do all along.
She was smart, not naive, as she depicted.
Regardless of what he saw or thought of her, the sight of her tears made his eyes melt.
He genuinely liked her, but she wasn’t looking for love, only the pleasure that came from sleeping with him.
She told him she had been drugged, therefore why couldn’t they discover it in her reports?
Why was it only him who was drugged, not her?
The truth was that she wasn’t.
“Dad, please hear me out,” Eveline attempted to say, but Jonathan interrupted her.
“I won’t, because it’s best for you,” he said, not giving her a chance or listening to her after learning Gabriel had declined everything.
And with that, they were obliged to marry.
They thought it was the wisest decision because they were destined to marry in the future, but they had no idea their children’s lives would change.
***** Three years passed in a blink as Eveline isolated herself from everyone. She abandoned her education after marriage to focus on improving her marriage.
But no matter what, she wouldn’t be able to win her husband’s love.
Gabriel blamed her for everything, despite her informing him that she was also drugged and that they were both victims. Stefan, who had been friends with them, attempted to speak with Gabriel, but all he received was a no, that he would not forget anything, and that his life would never be the same again because Eveline had taken everything away from him.
Eveline waited for her husband to return home as usual, hoping that he would join her for supper tonight.
It was their wedding anniversary, and she wanted to spend time with him.
But now that she looked at the time, she realized it was futile.
“Young Miss, should I reheat the food?” Eveline stared at the maid, who reminded her of Susan, her nanny, with whom she had lost touch after her marriage.

She would first visit her and discuss matters between her and Gabriel, but she always observed a glimmer of dread in her eyes everytime she said no.
She was upset and continued to remind her that it was entirely her fault for failing to protect her.
Eveline assumed she was saying this out of care for her, but Susan stopped coming after a few visits, and she soon learned from her father that she had also resigned from her work.
It had been two years since she’d seen her.
She stopped answering her phone because it was constantly turned off.
Susan’s disappearance was a major blow for Eveline because she was the only one she would talk to.
Though Stefan would listen to her, Susan was a motherly figure with whom she confided everything.
Eveline was courteous and shook her head.
The maid left, and Eveline, as usual, waited for Gabriel.
“He must be busy at work,” she mumbled.
Eveline didn’t realize she had fallen asleep while waiting for her until she heard the sound of something heavy crashing to the floor, which shocked her awake.
Gabriel swayed on his feet as she entered the house.
As usual, he got intoxicated on their anniversary, emphasizing his displeasure.
Eveline summoned her bravery and dashed towards him, offering assistance.
He cast a quick glimpse at her as she helped him to his room.
Eveline remained silent, knowing that speaking would be fruitless because he would simply blame her in return.
She had become accustomed to his hatred to the point where she fell into melancholy and began taking medication.
Eveline understood their parents’ decision would have no positive consequences for them; in fact, it would make their lives worse.
As Eveline helped Gabriel sit on the bed and turned to reach for a glass of water on the side table, she was violently yanked and pinned to the bed.
Gabriel hovered over her in an instant and began kissing her eagerly.
Eveline didn’t limit him and let him do whatever he wanted because she was used to his desires being triggered only when he was intoxicated.
Call her pathetic, but she loved him despite his disinterest.
That night, she submitted to her love for him, and as usual, he left her the next morning.
‘Is there any way for me to open your heart?’ Eveline asked, allowing a tear to fall from her eyes as she began her day with a smile.
