Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 168
Chapter 168: I must appear to love her Chapter 168: I must appear to love her Back within the basement, Gabriel faced the man, who shuddered under his piercing gaze.
“He is ready to admit the truth,” Stefan stated, blowing on his wounded knuckle from pounding the snot out of the man.
Gabriel said nothing and pulled the chair for himself before sitting down in front of the man who cried in pain.
“Please do not kill me.
I’ll tell you everything,” he said quickly, eager to accept the crime.
He was the same waiter that was photographed and later used as evidence to frame Eveline.
To his amazement, his doubt turned out to be correct.
It was all done by Tiffany, her so-called best friend.
“I had warned Eveline about the girl.” Stefan gritted his jaw, remembering his admonition to Eveline back then.
“But she took him seriously, I guess, and now look what she’s done.” “Do you still don’t believe her now?” Stefan questioned, his teeth gritted in rage as he looked at Gabriel.
Stefan’s eyes were blazing with rage, ready to burn him alive.
The grief he caused Eveline by refusing to believe her and allowing his insecurities to overshadow his thinking ruined their lives.
He had seen him in pain every day.
They were both hurting, but Gabriel was to fault for it.
Despite knowing Eveline, he ventured to mistrust her and on what grounds because of certain images, allowing his insecure mind to rush with suspects that caused her to question herself.
If not for his feeble brain picking up Tiffany’s actions, he would not have come to work on uncovering the reality that she had managed to hide from them.
Gabriel didn’t say a word and accepted Stefan’s harsh words.
He deserved it.
All the hate ,all the hurtful words, he deserved it.
He clenched his jaw and looked at the man, asking, “You said she wasn’t alone in it, which implies there was someone else involved.
So, who is it?
Name him.” Gabriel’s deadpan voice reverberated through the silence, sending shivers down Stefan’s spine.
He knew Gabriel hated all he done and he wouldn’t leave anything behind to make up for his faults.
The man shivered under his scrutinizing gaze and shook his head.
“I don’t know him.” He was wearing a mask the entire time.
“I couldn’t see his face,” he admitted honestly.
Gabriel’s gaze did not appear to leave him, but he knew he was not lying.
“Hand him over to the cops and make sure he rot in the prison” Gabriel rose up to leave, but Stefan stopped him.
“Are you not going to tell her about your plan?” he inquired, furrowing his brow.
“Not right now.

I need to find out who aided Tiffany.
Until then, I’ll have to pretend in front of her,” he murmured, his heart contracting at his own words.
“It’ll hurt her, Gabriel.” Stefan warned, his eyes filled with concern for his sister, who was already living a shallow life as a result of this man he once considered a friend.
Stefan never imagined he’d come to detest Gabriel, despite the fact that he was also hurting.
But, in the end, he caused his own anguish.
He pushed away the girl who loved him more than anything else in the world over a simple snapshot, doubting her character in such a way that she was deeply upset.
“In just a few days, I’ll force Tiffany to reveal the truth, but first I must appear to love her.” “It’s the only way Stefan,” his eyes pled, and Stefan turned away.
“Gabriel, make it short this time and ask her forgiveness.
Only then will you have your friend by your side,” he finished before walking past him.
**** That night, Gabriel arrived home late.
He had been pretending to have an affair with Tiffany in order to force her to confess her crimes and reveal the identity of the person who attempted to molest Eveline that night.
The man’s revelations made his fury boil, but he was grateful that Eveline was able to save herself from that stranger.
Despite her best efforts, she was unable to escape him.
The guilt would keep him trapped indefinitely since it would remind him of his apathy and coldness toward her.
But he vows to make things right and begs her until she finds it within herself to forgive him.
He would give her the love she had always desired.
He would dance to her tune, fill her life with colors and brightness, restoring the beaming smile on her face, but first he needed to punish those who damaged their lives for selfish reasons.
Gabriel knew Eveline would be asleep by now, so he went straight to his room without making his presence known.
But little did he know Eveline was a light sleeper who would awaken at the slightest sound.
She heard the creak of the door and knew he had returned home.
Eveline had wanted to tell Gabriel something for a few days, but he was either barely home or left for work early.
She was showing signs of pregnancy, but she had no idea until today that she was going to be a mother.
Despite their deteriorating marriage, Eveline was hopeful that after learning about his child, Gabriel would finally show pity for her and treat her with care.
So when he returned, she decided to tell him everything.
Eveline tapped on the door before opening it and walking in.
She realised Gabriel was not inside but was currently taking a bath.
So she chose to wait.
While doing so, she couldn’t help but smile and tenderly stare down at her stomach, slowly bringing her hand to caress it.
“I believe you’ll brighten our lives, baby.
I can’t wait to meet you,” she mumbled, a smile spreading across her face wide this time.
Eveline was anxiously waiting for Gabriel when she noticed his phone flickering with a notification.
She initially opted to ignore it, but after a time, she couldn’t take it any longer and reached out to check.
Her entire life came to a halt when she read Tiffany’s message, and it was then that she realized her husband and her friend were having an illicit affair.
Eveline’s eyes welled up with tears, and she hurriedly set the phone down and ran out of the room, not waiting for Gabriel longer.
