Chapter 178: Why are your cheeks red?
“Uh, Gabriel, we can’t.
Did you forget you were supposed to take me to Tiffany?” She pushed him slightly, breaking the kiss and looking at him awkwardly.
Gabriel’s visage hardened at the mention of Tiffany’s name, and his eyes darkened as he returned his gaze to Eveline.
He was displeased, but because he had promised Eveline that he would accompany her to the police station, he swiftly pulled back and pushed himself to sit up.
Eveline blinked her eyes and began to approach him from behind.
Her hands rested on her pounding heart, wondering if she had upset him, but before she could inquire, she heard him say.
“Get ready.
I’ll come pick you up,” he murmured, gazing over his shoulder.
Eveline knew Gabriel despised the thought of meeting Tiffany after what she had done to her, but she was determined to confront her one final time.
With enough evidence against her, Eveline felt she had little hope of being released, therefore, it was best to say her farewell one final time.
Gabriel hurriedly got dressed and turned to gaze at Eveline, who had already pulled her pants up.
When their gazes connected, Gabriel came up to her and kissed her.
“I love you,” he whispered, pulling back and pointing to the side table, where he had placed the ointment for her to administer to her painful portion.
“I hope it relieves you,” he added, and she stared at him with admiration.
Eveline was moved by his gesture, which was becoming increasingly impressive with each passing day.
In gratitude for his consideration, she moved forward and kissed him again, but this time for a bit longer.
When they ran out of breath, they parted ways, and Gabriel quickly exited her room through the window.
Eveline smiled contentedly as she entered the bathroom.
**** Gabriel drove to Winston Mansion and entered the home, only to find his mother working.
As soon as her eyes rested on him, she paused and said, “Gabriel, where are you coming from early morning?” Gabriel’s steps came to a standstill, and he turned to face his mother’s shocked voice, which caused him to chew his lips.
Gabriel made sure he wasn’t noticed all these days while sneaking into Eveline’s room, allowing him to leave and return home with ease.
But now that his mother has seen him, he needs to lie.
“Just a morning walk,” he added with a smile that piqued Belle’s interest.
“Morning walk, and without your jogging outfit.
Impressive,” she replied, her lips curled into a sarcastic smile.
Gabriel felt it was a lame lie, so he decided not to play for long and stated, “I went to Miller Mansion.” Belle nodded, realizing that his remarks made sense.
She knew her kid had been out since the previous night, but she appeared to be innocent until he revealed the truth himself.
It was weird to witness her son’s behavior shift so dramatically, but she was relieved that he was finally becoming expressive.

Fortunately, he did not allow his trauma to consume him, and he was ultimately able to open his heart.
“I’m glad my son is finally becoming expressive.
It’s great to see you living a regular life after that incident.” Belle’s eyes welled up with tears as she observed his harsh demeanor.
Gabriel didn’t want to think about it, especially since he was finally over it.
“I am glad I did,” he replied, relaxing himself and taking a seat close to his mother.
Belle smiled and caressed his face.
“That’s not fair, Mom; you forgot you had another son.
Why so much affection for him?” Daniel arrived only to find the mother and son combo sharing a nice moment.
Belle chuckled, and Gabriel rolled his eyes.
“Is there any way she’ll forget you if you keep reminding her of your existence every now and then?” he remarked, prompting Daniel to hurl daggers at him.
Ignoring his brother, Daniel sat next to his mother and hugged her.
“I am the youngest, and I deserve to be adored and nurtured.
That goes for you too, brother,” he added, staring at him before settling into the sofa.
“Anyway, where’s Dad?
Did he already leave for work?” Daniel inquired, looking around.
“No, he’ll be downstairs shortly, and I advise you to behave,” she warned before turning to look at Gabriel and saying, “And you go and freshen up.
Your father has things to talk with you.” Gabriel nodded and promptly excused himself, rushing straight to his room, while Daniel glanced at his mother, who was reviewing some documents.
His eyes glistened with excitement as she approved Gracey’s mother’s portfolio and hired her as one of their company’s chefs.
“Are you happy?” Belle inquired, smiling broadly at her son.
“Yes,” he said.
Gabriel and Richard soon arrived downstairs, joining them at the breakfast table, as he spoke.
“Gabriel, I believe you need to get into the business sooner than planned.
With so many new branches around the world, it’s difficult for me to keep up with the company’s activity,” Richard explained carefully.
He understood Gabriel wanted to graduate first and then become the new CEO, but Richard needed him sooner because the work required it.
Furthermore, he couldn’t just drag Daniel around knowing he was still in his first year of college, so he asked him to keep track of the stocks and a few other aspects of their business.
“Okay,” Gabriel replied immediately away, understanding his father’s worries.
Gabriel wasn’t opposed to the idea of having an internship at the company, but now that his father wants him, he should oblige by joining the company.
Richard was happy with his decision and nodded in agreement.
They had a pleasant breakfast before Gabriel left for Miller Mansion to pick up Eveline, while Richard and Daniel headed to their separate jobs.
**** [Batter up Bakery] “You don’t know how grateful I am.” Gracey began thanking him after he stated that her mother was one of Winston International’s chefs.
“If you want to thank me, treat me to your mouth-watering donuts.” Daniel said, “I will gladly accept your gratitude,” and she nodded in agreement.
Daniel had been terrified from the moment he couldn’t contact her.
He believed she was busy at first, but then his mind raced with the possibility that she had grown bored of his blabbering and clinginess.
However, it came out that she was kidnapped by Tiffany, who intended to kill her later.
Thankfully, with Eveline’s assistance, they were able to locate Gracey and extract her from the abandoned house before she was slain.
When he considered the worst-case scenario, he experienced a peculiar sensation in his heart.
It was uncommon to consider Gracey’s implications, but finding her safe and sound allowed him to rest.
Gracey soon brought the donuts and handed them to him to enjoy.
She then sat in the chair across from him, watching him swallow it.
A happy feeling crept into her heart as she realized how much Daniel and his family had been like children to her.
They’d only known each other for a few days, yet he made her feel as if they’d known each other forever.
Gracey was aware that Daniel was a year younger than her and the son of the owner of Aspen College.
It would be inappropriate to have such feelings about him, especially given how much he has helped her.
Despite this, she couldn’t stop herself from secretly admiring him.
Gracey had no idea if Daniel would ever see her the same way she did, so she was content to like him from a distance without expecting anything.
“What happened?
Why are you staring at me like that?” Daniel inquired, having seen her gaze on him for quite some time.
He had been polite with his gestures, but she was staring at him like that.
Why?
Gracey snapped out of her thoughts and cleared her throat.
She felt a quick burst of heat on her cheeks and blushed.
“Do you want more?” she inquired, disregarding his gaze and furrow.
Daniel instinctively touched Gracey’s cheek and questioned, “Why are your cheeks red?” Gracey blinked her eyes in surprise as she watched him inspect her face.
Daniel noticed the pink stain on her cheeks before his gaze settled on her pink lips.
This was his first time scrutinizing a woman’s face, and Gracey had the most beautiful features he had ever seen in a girl.
The desire to kiss her rose in his heart, and his lips parted at the thought.
Gracey felt her heart pounding in her chest as Daniel continued to look at her with those inquisitive eyes.
She had no idea what he was thinking, but their current situation was not ideal.
“Daniel,” she muttered, breaking him out of his trance, but he still held her face.
Her skin was so silky that he didn’t want to let go until they heard the bell rattle, and she pushed away forcefully.
Rose was out at Winston International finishing out the last details for her job, so she asked Gracey to look at the shop.
She was pleased she did, though, since under Daniel’s gaze, she felt intimidated.
