Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 187
Chapter 187: Who is Jedrick?
Chapter 187: Who is Jedrick?
The sound of cutlery filled the dining area as Jonathan and Eveline ate their dinner.
After a long silence, Eveline decided to pull out the envelope and hand it to Jonathan.
“What is this?” he questioned, picking up the brown object and opening it to see inside.
Jonathan frowned at the invitation card and opened it to read it, unaware of Eveline’s piercing eyes on him from the side.
“You have an invitation from some Jedrick,” her words paused him in his seat, and his gaze scanned the complete context of the offer.
Eveline read it, which surprised Jonathan because he hadn’t anticipated her doing so.
Now that she has, though, would she ask him what word is mentioned the most in it?
“Who is this Jedrick, and why did he mention brother in the invitation?” Eveline asked, her demeanor serene and discreet.
She remembered that her father was his parents’ only child, so who was Jederick to call him his brother?
Jonathan fumbled through his thoughts as he glanced at Eveline with a ghostly white expression.
“It must be a typing mistake,” Jonathan mumbled as he quickly slipped the card into the envelope and resumed eating.
“Dad, the invitation was sent handwritten.
How could there be a printing mistake?” She asked, her look serious as she saw her father lying just in front of her.
Eveline’s attention would not have sparked if the invitation hadn’t been handwritten.
It just means that the individual composed it on purpose with the intention of sending it to him.
Jonathan paused his meal to meet Eveline’s persistent gaze.
He had no clue his daughter would catch up on his comments so quickly, and now his mistake has caused her to stare at him with curiosity.
“Oh, this is handwritten.
That is very thoughtful of Jedrick.
Um, actually, Jedrick is an old friend, which is why he called me brother,” Jonathan said hesitantly.
Eveline saw her father smile, but it was not genuine.
But, if her father did not want her to know anything, she should not compel him.
If he says the invitation was given by an old buddy, he might not be lying.
Jonathan closely watched Eveline before she nodded in agreement.
“It’s great to see people still penning personal invitations for their pals.
I assume he’s a good friend.
But why haven’t I heard of it before?
She asked.

Jonathan sighed a sigh of relief and looked away, saying, “He doesn’t stay in this country” Eveline nodded and resumed her meal.
They soon finished their dinner and went to their room.
It was strange to see Jonathan lie to her, but he forgot she wouldn’t fall for his lies and accept all he said.
She had noted how his visage turned ghostly pale when she uttered Jedrick’s name, and it was enough to make her question his identity in his life.
As she watched Jonathan enter his room, Eveline too opened the door and walked inside.
Since the examinations were approaching, Eveline decided to study for a while.
But before she could read the book, her phone started ringing.
“Think of the Devil and the Devil calls,” she muttered, shaking her head in surprise before answering the phone.
“We only parted a few hours ago, Gabriel.
Can’t you give me a break for once?” she asked pathetically.
“Two hours is a more than adequate respite.
Just be grateful that I did not sneak into your room.” Eveline remained motionless, thinking his remarks, and understood he was telling the truth.
It was almost the time he usually got into her room, but now not finding him there, she breath a sigh of relief.
“But if you want me to extend the break, I’ll have to jump through your window,” he continued, and she shook her head immediately.
“You won’t do that, Gabriel?” she cautioned.
“Try me, Eve.
For you, I can do anything,” he said, and she grumbled in defeat.
“Okay, fine.
I will not ask you to give me a break.
But please spare me so I may study,” she pleaded, hoping at least in the name of exams he would drop the idea of consuming her time.
“That is doable if you allow me to observe you studying.
That way, I’ll be able to make up for my absence tonight.” he announced causing her to furrow.
“And how is that possible?” she queried, to which he responded with a groan.
“Eve, baby, what your cellphone for.” Eveline remained perplexed until the call ended, and her phone rang again, this time with Gabriel on Facetime.
Eveline took a deep breath, realizing the significance of his caustic challenge, and answered the phone.
“I wonder how often you use your phone.
But don’t worry, you’ll be studying every night till you finish your tests.” Eveline looked at him with bewilderment.
“You must be kidding.
What if I stayed awake all night?” She said, “Will you continue to see me?” Because she was aware of Gabriel’s unpredictable nature, she could not help but give him a serious look when he replied in the affirmative.
Eveline could not help but part her lips in disbelief before giving up arguing with him.
“Okay, suit yourself.
But if you disturb me, I will end the call,” she warned, and he nodded before relaxing on his bed.
Eveline shook her head in disappointment and opened the book to read.
She was trying to concentrate, but Gabriel’s intense gaze was making her nervous.
Despite being on the opposite side of the screen, she could not help but be intimidated by his intense gaze.
As she caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of her eye, she realized Gabriel was already staring at her intently.
“You appear distracted.
What happened, couldn’t focus?” He teased, catching her red-handed while she stole a glance at him.
When she glared at him, his lips curled into a playful grin.
“How can I concentrate if you keep looking at me like that?” She posed the question.
Eveline assumed she would not mind if Gabriel facetimed her while studying.
But as time passed, she realized how intimidating his gaze was, and she could not keep herself from getting distracted.
“Was not that the deal?
I watching you study?
How can you blame me for not being able to concentrate?” he asked, feigning innocence.
Eveline had no idea Gabriel would be cunning like a chameleon, changing colors.
He was also witty with his words, causing her to question herself.
Eveline closed her eyes and took a deep breath to focus her attention back on her studies when she heard him passing flirty remark “Do that again, and I will come to claim your lips.” Her eyes widened and she gave him a puzzled expression.
‘Was breathing illegal now?’ she mused.
Gabriel had been attempting to distract himself by remaining cool, but the more he looked at her, the stronger his desire to go there and kiss her became prominent.
Gabriel sighed as she continued to remain silent.
He was trying hard not to lose control, so he asked her to look away.
“Do not look at me like that, Eve.
My dick getting hard,” he said, and her jaw dropped at his shameless remark.
Was this the same Gabriel who had never said these indecent things to her?
She realised how mistaken she had been to believe he was one of those good guys.
Yes, he was still a good guy, but he was not always this pervert.
“Gabriel, I swear I am going to hang up if you keep saying such incoherent words,” she spat, feeling the effects of his remark on her body.
She might never say it, but everything he said right now was making her feel wet between her legs.
But she quickly dismissed those sensual thoughts and turned away.
“I will not let your words affect me,” she mumbled under her breath and began to concentrate.
Gabriel noticed her saying something to herself, but she was not audible, and he did not try to ask her, knowing how strongly his instincts were kicking in.
As the time passed by, Gabriel began to feel dizzy.
He tried his hardest not to let sleep take over his mind, but he failed and fell asleep while the facetime was still on.
Eveline, who had been studying for a long time, noticed Gabriel’s silence and decided to steal another glance, but this time instead of staring at her, she found him deep asleep.
A sense of relief washed over her face, and she breathed in relief before focusing her full attention on him.
She had seen him sleeping several times and felt compelled to touch and kiss him.
So, when she realized her man was fast asleep, she leaned in and kissed his face on her phone screen.
“Good night,” she said before returning her gaze to the book.
Eveline had been studying hard when fatigue overcame her tired eyes and she fell asleep.
Throughout the night, the call remained on; only at the sound of a bird chirping did she stir slightly before falling back asleep, unaware of the man who was admiring her on the other side.
“My Eve,” he mumbled, leaning forward and kissing the screen before falling asleep.
