***** “And why do you care what others think?
It’s not like we’re ever going to give a fuck about what they say to us,” Stefan replied casually, only to be slapped on the arm.
“Language Stefan!” Ella warned, and he shrugged his shoulders, unconcerned about what he said.
“And yes, I care what people say because, at the end of the day, they will not consider my hard work but the rumors that have spread about me,” she explained, causing Stefan to frown.
“Rumors?” Stefan cocked his brow, catching one particular word and looking at her inquisitively.
Ella averted her sight and returned her attention to the laptop screen, causing Stefan to frown.
“What about rumors, Dove?
Are you hiding something from me?” he said, his voice rising slightly.
Ella had been disregarding allegations in the office that she was wooing Stefan for personal benefit.
She expected the chatter to quiet down or at least reduce with time.
But as time passed, the conversations became more prominent, and even after turning a blind eye, she couldn’t completely avoid it.
“What I mean is, why not take the time to learn more about ourselves?
Furthermore, you will shortly be taking over as CEO.
So I want you to work on it first before telling your parents about us,” she added in a practical manner that didn’t sit well with Stefan.
Ella might not have told him, but he had a way of finding out what she was trying to avoid telling him.
“Okay, if that’s what you want, but as soon as I take over the position, the first thing we do is meet my parents and tell them about us and that final,” Stefan declared, prompting Ella to caution, but she quickly nodded in agreement with his decision.
Ella did not want the rumors about them to affect either of their careers, but she was comfortable with things going as planned and them making their relationship public.
**** [Library] Eveline scrolled through her phone, looking for information on her father’s history, but to her amazement, there was nothing substantial to support her suspicions.
Everything Jonathan had ever told her was the only information available on the internet.
It was odd that he never disclosed any information about his past, family, or wife.
There were a few times when the interviewer asked about his wife, but he dismissed it and moved on to another subject, implying that he disliked discussing his personal life.
But was it just to the outside world, because it was the same as what she knew.
Growing up, Eveline never saw a single relative from her parents’ side visit them.
Richard and Marcus were always together with their families.
But they were only his friends.
Eveline knew her grandparents from the photos in Jonathan’s room, and her mother from her limited memories.
Apart from that, there was no difference.
Eveline once asked Jonathan why they didn’t have any relatives, and he explained that he was his parents’ only child.

Eveline believed what he said at the time, but now she wonders if that’s all there is to it.
“What are you looking in your phone” Eveline was startled out of her thoughts by a voice, and she quickly looked in its direction, only to discover that it was Gabriel.
Gabriel missed dropping her off at college as he drove to the company with Richard.
It was his first day, so she expected him to arrive late.
But he arrived earlier than planned.
“What are you doing with her?
Weren’t you meant to be at the office?” Eveline pushed aside her astonished expression and properly settled herself in the chair.
Gabriel furrowed his brow, finding her reaction boring, and swiftly drew up a chair to sit next to her.
“I was expecting a beaming smile as soon as you saw me, but it appears my girl does not miss me enough to be happy to see me here,” he added, and she rolled her eyes at him.
“You are the one who continues to miss me, which is why you are still here after talking with me so many times,” she added, forcing him to purse his lips awkwardly.
“So what if we talked a lot?
I still need to make up with my girlfriend for not taking her to college in the morning,” he continued, rejecting her prior statement.
Joining the company was an unexpected call, but joining the next day was even more surprising.
And now that Gabriel had made up his mind, he saw no reason to deny Richard’s proposal.
“Moreover, I was missing her terribly so I finished the work and ran to her” he said, and she sighed pathetically.
Today was his first day of work, and instead of focusing on his meetings, he was preoccupied keeping an eye on her.
“Anyway, there is still time for college hours to be completed.
So would you just spare me a moment and allow me to finish this topic before leaving?” she said, and he nodded in agreement.
Eveline set her phone aside and resumed her studies.
She didn’t let herself get distracted when Gabriel took up a book and began reading it.
After they finished, they both went to the parking lot and got into his car.
“You didn’t tell me.
What were you doing on your phone when I startled you out?” he inquired again, prompting Eveline to speak up.
“I’m inquisitive about my dad’s relatives.
I mean, I know them, but not fully.
It’s only bits of their participation in his life, but I don’t know anything else about them,” she remarked, giving her a puzzled expression.
“Why are you suddenly interested in learning about them?
I mean, you’ve never been intrigued before, so why now?” Gabriel enquired, and she bit her bottom lip.
“Do not do that!” “You’ll hurt yourself.” Gabriel quickly reached out and traced his fingertip across her lower lips before shooting her a furious stare.
Eveline was perplexed, but then calmed down and turned away.
“I know it’s unexpected, but the thing that piqued my interest is unusual,” she murmured, and he cocked his head in fascination.
“Be explicit, Eve.
What are you talking about that piqued your interest?
Eveline groaned and informed him about the individual who had caught her curiosity.
“Jedrick?
“Who is this man?” he said, oblivious of the individual about whom he had learned for the first time from her.
“I’m not sure.” But his intentions towards Dad have been quite suspect, and my instincts tell me there is something about them that I don’t understand,” she replied confidently.
If Gabriel was unaware of Eveline’s accurate prediction he wouldn’t have listened up.
But now that she said everything that was bothering her he couldn’t stop himself from getting intrigued.
“I think Dad might have an idea.” He spoke, and she nodded.
“I guess so because he is the one collaborating with Larson’s Group,” she explained.
Gabriel was not surprised that Eveline had already retrieved information about the situation, but if that was not enough, he could ask his father.
“Okay, I will ask dad if he can help us out, but for now, tell me where I should take you other than home.
I need some alone time with you.” Gabriel quickly changed the subject, leaving Eveline to ponder.
“You want to take me where?” Now that he would put out the real offer, she questioned.
Alone time with Gabriel indicates that he was either smooching her or doing something else.
So, she was confused about what he meant.
A gleam of amusement appeared in his eyes, and his lips stretched into a full-fledged smile.
“That is a surprise,” he said, starting the car and driving away from the college gate.
**** It had been a few days since Tiffany was apprehended by the cops, and Jacob was doing his best to calm his nerves.
He feared that one day the cops would arrive at his door and arrest him for assisting his daughter.
It was his idea to request a dummy simcard, which Tiffany would discard after carrying out her plan.
However, neither plan was successful, nor was she able to escape with her life intact.
And this constant fear hovered over him like a dark cloud, ready to strike him with a thunder bolt.
As he continued to think, the main door opened, and Susan stepped inside.
Jacob was startled out of his reverie when he saw her, and in return she gave him a strange expression.
Susan noticed Jacob sitting ideally doing nothing, not even drinking, which amused her, and she could not help but ask, “What happened?
Have you gotten tired of that expensive alcohol, or are you saving it?” Jacob’s expression changed, and he cast her a glare.
“I merely asked,” she chuckled and walked on, placing her bag on the couch and continuing, “as it is strange to see you sober.” Susan taunted Jacob with a smile, which irritated him even more, but before he could say anything, she beat him.
“By the way, I got a call from the police station, and we are asked to come tomorrow for some interrogation.” Jacob’s face turned pale, and his throat dried up when he heard her words.
Susan’s brow furrowed when she noticed the change in his appearance.
“What happened?
Why do you look so pale now?” She inquired.
Jacob sensed that his fears were gradually coming to light, and he could not stop himself from inquiring.
“Why would they want us there if we had already given our statements?” Susan sensed something was wrong with Jacob’s sudden defensive behavior and could not help but ask, “Is there anything bothering you?
I mean, it is just an interrogation, what is the harm in going there, unless…there is something you are hiding?” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS akshaya_vanne Thank you Dera_Odinde for the Golden ticket NEW BOOK ALERT Marriage with my daughter’s father: Darling please be gentle
