Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 194
Chapter 194: I know you lied Chapter 194: I know you lied “Don’t you think eating dessert before dinner is a weird process?” Gracey remarked, taking a bite of her ice cream.
“It is, but I thought we needed to chill a little after this tiring day” replies Daniel.
They continued to eat from their bucket until it was empty, but Daniel was not ready to leave.
“What, you still don’t want to go?” When she asked, he nodded.
“So, what should we do? I told you there was still a lot for me to study.
Even you need to prepare, right?” She spoke, and he sighed in return.
“Gracey, why are you so worried about your exam performance?” He added, “I am confident you will do your best,” and she furrowed her brow.
“That will only happen if I am consistent.
Topping the chart is not an improbable feat; you forecast it and it happens.
You must work hard.
Furthermore, don’t you wish to reclaim your performance, or do you still plan on following the same notion of your father cutting your allowance?” Daniel gaped at Gracey, who giggled at his adorable reaction.
“How did you know that?” He asked, his face flushed with embarrassment.
” Eveline told me.
She said, your father cut your allowance as a punishment because of your low grades in the last semester,” Gracey said it normally which made him frown.
“And you believe that’s fine.
Because you seem so comfortable talking about it,” he asked, ignoring the embarrassment he had just felt.
“No not at all, but if you still continue to keep yourself ignoring his actions then maybe you will lose that motivation in life.” She said, confusing him.
“I’m not suggesting your father’s actions were correct, but what you’re doing now is also incorrect.
Every parent wants their children to have a great profession, and that requires studying and achieving goals.
If you continue to disregard your academics, how can you be more passionate and ambitious in all you do?” Daniel’s lips parted as his mind processed her good remarks.
She happened to say the same words as Gabriel, but in a different way.
He was not being disrespectful to his father’s comments; he simply wanted to balance his time by not burdening himself.
He was confident, but he didn’t want to appear overconfident.
“Just because I act like a child does not mean that I don’t comprehend everything.
I do, but I also don’t want to miss out on life because I’m afraid of being left behind.” This time, Gracey was perplexed by his statements.
For the second time, she noticed how thoughtful Daniel sounded.
He might be a year younger than her, but his thoughts were always sophisticated.
She might think of him as a careless person who doesn’t care about other people’s opinions, but she was mistaken since he cared more than he let on.
His approach was just different from hers, which drew her closer to him.
Gracey continued to admire him, his face discreet, but gradually a smile appeared on his lips.

“It’s raining,” he murmured, interrupting her train of thought, and she adjusted her gaze in the direction he stared.
Gracey gaped as she realized it was genuinely raining outside, and that it had happened unexpectedly without notice from the weather forecast.
“That was unexpected, but I guess it’s an indication that we should just wait until the rain stops,” Daniel said, turning his gaze to Gracey and seeing the same bewildered expression he had a few seconds before.
Gracey sighed and agreed, “I suppose so.Maybe we should just wait,” she suggested, and they returned to the ice cream shop for a while.
**** Meanwhile, Susan had requested a half-day and drove Jacob to the police station.
As soon as they arrived, she turned to look at Jacob, who appeared to be disturbed, but he quickly calmed himself and stepped out of the car as they both made their way inside the building.
Inside…
“I apologize for the inconvenience, but there is something I wanted to ask about your daughter,” the officer added, gazing at Susan and Jacob.
He could tell that the woman was alright, but the man seemed to be in trouble.
“What is it, officer?
Is Tiffany okay, or is she still not cooperating?” Susan asked out of concern.
She had been monitoring her daughter’s actions inside the cell after she refused to cooperate and continued to throw a fit.
She didn’t settle down until the day before yesterday, but she still refused to eat.
She learned of Eveline’s visit from Eveline herself, which helped her understand why she had been silent.
“This is not about Tiffany.
She has been cooperative until now, but this is about Mr.
Ambrose.” Jacob’s face paled as he spoke those words, and he clasped his palm hard beneath the table.
Susan furrows her brow and turns to gaze at her husband with mistrust.
“As per your statement, you happened to be at home when Tiffany carried her plan to kidnap Gracey, but why is your location on the same place after some time as per the tracking reports.” The officer’s question caused Jacob to sweat.
“T-there must be a misunderstanding, I never left home,” he stuttered, attempting to seem assured.
Regardless, he still appeared afraid to them.
“I don’t believe Mr.
Ambrose since we have information about your location from the day Gracey was taken to the day she was discovered.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time your phone has been traced in the same spot, but on the day Gracey was discovered, your location remained the same.
How is that possible?” Jacob felt as if someone had sucked his soul and sent a shudder down his spine.
Susan, now convinced that Jacob was trying to hide something, couldn’t help but ask, “Answer Jacob?” His body startled at her soothing voice, and he turned at the officer, who stared at him with a hard expression.
Jacobs grasped the gravity of the situation.
Despite discarding the dummy SIM card, they were able to trace details from his phone.
‘Stupid Tiffany, how can you be so careless,’ he inwardly scolded his daughter, while his mind raced to come up with an explanation.
“Oh…
now I remember,” Jacob replied abruptly, his voice shaking as he forced a smile at the unexpected phoney.
“Tiffany had my phone at that time.
She stated she needed to call someone since her phone had run out of charge, and that is exactly what occurred,” he added, peering at the two eager eyes skeptically.
Susan did not respond, but the police did.
“Then you should’ve mentioned it before” was the response.
“I am sorry, officer, I was too messed by Tiffany’s detention, maybe that’s why it slipped from my mind,” said Jacob.
The office nodded before taking a quick glance.
“I apologize for being harsh to you, but we are still looking for the person who helped your daughter because she refuses to speak.
It is our responsibility to consider all options,” he said, and both Susan and Jacob nodded.
“That’s just fine.
I am confident that with your abilities, you will be able to locate the individual,” Jacob said.
After finishing their meeting, they quickly departed the police station.
Susan came to a halt outdoors and abruptly inquired, “I remember you leaving the house in a hurry after Tiffany returned with mud all over her shoes.
Where have you gone?” Jacob paused, his eyes wide with horror.
“I had some work,” he claimed.
“As far as I know, my husband has been unemployed for years, so what work does he do late at night?” She queried, her tone slightly severe as she gawked at him.
Jacob was irritated by Susan’s incessant pestering and snapped.
“Why do you care where I go or what job I have?
Did you ever cease going to that bastard’s house?
Then why ask me.” Jacob had had enough of her pestering, and he needed a break.
He never expected Susan to pay attention and question him so much, and now her incessant intervention was causing him to lose his temper.
Susan continued to stare at him, her eyes seeking to penetrate his soul, but she didn’t say anything.
Jacob regarded her silence as an opportunity to flee and immediately turned away and left.
“I know you lied, Jacob, but don’t worry, the truth will come out one day, but first I need to know who is providing you with money and all the lavish drinks,” she sneered, knowing her husband was rational enough to acquire a job after years of unemployment and deadbeat.
Someone was attempting to aid him, but who?
She needed to know.
**** [Miller’s Mansion] “So you mean to say, they cut all ties with their relatives long ago?” Eveline stated on the phone with Gabriel, and in response, he hummed.
“Yes,” Eveline slipped into a deep stillness as she stood in her father’s room, looking across the photo frames.
The members in each photo grin, indicating that they are a happy little family.
“I see,” she whispered, continuing to look at the frame while wondering when a startling notion occurred to her, causing her eyes to shine with excitement.
“Gabriel, I’ll call you later,” she said as she disconnected the phone and dashed out of her father’s room, hurriedly headed to the basement where the storerooms were.
“I am sure I will get something significant out of here,” she muttered as she moved forward to open the door.
Screech….
