The pair continued to converse with Eveline, hoping Gabriel would appear inside her chamber as he did every night.

When Eveline jolted at the sound and turned to face the door, she heard Susan calling her name.

“Young Miss, Master, got into an accident.” Susan’s words shook the ground beneath her feet, and she dashed to the hospital where Jonathan had been taken.

Eveline finally breathed and demanded to meet with her father.

Susan was standing there, hearing the doctor confirm Jonathan’s safety, when her eyes caught a glimpse of something that prompted her to look in that direction.

“Who was standing over there?” She muttered, feeling a strange sensation creep up to her heart.

It was as if the glimpse she caught was something familiar but failed to recognize.
