Eveline stood under the shower and let the cold water stream down her body.

She was bathing, but her thoughts were absorbed by Gabriel’s revelation.

She quickly took a shower and headed out in a bathrobe, but her feet came to a standstill when she noticed Gabriel was already inside.

“Uncle Jonathan is awake,” he added, and she swiftly recovered from her daze to nod in response.

Eveline hesitated as she approached her wardrobe, unsure if she was prepared to change before Gabriel.

She could feel his eyes on her, but he said, “I’ll wait for you outside,” and he stood up and departed.

Gabriel was trying to resist his impulse to devour her, knowing it wasn’t the ideal situation, but he couldn’t stop himself from kissing her, knowing it was enough to quell his desire.

“Let’s go,” he muttered, taking a deep breath and turning to open the door for her before moving to the driver’s seat and driving away.

Jonathan went in to respond to the doctor.

He felt alright, but discomfort in his leg and body began to set in as the sedatives’ effects began to wear off.

“Everything appears to be fine.

But we still need to keep you under observation for a medical procedure,” he explained, and Jonathan nodded.

Susan came forward when the doctor left and handed him some food, which she had previously discussed with the nurses.

“Master, I’ve brought oatmeal for you.

The doctor said you can only do it for a while before heading for a full meal.

Jonathan scrunches his nose at the notion of eating plain oatmeal, but Eveline insisted on having it without making expressions.

She helped him with the food and then handed over the tiffin bag to Susan, who quickly left.

“Where’s Gabriel?

Susan said you were supposed to come with him,” Jonathan inquired, noting his absence.

“He is occupied with some work.

Will soon join us,” she stated.

Jonathan nodded, ready to relax again, when Eveline asked a question that took away all of his exhaustion.

“How did the accident happen?” she inquired, her gaze focused on the subtle change in his expression.

Jonathan was attempting to avoid the question by pretending to fall asleep, but his daughter beat him to it and asked it before he could react.

When Jonathan remained silent, she stated, “The police investigated the entire accident and discovered that someone purposefully hit your car, which ended up hitting the divider and crashing into the tree after a few rolls.

“Dad this isn’t just an accident but someone tried to kill you and I want to know who?” She asked, grasping his hand firmly.

Eveline thought her father was trying to hide something since, despite discovering the cause of his accident, he remained calm, indicating that he was aware he was being targeted.

Jonathan drew a deep breath after seeing Eveline’s worried expression.

He wanted to handle the problem on his own, but things didn’t go as planned, and Eveline found out about the intentional accident first.

“I know the accident was planned, but I still don’t know who it was,” he replied, casting a glance at Eveline.

Eveline may appear dumb, but she knew her father was trying to lie to her again, and his resistance irritated her.

She was fine with everything except when it came to his life.

Soon, a knock on the door was heard, and Gabriel entered with the officer in charge of the case.

I hope you’re doing well,” he added, and Jonathan smiled before asking him to have a seat.

“I am here to question you about the accident.

As you are aware, you and your driver narrowly avoided death in an accident.

I recorded your driver’s statement.
