Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 200
Chapter 200: I will go on his behalf Chapter 200: I will go on his behalf The next morning, Eveline arrived at the hospital to find her father surrounded by work.
“Uncle Mark, how can you let my dad work in this condition?” Mark, Jonathan’s assistant, pursed his lips and stared anxiously at Jonathan.
“It’s not his fault, Princess.
I was the one who was bored here, so I asked him to bring some work.” Jonathan stated in a casual tone, but his carelessness infuriated Eveline.
“And who told you to do that?” She yelled, racing towards his bed.
With her hands crossed, she asked, “Are you still recovering, Dad?
If your doctor says you need to rest, why would you ever consider working?” Jonathan stared down at the paperwork strewn across his leg.
Eveline was aware that her father prioritized his work over his health.
But this wasn’t just a usual cold or fever; he had been in an accident that injured his leg, and instead of resting and mending, he called his assistant and brought work.
“Um, let me sign these few documents, then I’ll let Mark handle the rest,” he continued, as she rolled her eyes at his insistence.
“Boss, about the Larson’s Group Event…” As soon as Mark said it, Jonathan gave him a glare.
“Cancel it,” he said.
“But, boss, your presence is required.
Manu business delegates would respect the occasion, and if you didn’t attend, it would damage your standing in the business community,” Mark clarified.
Larson’s Group may be a competitive corporation, but they are still businessmen, and neglecting such an important event involving industrialists from all over the world would be a bad decision.
“You want me to attend the event with a broken leg?” Jonathan inquired, his tone flat and solemn.
“I didn’t mean to say that,” Mark fumbled to avoid his boss’s enraged glare and lowered his gaze.
Eveline, who was discreetly witnessing the conversation, inquired, “The event is tomorrow, right?” Jonathan’s brow furrowed as he observed Eveline’s inquiry.
“Yes, ma’am,” Mark replied.
“Okay, I will go on his behalf.
I’m sure there’s no problem,” she added casually, but that didn’t sit well with Jonathan, who declined immediately.
“No, you won’t,” he replied.
Eveline ignored her father’s advice and tipped Mark off positively.
“I am going and trust me, I am not alone since Gabriel and brother Stefan would also be there” she stated.
Jonathan, who intended to disagree stopped himself when she said Gabriel and Stefan’s names.
Yes, they planned to attend the event as representatives of their respective companies.
Eveline watched her father analyze her words before turning to Mark and nodding.
“Make sure you don’t leave her side even for second and keep me updated.” Eveline’s lips curled into a winning smile.
“So it’s settled.
Now, uncle Mark, please take these files away and make sure my father doesn’t get in touch with you for a few days” Mark grinned and nodded in response to the seemingly insignificant warning.

Jonathan, who sat silently, watched Mark gather the files and leave the room without speaking.
He may have agreed with Eveline, but only he knew how terrified he was inside, knowing that she was finally going to meet him.
**** The car continued to go at its normal speed, but the air within became even more oppressive than it was before.
“Did she read our chats?” Ella abruptly inquired.
Ella has been panicking out ever since Stefan told her that his parents are aware of their relationship.
But when he mentioned they don’t know who the individual is, her anxiety subsided little.
Ella died in shame after Nancy merely read her nickname and some messages.
They weren’t your typical chats, but flirty ones that might make anyone feel embarrassed reading them.
Stefan, on the other hand, was calm and reined in compared to Ella.
He glanced at her and shook his head.
“Not entirely but the one you texted that moment.” A wave of relief flooded over her face, but it was quickly ripped away when he contemplated.
“Wait a second, maybe she did because she seemed so shy that her ears had gone red.” Ella’s entire face grew pink at the image of Stefan’s mother looking over them, and she buried her face in her palms.
“Oh my goodness, how will I face her?” she wept, recalling how she frequently met Stefan’s mother when she visited their house or attended business gatherings.
Stefan laughed at her dismay, finding her reaction endearing.
Ella heard him and gave him a scathing stare.
“You think it’s funny?” She asked, her lips twitching at the thought of being caught red-handed.
“I was kidding,” he replied, continuing to enjoy the sight of her awkward expression.
Ella wanted to strike him in the face for even trying to deceive her.
Her palms itched, but she refrained from acting on her thoughts because he was driving.
“Don’t talk to me,” she yelled, and the smile on his face faded.
“Hey, I was only calming the mood.
“Why punish me?” he asked.
“Because you dare to mock me,” she countered, and he pursed his lips in defeat.
“That is not fair.
How will I survive without talking to you?” he lamented.
“You should have thought before teasing me,” she replied.
Stefan felt terrible about teasing her, but he refused to listen to her warning.
As they approached the company, Ella hopped out of the car as soon as it stopped and dashed inside without waiting for Stefan.
She wanted to get to the office as soon as possible, so she rushed to press the private elevator button and quickly entered immediately after it opened.
Ella’s lips twisted into a triumphant smile as she assumed Stefan would not make it, but she was mistaken, as the man with his long stride managed to equal her pace and go inside.
Ding.
Ella was pushed against the wall as soon as the door closed, with Stefan looking dangerously at her.
His lips twisted into a wicked smirk, twisting her stomach in the wrong way and fluttering her eyes at the intensity.
“What are you doing?” she asked quietly, her chest heaving up and down in panic.
“Making up with you,” he said softly and slowly as his lips drew closer to kiss her.
Ella’s mind went blank, and she responded, forgetting that she had been upset with him a few minutes before.
Stefan always got his way, and she could never maintain her resolve for even a single day.
