The footsteps were steady as they approached the study table.  Inserting the keys into the locked drawer, the person removed the envelope and closed it before quietly leaving the room.

Sprinting through the corridor, the individual opened another door and entered the room before closing it from the inside.

Eveline let out a shaky breath as she realized she was committing a malicious act.

She never imagined she would stalk or investigate her father, but after what they learned from Jacob, she could not sit still.

She quickly made her way to her bed, sat down, and opened the invitation card.

Eveline’s eyes widened as the handwriting was erased and threatening words appeared on it.

Everything was beyond her imagination, and the worst part was that she had no idea about any of it.  She wondered how many things Jonathan was trying to hide from her, if this was the first time he was attacked, or if it had happened before.  Eveline grabbed her hair and tried to think straight when a memory appeared out of nowhere, leaving her gaping.

She remembered when her mother died; she was not allowed to see her, nor was her father present.

It was as if she was deliberately kept apart until she was cremated.  Eveline could not see her mother’s face, but she noticed a bruise on her father’s face while he stood by her tombstone.

Even though they were light, she noticed them.  The memory was hazy, but it all suggested that something was wrong at the time, and she was too young to ask.  Eveline sighed as she ran her fingers through her hair.

She had to find everything or else something terrible would happen to them that she could not have imagined in her wildest dream.  The thought of what happened to her father after she left lingered in her mind, as did the question of why this person named Jedrick held a grudge against him and threatened him in that manner.

“I will find the answers soon, but for now, I need to prepare myself to face him tomorrow.

I want to see the man who dared to threaten my father.

Eveline knew it was difficult for her to deal with these complicated thoughts, so she quickly called Gabriel and asked him to come over.

It took him only twenty minutes to get to the Miller Mansion and into her room.

Eveline dashed towards him and embraced him tightly.

Gabriel said nothing and continued to caress her back until she pulled away.

“Want to take a shower with me?”  Gabriel’s eyes widened at her bold remark, and he nodded like a desperate puppy in response to Eveline’s request.

Eveline guided Gabriel inside the bathroom, holding his hand.

She did not feel obligated to him because she had made the request, but he was the only one who could help calm her nerves right now.

Gabriel looked for any hesitancy in her actions, but to his surprise, he found none implying she was true to her word.

Eveline quickly undressed and removed the last piece of cloth from her body before standing under the shower.

“You wanted to have a bath with me, right?

Now, do not just stand there and watch me.

Come here,” she said, looking at him, and he quickly removed his cloth before approaching her.

Gabriel’s eyes were fixed on Eveline’s subtle action, which was a miss, but he did not object and let her do what she wanted.

Eveline reached to turn on the faucet and let the water fall on them.

Her eyes fluttered as she watched the water flow down Gabriel’s chiseled chest, and she moved closer to touch him.
