Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 212
Chapter 212: I will always be grateful to you Chapter 212: I will always be grateful to you Susan sighed as she folded the newspaper closed.
The news of Henry Howard’s son Alex Howard’s death shocked everyone to the core.
They wondered whether it was a ruse devised by the madman to divert their attention, but it was confirmed that the youngster was no longer alive when his final rituals were broadcast on the new channels, putting their worries to rest.
“May his soul rest in peace,” she mumbled, followed by a small prayer and continuing to drink her coffee.
They had apprehended Jacob a few days before, and he had been on his best behavior since then.
But wondering how long he’d be like this was a question.
As she sipped her coffee, a knock on the door drew her attention, and she hurriedly went to open it.
“Ah!” She was suddenly pushed behind, and three big men barged into their home.
Panic surged through her heart, and she cried, “Who are you?
What do you want?” The men went deaf and continued to rampage through the house till they reached Tiffany’s room and broke in with a quick kick on the door.
Susan had no idea what was happening.
She had paid off all of Jacob’s debtors; who were these?
As she stared at those men in utter terror, the one who went inside emerged, taking Jacob along.
“Let me go!
I will give you your money,” he screamed, leaving Susan stunned.
Jacob was thrown to the floor, and the man quickly pulled out a revolver and pointed directly between his brows.
Jacob begged, his lips shaking as he continued to plead for mercy.
Susan stood motionless, her gaze fixed on the sight in front of her.
“Please give me some time.
I will repay the money.
Please do not kill me.
I beg you,” Jacob continued to plead, hoping that his tears would convince them to take mercy on him.
“How many days?” The man with the rifle pointed at Jacob asked.
Jacob snorted, wiped away his tears, and answered, “Fifteen days.
I will clear all the money.” Susan’s heart fell to her stomach after hearing his remarks.
This bastard husband of hers had once again gotten himself swiped up by gambling, and the consequences of his addiction were now in front of her eyes.
“Fifteen days is too much,” the man said, startling Jacob.
“Please, I need to arrange the money before I can pay you.
Please, I need time for that,” he said.
The man paused for a bit before exchanging glances with his companions.

There was an invisible communication going on between them through their eyes, which Jacob and Susan recognized.
“You!” Suddenly, the man with the rifle looked at Susan.
Susan remained motionless, her eyes anxiously studying the man’s action.
“Give us some money and we will spare your husband’s life,” he stated, leaving Susan and Jacob perplexed.
“Do as he says,” Jacob yelled, gritting his teeth as he motioned for Susan to be quick on her feet.
Susan stayed on the ground, darting her attention from her husband to the man.
“I do not have any money.” You can check, if you want.” Jacob was surprised by her unpleasant conduct.
She stood steadfast, not allowing the debt collectors to shake her resolve.
However, this bravery lifted Jacob’s feet off the ground.
“What are you saying, Susan?” Give them the money or they’ll kill me.” Jacob didn’t anticipate Susan to refuse to pay them off in order to save him, especially because she had always been the one to pay off his obligations.
“I don’t care because you took the money from them.
I’m not going to stop you from killing him.
But I will not pay his damn debt,” she declared, leaving everyone silent.
Susan spent her life clearing her husband’s shit, working hard, and paying off his debt, but despite all of her efforts, his heart never wavered.
He was so immersed in the pool of addiction that he scarcely acknowledged her efforts.
But that was sufficient.
She used to play his wife, but she no longer does.
He will pick up the trash that he has created.
“If you want, you can turn the house upside down but there won’t be anything that is worth it in exchange for his life.” She added, leaving no space for negotiation.
Jacob knelt, defeated.
He saw his life coming to an end.
The woman he loved had turned her back on him, but was she to blame?
‘No’ Susan was never to blame when he gave her many grounds to leave him.
“What should we do now?” The man said again as he moved the rifle in Jacob’s direction.
He flinched and closed his eyes, sending a shiver down his spine.
There was no way these men would let him leave.
Maybe this was how his life was supposed to end, with a bullet through his brain and everything going blank.
Jacob pursed his lips tight, preparing to confront his endgame, but it did not come.
“Here, take the money.” His eyes widened and he turned to look at his wife’s voice as she extended her hand to give the man some money.
“For now, I only have this much, but next time, he will pay, not me,” she said gravely, and the man took the money.
Jacob breathed a sigh of relief as he drew the pistol away, and the three of them left the house.
Susan looked at Jacob, who refused to stand and continued to kneel on the floor.
Ignoring him, she was ready to turn when he asked “Why did you save me?” Susan paused and turned to look at him.
Susan noted Jacob’s look of remorse and answered, “You don’t know?” Jacob bit his lips, attempting to fight back tears, and nodded.
He had done so much wrong with Susan, but she persisted in saving him, performing his wife’s role.
But more than that, she proves her love for him despite his ignorance.
Jacob remembers standing up to his parents in order to marry Susan, and she swore to commit her life to him on that day.
She did keep her words, but he lost his affections for her due to his greed and addiction to money.
“Thank you.
I will always be grateful to you,” he mumbled as a tear streamed down his cheeks, but he did not dare to look up.
