Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 229
Chapter 229: Let me take you there Chapter 229: Let me take you there “Why are you sitting there with your hair still damp?” Eveline’s body stiffened when she heard Gabriel enter the room.
Her eyes grew wide as she turned to face him.
Fortunately, Gabriel moved to close the door, and she quickly placed the phone on the bed and hid the note under the mattress before returning to her position.
“Do you want to get sick?” he questioned, making his way to the bed.
He remembered that when he left, Eveline was still in the shower, and now that he has returned after a lengthy absence, she is still sitting there without drying her hair.
Eveline was too caught up in his unexpected appearance, but why wouldn’t he come?
He needed to come; after all, it was his room too.
‘Stupid Eveline,’ she chided herself inwardly while forcing a grin.
“I waited for you.
Would you like to help me dry my hair?” she asked, leading Gabriel to smile.
“Of course.
You can make me do anything for you, Eve.
Come on, go over to the dressing table, and sit there.” Eveline did as he asked and sat on the stool facing the mirror.
Gabriel grabbed the dryer and inserted the plug into the socket to turn it on.
Eveline’s thoughts raced as she watched Gabriel gently dry her hair, section by section.
She didn’t want to hide anything from him, given how frequently he had told her about his concerns.
But this would be the last time she would hide anything from him.
Eveline couldn’t take the risk because she had been asked to come alone, but the question was how.
Gabriel had already stationed guards around them after she told them about the man she said was following them, and she was convinced Gabriel was already on his way to find the person.
She felt like striking her head on a stone, but she had to be honest because Gabriel was the one to correct her conduct.
“Did you find anything suspicious around us?” Eveline asked.
Gabriel shook his head as he gazed at her in the mirror.
“There’s nothing suspicious, which is strange.
Maybe the person knew you saw him following us and he was cautioned.” ‘Damn you, Gabriel Winston.
Why aren’t you already a detective?
“His brain is faster than a bullet shot from a gun.” “So I assume we don’t need so strong security.
I’m sure by now the person has realized there will be no way for him to reach us.
Maybe back out,” she murmured, nervously watching Gabriel through the mirror.
“He might be, but we can’t let our guards down,” Gabriel declared as truth.
Eveline attempted a grin as she regarded him skeptically.

It would be a difficult scenario for her to persuade Gabriel, but she needed to find a means to lower the rates of those around them so she could make an easier getaway.
“Okay, here you go.
Your hair is completely dry now.
Should we prepare to leave?” He said, prompting her to glance at him skeptically.
“We are going somewhere?” She asked.
‘This is sudden.’ “Yes, we are.
There is a museum here, so I thought I’d take you there,” he added, and Eveline’s eyes sparkled as a wonderful idea came to her head.
“The museum.
Of course, we can go there,” she said, standing up quickly like an exuberant child about to leave.
“Hold on, first let me notify the guards.
They’ll follow us,” he muttered, and the smile on her face disappeared.
“What happened?
Why did your mood change when I mentioned the guards?” Gabriel queried.
“You want your twenty guards to accompany us into the museum.
“Eveline asked, “Don’t you think we’ll get more attention if we spend our time there watching art?” “They’ll arrive disguised, just like they came to market.” Â Eveline’s patience was wearing thin as Gabriel provided solutions to her concerns.
She wanted to be monitored by fewer individuals so that when the time came, she could sneak out.
“I don’t think that’s necessary.
Let them stay here, and we may leave alone.
Why bother them when we don’t have to worry about anyone following us anymore?” Eveline noticed Gabriel staring at her strangely.
However, she did not allow him the opportunity to reject, and she dragged him out of the room, straight to their car.
Gabriel was doubtful, but he didn’t have time to react before they both got into their cars and drove away, followed by another automobile that had been parked in the distance for some time.
**** [Miller Mansion] “Where do you think he vanished?” Jonathan inquired as to who had the most recent information about Jedrick’s absence.
They’d been attempting to set up a meeting with him for a few days, but he was out of reach.
Their whereabouts were kept private, and even his aide refused to reveal anything unless directed to do so.
Every day, Jonathan was reported as disappointed.
With less time on his hands, all he could do was use force to discover the man, but despite employing skilled workers, he was unable to locate his brother.
“How about Jacob?” Is he showing any symptoms of doubt?” Jonathan asked.
“No, sir.
Jacob has been clean since he started at the company and has done his work freely.
The mark has been updated.
Jonathan nodded, thinking about how to contact Jedrick, when a notification appeared on his laptop screen.
‘An Unknown ID’ Jonathan reads and instantly opens the email to read the message contained within.
‘How long will you try to hide things, Jonathan?
There is no use in negotiating because Eveline will soon discover the most devastating secret you have withheld from her.’ “Bastard!” Jonathan curses, surprising Mark.
His eyes are flaming as he tosses the laptop off his lap and exhales heavily.
Mark, who had never seen his boss so angry, fumbled but dared not speak.
Something contradicted his claims, and the look in his eyes conveyed his anxiety.
Jonathan got out of bed, stood on his feet, grabbed his phone from the side table, and made a fast call.
His chest heaved as his breathing labored, alarming Mark, who was worried about his boss’s health, but then he heard him say something that stopped him in his tracks.
“If you’ve got the balls, face me.
Jed, your threats will only worsen the situation.’ This was the first time Jonathan referred to Jedrick by his nickname in years, and it was not out of affection, but out of hatred, which even made Mark rethink his relationship with Jedrick Denovan.
He hadn’t worked with Jonathan in years, and like the rest of the world, he was unaware of his former history, save for the one he sought to keep hidden from the public eye.
‘Could it be…?
Mark looked at Jonathan, who was now angry while chatting on the phone, praying that whatever he was thinking was not true.
**** Meanwhile, the car came to a stop outside the museum’s door, and Eveline and Gabriel exited, ultimately making their way inside.
Eveline knew that despite her best efforts to prevent Gabriel from taking the guards, he eventually brought a few of them with them in case they discovered anything disturbing.
Eveline scoffed at his overprotectiveness, but was she to blame?
‘God, why is everything so tough for her?’ She cried inside, but she didn’t allow a single muscle on her face contract, making Gabriel mistrust her.
Eveline made sure to keep her gaze everywhere.
On her way, she received a message from that person inquiring why she had the guards, to which she warned him about meeting her or not.
She realized it wasn’t only her who was intrigued; the person appeared to be anxious to meet her, so he agreed to meet her at the museum quietly.
Now all she had to do was leave under their noses without being noticed and return as if she had never left.
“What are you thinking?” Gabriel’s voice interrupted her thoughts, and she glanced at him in a daze.
He strengthened his grip on her hand, and she looked down.
“Are you cuffing me?
What’s with this abrupt hand holding?” She queried, attempting to get her hand out of his grip, but he held it back.
“I do not want you to get lost,” he replied, leaving her stunned.
‘Who am I?
A five-year-old child who would flee?
Oh, by the way, I want to run away, but only for a few minutes.’ She corrected herself.
Eveline couldn’t argue as Gabriel escorted her around the gallery to examine the paintings, while their guards followed them.
Eveline’s fear increased with each passing second as she struggled to free herself from Gabriel’s grip.
Just a small tug and his hold on her hand tightened even more, as if he was trying to break her palm in order to keep her in his eyesight.
“Gabriel, I think I need to use the restroom,” Eveline yelped, causing the people around her to glance at her strangely.
Gabriel, who hadn’t expected her to raise her voice, looked around.
“Fine, let me take you there” “…” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS akshaya_vanne keep voting and reading NEW BOOK ALERT Marriage with my daughter’s father: Darling please be gentle
