Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 232
Chapter 232: A mystery box Chapter 232: A mystery box Eveline needed some time to process what he had said before everything fell apart.
Gabriel, on the other hand, was astonished to hear him as well.
“You’re lying,” he murmured, staring at Kaden.
“You suppose I will lie about my sister’s death.
She was everything to me, the only one who loved me deeply, until that man came along and snatched her away.” Kaden’s dislike for Jonathan was obvious, but why was he so hostile to him?
“I think we need to leave,” Eveline said abruptly as she stood up, unsteady on her feet.
“When will we meet again?” Kaden inquired as he attempted to speak with her.
“I don’t know,” she answered, swiftly walking away, followed by Gabriel, who left after giving a final glimpse at the man who had given them the biggest shock of their lives.
Eveline didn’t say anything during the drive to the resort, but she appeared restless, fidgeting with her hand as she tried to calm herself.
Gabriel noticed she had practically dug her nails into the flesh of her plam and grabbed her hand, pulling her to sit on his lap.
“Stop it, you’re hurting yourself,” he said, trying not to chastise her, but the instant she looked at him, his heart plummeted.
Her eyes were filled with indescribable emotions, and the way she fought back tears stabbed his heart.
As much as he wanted to console her, he knew it would be difficult for him to completely divert her thoughts.
Gabriel, unable to see her attempting to hide her pain, drew her into his arm and kissed her head.
“I want to go home,” she said, her bravery crumbling and tears streaming down her cheeks.
Eveline had expected Kaden to tell her that her mother had died in an accident, but she had actually been killed, which came as a surprise, and her father was the only one who knew, blew her last bit of sanity.
Erna’s death was unexpected, but Eveline was informed that her mother had died from a chronic disease.
All these years, she believed what she was told, only to discover that it was a lie.
But why, what was the reason for hiding such a significant truth from her?
Why had she been kept in the dark for so long, and why was everything suddenly coming to light just as that man entered the picture?
Since Jedrick entered their lives, everything around them has become a mystery box that requires extreme hard work to solve.
Eveline had never bothered to find out what had happened to her mother, but now that Kaden had entered the picture and blamed Jonathan, she understood why he had been so secretive about his family history.
‘Why would dad misinterpret his wife’s death as a medical condition?
Why would he remove every possible trail that could lead to the last?
Why on earth did he lie to her that she died from a medical mishap?’ She had so many questions to ask her father, but as usual, he refused to answer.
He had kept his guard up when it came to this.
But now that she knew her mother had been killed, she could not sit still.
He needed to respond to her, whether he wanted to or not.
Eveline remained silent after arriving at the resort until Gabriel informed the rest that they would be heading home first.
He told them it was urgent and asked them to proceed with their plans, but they refused.

Stefan, too, decided to leave, and Daniel could not argue.
So in the end, they would all return together.
During the flight, Eveline and Gabriel remained in their private room, Stefan chose to sleep, leaving Ella perplexed about his cold behavior, whereas Gracey was having difficulty looking at Daniel after recalling the blunder she made after getting drunk.
**** Stefan pulled to a stop the car in front of Ella’s apartment complex, but she did not immediately get out.
Instead, she unlatched the seatbelt and turned to face him.
“You have not spoken with me since yesterday, Stefan.
Is everything okay between us?” she inquired, finding his behavior somewhat unsettling.
She remembered getting drunk after a few shots, which she later discovered were spiked.
But then she could not remember anything.
She wanted to ask Stefan if she was not something he liked, which was why he was so distant, but his lack of attention gave her no chance to confirm her suspicions.
Stefan, on the other hand, cast a glance at her.
His eyes seemed to be resting on her, questioning.
“What?” she inquired.
Stefan rolled his eyes at Ella’s stupidity and unclasped his seatbelt to give her a full stare.
His expressions were serious, and his eyes were fixed on her as he asked, “I am not sure when I will be capable enough for your trust, Ella.” Ella remained silent as her thoughts swirled around her fears, which she was attempting to confront on her own. ‘What exactly was he trying to say?
Did he find about-‘ “W-What did I do this time?” she inquired, skeptically.
Stefan looked at her and sighed.
“Max, he has been sending you voicemails, including that too drunk one, and you have not told me anything about them.
You think it is normal for you to be harassed like that?” he asked, finally letting out the bottled-up anger.
Ella was so drunk that night at the camp that she passed out the moment he took her to her tent; however, as he helped her sleep, he noticed a notification on her phone.
Stefan just wanted to turn it off, but when he saw it was a voicemail from none other than Max, he could not stop himself from invading her privacy.
He thought it was just one message, but when he looked into it further, he discovered there was another two days prior, a drunk call with longing messages about how much he missed her and wanted to see her.
“That scumbag!” How dare he even send you those messages?” Stefan cursed, leaving Ella stunned.
She had been afraid Stefan would find out about Jack while she was drunk, but it was Max who upset him.
“And then you got jealous and stopped talking to me?
Seriously?” Ella was speechless at how Stefan could transform from a mature man to a freaking teenager jealous over trivial matters.
Yes, Max was nothing more than a petty thing in her life that she does not seem to waste time on.
He was like a forgotten chapter in her life that she moved on from.
But if this man kept getting upset over him, she had no choice but to teach him a lesson.
Stefan peered at her, finding her words very relatable.
Yes, he was jealous, and her refusal to discuss it bothered him.
But now that he hears her, he realized how stupid he was to waste his time becoming enraged with Max.
But he could not ignore the words he spilled in his inebriated state and felt compelled to punch him.
“God Stefan, you are really impossible sometimes,” Ella screeched before deciding to get out of the car. Closing the door, she leaned over the window and said, “I love you Stefan, no doubt about it.” Stefan’s face bloomed like a flower as he watched her blow him a kiss before entering the building.
**** Daniel was on his way to drop Gracey off at home when he abruptly pulled the brakes and parked by the side of the road.
Gracey looked at him in awe, but then he removed his seatbelt and grabbed her neck, bringing her closer to his face.
Daniel had been trying to understand Gracey’s shyness, but the more he tried, the more desperate he became. His thoughts were completely captured by their kiss inside the tent, but constantly reminding her of it would only scare Gracey, which he did not want to do.
But now, even after so much time has passed, and Gracey has been sneaking glances at him while biting her lips while he is driving, snap the last string of his control.
“Do not look at me like that, Gracey.
It is doing something to me, and believe me, I do not want to scare you with what I will do next.” Daniel was also unfamiliar with his feelings, but he was not left in the dark anymore.
He understood how Gracey felt, and when he confronted her the next morning, she accepted it without denying anything she had said that night.
Gracey, on the other hand, blinked, her cheeks flushing as her gaze settled on his lips. ‘Damn, why am I being shameless…again?’ she muttered inwardly.
“See, you are doing it again?” She looked at him, confused by his words.
“What?” she inquired, and he slowly traced his thumb across her lips.
“Biting you lips and trust me it makes me want to kiss you so badly” he expressed breathlessly.
“Then do it.
Whats holding you” came Graceys words that snap the last string of his rationality and the next thing he did was to kiss her.
