Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 235
Chapter 235: She will decide whether to believe me or him Chapter 235: She will decide whether to believe me or him “How is that possible?” Eveline asked in disbelief, pulling away to gaze at him.
“Everything is possible because Jedrick is your father brother.
He isn’t an ordinary individual, but rather someone with ties to the underworld, or possibly one of them,” Gabriel explained.
During the event, Stefan learned a few secrets about Jedrick, one of which being his involvement with the mafia.
The information had yet to be confirmed, but Stefan was not mistaken.
Someone who had his tracks covered suddenly appears to own a company by investing in it, thus there must be a reason.
Unfortunately, the person they became interested in turned out to be linked to Jonathan.
According to the notion, Jedrick took over the business, which was an underworld organization, after Jonathan decided to step down.
However, Aunt Erna’s involvement remained unknown.
Eveline was left speechless.
If Jedrick was into the mafia, it was possible that their family was involved.
“Do you think Dad did this to protect us, his family because he wanted to start a fresh away from violence and threats” asked Eveline.
“I believe that nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
These are all the options I came up with, independent of any concrete proof.” Eveline groaned, fatigued by the thoughts that were racing through her mind.
“Don’t be so stressed.
We’ll get through everything.
Just believe in the process,” Gabriel replied, placing his arm around her and tugging her towards him.
“Why is Dad being so difficult?
What is preventing him from telling the truth?” Eveline queried as she juggled her emotions, finding it much more difficult to decide what she should trust and what not.
If Jonathan was correct, he shouldn’t be so hesitant to speak up about the matter.
But his refusal to reveal anything was a major setback in Eveline’s opinion.
“As you mentioned, he always has a motive for his actions.
So I believe we should continue doing our work and wait till he is ready to speak about it.” Gabriel did not want them to lose hope in anyone.
However, he couldn’t bear to watch Eveline so stressed and frightened.
However, if this was the reason she was resurrected, perhaps things will gradually start to reveal themselves and they will find the answer to everything they are seeking for.
Wasn’t he correct?
Then they had to figure out who was responsible for his death and his private life.
**** The pair slept a bit late that night, but a text message from Stefan woke Gabriel up.
‘I identified the hospital where Aunt Erna was reported to be treated, but additional research revealed that she never came there.’ Gabriel’s gaze became chilly as his reservations about the overall setup of her medical condition were revealed.
‘However, I found another hospital that has Aunt Erna’s medical history.’ Gabriel gripped the phone fiercely and replied to him.

‘Send me the name and place,’ he typed.
After pressing the send button, Gabriel turned to see Eveline, who was deep sleeping.
Gabriel didn’t want to leave, but he also understood that prolonging would prevent them from achieving their aims.
With her head lying on his one arm, Gabriel cautiously tried to take it out, but his awkward movement woke her.
Eveline gazed at Gabriel, who promptly jumped out of bed.
“Are you leaving?” She asked as she pushed herself up to sit.
Her eyes caught his cautious posture and she inquired, “What happened?
“Why are you quiet?” Gabriel planned to go to the hospital to confirm what Stefan had discovered, but now that Eveline was awake, he decided to tell her as well.
“Get ready, we have to go somewhere,” he remarked without saying much, but she did query and felt compelled to respond to his comments.
Gabriel hoped down the window, and Eveline followed him into the bathroom.
She was ready to leave about fifteen minutes later, but before she could take a step forward, she realized she needed to see her father.
Eveline took a few seconds to clear her head before leaving her room to see her father.
However, a servant arrived and informed her that Jonathan had summoned her to his room once she was up.
Eveline nodded, and the man left.
She knew Jonathan must have found out about her return through Susan, but she was also the one who had to prohibit him from visiting her due to Gabriel’s request.
Her heart began to race as soon as she arrived in front of his chamber.
She had no idea how she was going to confront Jonathan, but she refused to allow him become suspicious of her.
Eveline took a few long breaths before knocking on the door and walking inside.
“Princess,” Jonathan replied, setting the newspaper aside and extending his arm for Eveline to hug him.
Eveline wasted no time and hugged him with a good morning.
“Why didn’t you meet me when you got home, and why are you here in the first place?
Weren’t you meant to arrive after two days?” Jonathan continued to act normally despite his thorough observation of Eveline’s mood.
Her abrupt return had already brought in many questions in his mind, and he had planned to approach her on the last night, but when Susan told him she was asleep and asked not to wake her, he refrained.
Jonathan usually went to check on her, but last night the door to her room was shut from the inside, which was uncommon.
Anyway, now that she was back, he didn’t want to ask her why she had returned so abruptly.
Eveline smiled, her eyes moist, as she sat beside her father.
“I could not stay there.
You were always on my mind,” she continued, noting Jonathan’s smile.
“But you weren’t in touch with me, so why cancel your arrangements.
I’m well, and I haven’t overworked myself,” Jonathan tried to rationalize, unable to trust her comments.
“I know dad, but I was missing you and you do realize I haven’t left you for so long despite you leaving me and going for business trips” she considered saying with a grin.
Jonathan was doubtful, but he continued to play along.
His daughter was extremely awful at lying.
“I know this isn’t the case; did anyone tell you anything?” he inquired, and her smile faded.
“What do you think they might tell me?
Did you do something I should know about?” She asked, her gaze narrowed at him.
Jonathan stammered, surprised by her serious question, and chuckled nervously.
“Oh, why would I do anything that would get me into trouble.
I just wanted to know whether someone was surreptitiously giving you misinformation about me.
Eveline’s expression hardens.
Even though his words were fun, they made her feel anxious.
“You worry too much dad?
Unless and until there isn’t anything you wish to hide, there is nothing I can do to find it.” Eveline’s remarks stole the smile from his face.
His eyes were cautiously focused on her.
“Anyway, Dad, I will not be joining you for breakfast.
Gabriel and I have plans,” she remarked, rising up.
Jonathan wanted to continue conversing with her, but she appeared in a rush.
Eveline left the room after hugging him again.
His gaze remained fixed on the door while his mind analysed her previous acts.
Watching her act normally gave him the idea that everything was OK, but it might also be a veneer she put up to conceal her true intentions from him.
Eveline had previously stunned him when she revealed Jedrick’s name and how he staged the accident using Jacob.
With everything in front of him, how could he possibly believe Eveline hadn’t discovered anything?
“Is this how it is going to be?
Will he win this time?” Jonathan couldn’t help but feel a strange emotion creep into his heart.
He’s been able to keep this reality hidden from Eveline for all these years, but he won’t be able to do so forever.
‘Maybe I should let her do anything she wants.
Once she understands everything, she will decide whether to believe me or him.’ Jonathan finally made up his mind, ignorant of what the future held for them and how things would unfold once everything was out in the open.
**** Eveline stepped downstairs and was about to go when Susan asked her to stop.
Turning, she saw her move towards her, saying, “I needed to talk with you about last night-” Eveline didn’t let her finish her sentence and hugged her.
“Aunt Susan please don’t misjudge anything, nothing what you think happened inside and about Gabriel, we just slept and nothing else” “…” Eveline was still not over the fact that Susan had caught them despite Gabriel’s assurance that she wouldn’t tell it to anyone.
She felt the need to come clean and save her face from sheer embaressment.
But when even after she kept ranting nonsense Susan extremely silence bothered her and she pulled back looking at her fearfully “Are you even listening to me Aunt Susan?
Why don’t you say something?” She asked.
Susan face was flushed hearing Eveline’s embarrassing words as she didn’t anticipate her to share her the inside of their relationship.
“Young miss, that’s not what I wanted to say” as soon as those words left her mouth Eveline eyes gape in shock as if someone had emptied bucket full of ice water of her.
