As he carried out more research, the data he discovered contradicted him.

He wondered how many things were kept from them and why that was the case.

As he continued to look at the phone in front of him, his mind raced, hoping for a positive outcome from this meeting.

“Breakfast is ready,” Ella’s cheerful voice snapped him out of his trance, and he noticed her standing by the door.

When she noticed the tense expression, she walked inside, her smile faded into worry.

“Stefan, is everything all right?

You have been quiet ever since you arrived.

Is something bothering you?” she asked taking the seat next to him on the couch.

Stefan had no reason to hide anything from Ella because he trusted her enough with everything in his life.

So when she questioned him about his concerns, he did not hold back.

Stefan turned slightly, clasped their hands together, and looked into her eyes anxiously.

“It is about Eveline,” he said, making Ella frown.

“What happened with Eveline?

Is everything all right with her?

Why did not you inform me earlier?

She was fine until yesterday.” Ella bombarded Stefan with questions, unable to focus on anything.

Her worries had taken over her thoughts.

Stefan could not help but smile as he saw how genuine Ella appeared to him; however, his reaction caused her to furrow.

“Why are you smiling, Stefan?

This is not funny,” she said as he cupped her face.

“I like it when you worry about the people close to me,” Ella said quietly as he let go of her face.

Stefan paused for a moment before continuing to reveal the events that led to the end of their trip.

He explained everything, including why he appeared so anxious.

“Had they called you?” she inquired.

“No, not yet, but I believe they must have finished meeting with the doctor by now, and I hope everything is fine,” Stefan murmured as his thoughts drifted to Eveline.

**** [Outside the Hospital] “Thank you for your help, Mr.

Winston.

We will look into the case and keep you updated.” Doctor Bernard was on a suspect list for fraud, but there was insufficient evidence against him to turn him down to the cops.

That was when Gabriel and Stefan came up with an idea.

They already had enough evidence against the person, so they informed the police before going there, and later the doctor admitted to taking bribes and using used equipment.  Once their questions were answered, the police arrived on time and took the doctor away.

“Your welcome,” Gabriel said, turning to head towards his car when he noticed Eveline walking aimlessly down the road.

“Eve!” he yelled as he started running behind her.

The entire revelation hit her like a lightning bolt, shattering all of her emotions.

Her tears continued to fall from her eyes as she continued to walk.  Eveline was not the strong person she presented to everyone, and the mask on her face finally fell off when she discovered that her father was indeed responsible for uncovering the truth about her mother’s death.

Bernard claimed that the woman was brought after being shot in the chest.

They tried everything to save her, but she died from her injuries.

It was a police case, but the man claiming to be the husband denied the doctor’s request to be paid and sealed his mouth.

Not only was the lady injured, but so was the man who immediately brought back memories of her past.

Eveline was so worked up and tired from everything that her knees buckled and she fell.

“Eve!” Gabriel grabbed her before she could fall to the ground and lifted her into his arms.

Eveline limped like a jellyfish in his arm as he carried her to the car.

“Open the door” Gabriel glanced at the driver, who rushed to open the door before Gabriel placed Eveline inside and walked to the other side to hope in.

They both needed a moment, and Gabriel wanted to be there for her, whether she asked or not.

Eveline continued to cry silently, her heart breaking bit by bit as Bernard’s words replayed in her mind.

As the anxiety set in, she clutched her hand and nearly dug her nails inside.

“Don’t,” Gabriel warned, picking her up, placing her on his lap and hugging her.

Eveline sobbed deeply, burying her face in his chest.

Her cries echoed through the silent car, crushing Gabriel’s heart as she clutched his shirt, dampening them with her uncontrollable tears.

Gabriel had no idea how long she cried until she fell asleep.

He continued to caress her back with his eyes fixed on her angelic face.

After crying her heart out, the tears on her skin had dried and her breathing had returned to normal.

They finally confirmed that Erna was killed, and Kaden’s hatred for Jonathan was justified, but this was not the whole story.

Jonathan’s motivation for concealing such a tragic accident, as well as why he never attempted to find the murderer of his wife.

Gabriel pondered for a while before his eyes widened in realization and he looked down at Eveline.

“Until he knows who did it,” he mumbled.

*** Back inside the hospital, a woman sneaked into the women’s restroom and made a quick call.

The ringing continued several times before being answered.

“Did everything go according to plan?” the person inquired.

“Yes,” the lady replied in a deep and subtle voice.

“Good job, your reward will be sent to you soon,” the man on the phone said, and her phone buzzed as a sum of money was deposited in her account.

“Thank you, boss,” she said before hanging up the phone and walking out.

Meanwhile, Rick ended the call and turned to look at Jedrick, who appeared to be smiling before his most trusted man could say anything.

“Mission accomplished, boss,” he said, and Jedrick’s smile spread.

“I am wondering how long you will try to keep up, Jonathan.
