Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 246
Chapter 246: Did he do anything to you?
Chapter 246: Did he do anything to you?
[Hayes International’s: Marcus Office] “I assumed my son was joking when he stated he’d be working throughout your Bali trip.
But you both have some interesting ideas for the resort’s building.” Marcus looked at the list Ella handed to him, which impressed the guy with her work ethic.
Marcus trusted Stefan with Ella because he felt she was capable of convincing that indolent son of his work to realize his aspirations and be disciplined enough to pursue them.
Ella pursed her lips and nodded.
Only she understood how difficult it was for her to assemble these ideas in one day and deliver them to her boss today.
If he knew what his son was up to throughout the trip, he’d beat the heck out of him.
Marcus, impressed with their work, approved the ideas they proposed and instructed her to work on them while telling the architectural department.
Ella was on her way out when she was interrupted by an unexpected visitor.
“Nancy, what are you doing here?” Marcus spoke as he watched his wife walk into his cabin.
“Ella, it’s so good to see you” Nancy’s face brightened as she saw the gorgeous girl before her, ignoring her husband’s comments as if he hadn’t heard them.
Ella was astonished to find Nancy at the office, and she was soon reminded of Eveline’s warning.
“Good morning, Ma’am.
It’s great to see you, too.” Ella returned my greeting with a smile that did not appear real.
“By the way, have you seen my son?” I come to meet him,” Nancy queried, surprising Ella with her unexpected comments.
“Darling, how does she know where Stefan is and why she came to meet my son?
Did you forget you have a husband who also works here?
Marcus complained after being overtly neglected by his wife not once, but twice.
Ella’s lips twitched as she watched her boss act like a cranky lover who just wanted his wife’s attention.
He didn’t disguise his jealousy for his son.
“What’s so great about seeing you?
We spent the entire day together before you chose to leave for work, but my son seemed to be spending more time outside than inside the house.
I wonder if he remembers our faces too.” Nancy spat.
“Ahem, I’ll take my leave, sir, ma’am” Ella wanted to walk away from the situation, but maybe luck was not on her side.
“No, wait, where are you going?
It’s been a while since we’ve met.
I look forward to spending time with you.” Marcus:”…” Ella:”…” “So, what are you waiting for?
Let’s sit on the couch and talk,” Nancy offered before turning to face her husband.
“And please ask someone to get us two coffees,” she remarked, taking a seat on the couch.

Ella’s jaw fell as she watched the lady boss treat the company’s owner like a clerk, but hadn’t she always done this?
Ella had seen more than this, but she was relieved that she was the only one who knew how slave their boss was to his wife.
Ella stepped awkwardly toward the couch, feeling terrible for her boss, and sat down next to Nancy.
Marcus fumed, but he did ask someone to bring them two coffees and prepared to depart for a meeting.
“If you remember me, I am just a phone call away,” Marcus replied grumpily before leaving his cabin.
Nancy grinned, darting her glance back to Ella.
She’d always admired the girl in front of her.
She was a hardworking, caring, and ambitious woman who paved the way for her own achievement.
She was amused to see such a young lady working as Marcus’ assistant, but her husband always chose skills, and Ella was someone he felt capable enough to entrust with his firm.
“How was your trip?
Did you enjoy?” Nancy’s question made Ella shrink into her seat.
Ella had never felt so worried before, and she wondered if Nancy could sense her unease.
“Yes, it was fun, and I got to meet everyone,” she replied pleasantly.
“Hmm, it’s nice to see you getting to know everyone as a friends other than seeing them as your superior’s children.
By the way, Eveline kept talking about you.
She mentioned you and her had become excellent friends,” Nancy explained.
“Eveline is a nice girl.
She’s like a sister now,” Ella remarked.
Soon, a knock was heard and their coffees arrived.
“Please keep it here,” Ella remarked, and the clerk placed the coffee cups on the table and left.
Nancy picked up her cup and drank from it.
“If you consider Eveline as you sister then does that mean you take Stefan as your brother” Ella coughed on her coffee, which astonished Nancy.
“Oh, I meant to say in a political way.
Since Stefan considers Eveline to be his sister, and you two are indirectly siblings,” Nancy smiled humorously, leaving Ella pallid by her jone.
“Anyway, I know Stefan wouldn’t accept you as his sister.” Ella looked at Nancy as she sipped her coffee.
“You are his superior because you help him with his work,” she said, giving Ella a sense of relief.
She would be happy with being Stefan’s superior.
But, sister, that is not possible.
“Do you know where Stefan spends most of his time?
That boy has a girlfriend, but we are still unknown to her,” she queried, forcing Ella’s grasp on the cup to tighten.
“He does?” she said, and Nancy agreed.
“Yes, and I am curious to know who that unlucky girl is?” Nancy remarked this depressingly.
Ella was astonished by her remark and couldn’t help but wonder why she thought the girl was unlucky.
It was wonderful to have someone like Stefan as a partner.
He was caring, understanding, and, most importantly, highly respectful of her.
“Why would the girl be unlucky?” she inquired, prompting Nancy to hesitate for a while.
“Because she would have to deal with his tantrums.
You know he is such a spoiled brat.” Nancy said keenly observing the expression on Ella’s face.
“Don’t you agree with me, Ella?
You’ve seen him.
Is he a responsible guy who would love her wholeheartedly, or would she have to live with his juvenile act?” Nancy’s assertions caught Ella off guard, and she found herself in a tough situation.
“Sorry to object you but I think you are wrong” Nancy cocked her brow finding her words amusing and inquired.
“Can you elaborate how so?” Ella contemplated but soon spoke,” I think whoever Stefan will marry, she would be the most luckiest girl.
He is someone who truly cares the people close to his heart and I am sure the girl he will love would the apple of his eye” Ella’s expression bloomed as she recalled her moment with Stefan.
She found herself blessed.
She realised no one has ever loved the way Stefan does.
Yes he is stubborn at times even immature but that’s exceptional to his personality towards his people who know him.
Nancy kept staring at Ella, as a smile made its way to lips and she said, “Then I guess my son is the luckiest to have such an understanding girl, who loves him for who he is ” Ella blinked as she withdrew from her thoughts and looked at Nancy who had this proud smile on her face while she stared at her.
As they two shared a silent communication suddenly the door to Marcus cabin opened and Stefan barged in.
“Miss Ella, Mom what is going in on here?” He said leaving the two women surprised by his visit.
*** Back in Gabriel office the air turned dense the moment Eveline said those words.
“How come?
I mean how can you be so sure?” He asked looking right into her eyes trying to see some hesitation but he couldn’t.
“She left me a letter and there is something very suspicious about it” she said pulling out the envelope the old man gave her.
“This doesn’t looks like a years old letter” Gabriel mumbled as he first examine the paper inside but then something caught his eyes and he snap look at Eveline.
“Even the ink, it’s seem to be freshly written” he added.
“You are right, that’s why I doubt the letter was written long back, but then the man who gave it me didn’t appear skeptical” she mumbled recalling how he kept smiling her as if he was waiting for her.
Gabriel furrowed at the mentioned of the man she just said and inquired,” Whom do you met and what man are you talking about?” Eveline gave him a subtle look and said,” The keeper who said to know mom.
He told me she gave him the letter and asked him to give it to me” Gabriel’s expression darkened and his hold on the letter tightened until she saw his veins.
“I am going to fire them all.
How can they let anyone get close to you and why wasn’t informed!” Gabriel slammed his hand on the table startling Eveline with his outburst.
Leaving everythng aside, he quickly rushed to her side and kneel before her checking her thoroughly.
“Did he do anything to you?” Was the words he asked out in worry leaving Eveline speechless.
