Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 247
Chapter 247: She is trying to warn me Chapter 247: She is trying to warn me Note: ‘Do read the privilege chapters and help me clear the first tier’ **** “No, he did not because he was an elderly man.
And please don’t stress out because I’m standing here perfectly fine,” she informed him, putting his fears to rest.
Gabriel stepped up, holding her hand, and pulled up a chair to sit in front of her.
“What else has he said?
I mean, how come he recognises you and your mother?” he asked.
“I’m not sure,” she said, her brow wrinkled.
It was shocking to see someone seeking for her merely to deliver her this letter written by her mother, but what surprised them even more was that the letter itself did not appear to be old enough to have been written a long time ago.
Eveline was busy sorting her thoughts when she turned to look at the envelope and hastily reached out to grab it.
Gabriel’s face wrinkled as he watched her closely examine the brown paper before tearing it apart.
“I knew it!” she said, a triumphant smile spreading across her lips as she gazed at Gabriel.
“Do you see this symbol?
It’s the symbol of the stationary store near the graveyard,” she added, offering the envelope to Gabriel, who also examined it attentively.
He then remembered the shop, and his eyes widened in surprise.
“Gabriel, I need to go see the man who gave me this letter,” Eveline exclaimed, standing up.
Gabriel nodded, and they soon left the company and went to Memorial Park, Eveline going inside to find the man.
To her dismay, she couldn’t find him and didn’t notice his office open.
“What does all of this mean?
Shouldn’t he work here?” She asked frantically, glancing at Gabriel.
“Something isn’t right, Gabriel.
That man, this letter,” she gazed down at her hand, her grip tightening.
“Why would he give it to me now and not when I came to visit mom during her anniversaries?” she inquired.
Gabriel sensed helplessness in her aura and instinctively rushed out to hug her.
“She is trying to warn me, but how when she is no longer alive?” Eveline had the impression that everything that concurred was not a coincidence but rather a deliberate endeavor to warn her.
Perhaps someone knew what she was seeking for and was secretly helping her.
But why would that person use her deceased mother as a means of communicating with her unless he knew who she was?
As the two stood there, a pair of eyes cast a cautious glance at the two figures before they chose to retreat.
**** After an hour of waiting, Eveline and Gabriel strolled out of the Memorial Park and drove away.
Eveline had remained silent as Gabriel continued to look at her, his heart contracting in pain.
He wondered if it was important for them to check into this matter, which was causing her nothing but agony.
But he also knew Eveline would not give up, no matter how hurt she was or how fatigued she was from the quest.

Unable to see her distress, Gabriel drew her in for a hug as she crawled onto his lap.
Eveline buried her face in the crook of his neck and closed her eyes.
Gabriel’s warmth was exactly what she needed to counteract the coldness that was seeping into her heart.
She had been cautioned about the truth she was looking for, but she would stop now that she was coming closer to discovering it.
“Hold me tight, Gabriel,” she whispered, and his grip on her tightened as he pushed her completely into his body, as if wanting to join them.
Eveline continued to hug him, not letting go for a second, until they returned to his office.
Eveline needed a break, so Gabriel decided to take her to his office, where she could relax in one of his private rooms.
“You rest; I’ll be back sometime,” Gabriel remarked as he helped Eveline lie down on the bed.
But before he could turn to leave, she grabbed his hand, preventing him from leaving.
“Stay,” she replied, scooting a little to make room for him alongside her.
Gabriel gazed at her and came in to lie beside her.
Eveline stepped closer to him, wrapping her arm around his torso, placing her head on his heart and closing her eyes.
Gabriel continued to caress her hair till he heard her regular breathing.
Once he was certain she was fast sleeping, he took out his phone and called someone.
“I want you to look for something,” he stated on the line, telling the person on the other end.
Eveline slept for quite some time before deciding to wake up.
To her astonishment, Gabriel was by her side, working on something on his laptop.
“Are you still here?” she said, raising herself up to sit facing him.
She expected him to depart, but he kept his word and waited until she awoke.
“You’ve asked me to stay.
“How could I leave you?” he murmured, laying his work aside and reaching to cup her face, kissing her on the lips.
Eveline had no idea how long she had slept, but Gabriel neglecting his schedule and staying by her side warmed her heart.
“I think I should leave.
You must keep on with your work,” she replied, attempting to get out of bed, but Gabriel stopped her.
“Not till you’ve eaten something.
Food will be arriving any minute, so eat first, and then we’ll go home together,” he continued, leaving no space for disagreement.
Eveline nodded and swiftly got down to freshen up as she entered the restroom.
By the time she returned, the meal had already been laid on the table, and Gabriel was waiting for her like a thoughtful spouse.
“I feel bad for holding you back,” she said, taking a seat on the couch and glancing at Gabriel.
“You don’t have to; even if you hadn’t asked, I was going to stay with you.
You know I’m not going to leave you alone,” he added, bringing a smile to her face, and they both began savoring the food.
