Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 269
Chapter 269: I will not leave this place Chapter 269: I will not leave this place Eveline agreed to play along, as if she understood his intentions.
“Enough!
I wasn’t here to hear you criticize my father.
I know what kind of man he is; you don’t have to say anything to him.” Eveline slammed her hand and stood, leaving Gabriel perplexed.
“Come on Gabriel lets go.” She announced, seizing his hand and bringing him out of there.
Blake could only stare at them with incomprehensible emotion in his eyes till they vanished from his sight.
Meanwhile, Gabriel, who couldn’t comprehend Eveline’s abrupt shift in attitude, followed her out of the restaurant and into the car, only to confront her once they were inside alone.
“What was that?” He asked, staring at her with surprise.
Eveline gave him a harsh look before removing the note from her palm and giving it to him.
“This,” she said, causing him to frown at her actions.
“The old man had a camera installed as one of his coat’s buttons.
He was warning us about being recorded.
Blake gave Eveline a note under the table before leaving.
She read it.
“I am sorry, but I cannot tell you anything right now.
Because of what I perform, he will realize that I am attempting to assist you.” She repeated the lines inscribed inside.
Gabriel exclaimed and took the note from her hand, rereading it.
“Damn, how are we expected to talk to him, and why is he trying to be cautious?
Is he attempting to save you?” He inquired out of the blue, but it turned out to validate Blake’s concerns.
“Perhaps he is.
I could see the fear in his eyes.
Despite his desire to express his emotions to me, he remained silent due to fear.” Eveline closed her eyes and drew a long breath. This wasn’t as simple as she expected, but one thing was certain: the old man wasn’t as aggressive as he appeared before them.
He had so much to say but was afraid to reveal it.
‘Who is the man behind his fears?’ Eveline clinched her jaw in rage, her eyes darkening with an incomprehensible passion.
As they sat inside the car, Gabriel’s phone rang, startling them, and he answered it.
“What is it?” He inquired, and the next moment his gaze became icy.
“Stay there; we’ll be right there,” he said, ending the call.
“What happened?” Eveline asked, her face pinched in confusion.
“Franklin attempted to flee after being alerted by one of our men,” Gabriel remarked as he started the car and drove them to the Franklin shop.
As soon as they arrived, they discovered Franklin being detained by his men, and his face paled with fear.

“Who are you and why are you troubling me?” He questioned why he was being quizzed for no reason.
Eveline recognized the man was terrified and opted to talk to him instead.
“We are not here to harm you, Franklin, but to inform you that someone is using your information to contact me.
And we just want to know who that person is?
Franklin gulped when he heard her remarks.
“What do you want to know?” he inquired, suddenly shedding his guards.
Eveline shared a look with the guards, who promptly let off of him.
She then brought out her phone to show him the message.
“This text was sent by you,” she remarked as Franklin examined the printed words.
Yes, the number belonged to him, but he never texted her.

“This number is mine, but I swear I never send the text to you.” He was sweating.
Eveline knew Franklin wasn’t lying, but who else would dare to do so?
“Maybe he was the one who did it,” he stated abruptly, capturing everyone’s attention.
“Him?
“Who is he?” She asked anxiously.
Franklin was afraid to speak, but he decided to come clean.
“That day, when I couldn’t make it to the Golden Hotel for various reasons, I had someone else send on my behalf.” I gave him my phone to contact the people there.
Franklin revealed something that surprised both Eveline and Gabriel.

“Who was the man?
“Can you name him?” Eveline inquired hesitantly.
“I’m not sure because he came himself and extended a helping hand, and since he didn’t ask for a share, I agree with him,” Franklin said, lowering his gaze in embarrassment.
“It’s Gabriel.
It’s Uncle Kaden.
He was in the hotel, but how come we missed him, and why was he there in the first place?” She inquired restlessly.
“Calm down, Eve,” Gabriel whispered, caressing her shoulder before turning to face the man.
“Why did you lie to us then?” He asked in an intimidating tone.
“Because I got scared wondering if you discovered my lie and came here to hurt me,” he added, wiggling his finger in concern.
Gabriel gazed at the man in bewilderment before leaving the business.
“So he is actually here and has been keeping an eye on us.Then does it indicate he also about his father being invited here to sign a contract with your company?” “Of course, but he is still undercover,” Gabriel finally replied, agreeing with Eveline’s statement.
Eveline was unable to talk, but she continued to think about the message Blake had conveyed to them through the note.
“If Mr.
Willow is truly being controlled, then I doubt we will be able to extract anything from him,” declared her.
“Now there’s just one person who can help us: Kaden.
But first, we need to wait for a signal from him,” Gabriel replied, casting a meaningful gaze at Eveline.
Eveline leaned on the seat and closed her eyes.
“I wonder if this vacation will end with me going completely insane,” she muttered, feeling sorry for herself.
Eveline had never utilized her brain so much to achieve in tests, but now she was gradually evolving into a detective while investigating the riddle of her own life.
“Have you contacted your father?” “Did he fly?” Gabriel asked.
“Yes, he did,” Eveline replied.
She had been particularly aware of her father’s movements after Kaden warned her.
But where was he, and why hadn’t he contacted her?
**** Meanwhile, inside the hotel, Jonathan remained near Erna.
Though she recovered consciousness the following day when Eveline paid him a visit, she was forbidden from traveling, forcing him to postpone his departure.
However, he made sure to keep his whereabouts hidden by modifying his trace so Eveline wouldn’t discover him.
“Eve..” a feeble voice interrupted his thoughts, and he turned to look to the side.
Erna opened her eyes slowly and stared blankly at the wall above.
She’d been fantasizing about her daughter for a while, but her fate was so harsh that she couldn’t even see her.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she let them fall for once.
“Love, do you need something?” Jonathan inquired, frightened by her consciousness.
Erna gave her husband a glazed glance and nodded.
“I want to see my daughter,” she murmured, and with each word, Jonathan felt his heart tighten.
He felt helpless once more when he heard her begging tone.
“Jonathan, I know we can’t, but just once, I want to see and touch her.
She is so close but so far away from me.
I’d like to tell her that her mother did not die.
She is living and breathing.
“I want to tell her how much I have missed her.” Erna pushed herself up to sit and gripped Jonathan’s arm.
“Why aren’t you fulfilling my one request, Jonathan?
I promise to be careful,” she begged, crying into his shoulder.
Jonathan had never felt more defeated, but he was helpless.
If Erna had not taken the risk of coming here to meet her daughter, he would have found a method to keep her location hidden.
But now he couldn’t because he wouldn’t give them the tiniest hint that Erna was alive.
He couldn’t let one false move jeopardize his strategy to keep his wife and daughter safe.
“Love, listen to me.
Did you not hear what the doctor said?
You’ve only recently begun to recover from a long period of sleep.
Your body is too weak to withstand vigorous activity, which is why you passed out for so long.
Please, dear, listen to me and do not overstress yourself.
I pledge to let you meet Eveline when the moment is appropriate.
But first, we must escape this country,” Jonathan explained.
Erna had undergone the most horrific repercussions of the catastrophe.
She had been in a coma for nearly ten years, but thanks to extraordinary care and well-known medical experts, she was able to survive.
She only awoke around four years ago, but she needed extensive rehabilitation to regain the ability to move independently.
“No!
I will not leave this place.
I will be close to her no matter what.” Erna stated, pulling Jonathan away.
