She had no idea they were at the same spot and were unaware of it, but it didn’t take long for her to figure out why.

If she hadn’t heard the two staff ladies discuss an emergency, she wouldn’t have discovered that her father was staying in the same city and hotel as her.

Her mind was entirely absorbed as she continued to pace inside the room, but when the door to her room opened, she saw Jonathan approaching her.

“We need to check out,” he declared, perplexing Erna with the unexpected statement.

Her lips parted, ready to ask him a question, but he declined and moved away.

Erna felt she shouldn’t be troubled by the news considering what had happened between them back then, but she couldn’t deny that Blake was her father, and his blood ran through her veins.

She dismissed her thoughts and followed him out, saying, “Jonathan, I learned that Dad-” “I know everything, Erna, which is why we need to leave this place as soon as possible,” he said, not allowing her to finish and instead focusing on his desire to leave the hotel as soon as possible.

However, Erna persisted in speaking out and halted before him.

“I already said there is nothing we can do about it.” Jonathan clinched his jaw, his eyes silently begging Erna not to behave impulsively.

“But you said he’s serious.

That does not make sense!

He is my father, Jonathan,” she sobbed, jerking his hand away from her shoulder.

Erna recognized her connection with her father had deteriorated when she refused to accept his commands.

Even though she never regretted following her love, she never forgot she was his daughter.

He may have maintained relations with her, but she could not, which is why when she learnt of his condition, she was unable to suppress her feelings.

Jonathan, on the other hand, lost his cool after she refused to listen to him.

He had tried everything he could to make Erna grasp the situation, but she was not willing to listen.

“I know he’s your father,” he said, firmly shaking her shoulder.

But, for once, consider that if you go to meet him, our secret will be revealed, and he will realize that we have been tricking him all these years.” Jonathan had been understanding, but Erna was overly emotional, as if she didn’t care about his concerns at all.

She had already made a major problem by fleeing the hospital and arriving here without support.

The chances of Jedrick discovering her were high enough that he had to house imprison her, and now this.

How could he allow her to meet her father when he was one of them?

His betrayal had broken him to the point that Jonathan felt nothing but contempt for him.

If he hadn’t joined hands with his brother, his parents wouldn’t have died in such a brutal way.

If he had only thought about their friendship once, his parents would still be alive.

Erna noticed a black cloud in Jonathan’s eyes and felt terror seep into her gut.

She knew what was on his mind, but for once, she wished he would put his animosity aside and tell her if her father was safe.

“We are leaving, and that is final,” Jonathan declared, leaving no room for dispute, and motioned Martha to get everything ready.

Erna stood there, helpless.

There was no way Jonathan would change his mind, and he certainly had the right to do so, but how could she persuade her heart?

In the end, she chose to follow him.

‘Perhaps that’s how it was supposed to be,’ she reasoned, retreating to her room.

“Everything is under control,” the man stated, and Blake swiftly pushed himself up to sit up.

Luke, disguised as a doctor, removed his mask and sat in the chair, stretching his leg on the edge of the bed.

He pulled out his phone and called his friend.

“I’ve finished my job; how about yours?

Did you find anything?’ Kaden sighed as he sensed no movement from Jonathan’s end.

However, he understood that if he wanted to bring Erna out of the shadows, he would have to take drastic measures.

That night, when he went out of his father’s room, Kaden saw an empty medicine strip in the trash.

It didn’t take him long to comprehend what it was, but Blake’s use of it raised a lot of worries in his mind.

His father had never been an insomniac, and taking medicines to fall asleep was out of the question.

However, the drug he was taking was not a regular one, but rather one that would slowly kill him.

If he hadn’t confirmed it the other day, he would not have known his father was being given it under the guise of an antidote.

However, this one piece of knowledge sparked an incredible notion in his mind, which he planned with his father without informing him of the complete situation.

He knew if the news about their father somehow reached Erna, she wouldn’t be at ease.  Their relationship might have soured over years, but he knew his sister still loved them deep inside.

Kaden was waiting for a single when another service member came in and remarked, “The guest in room 1002 is checking out.

You’ll be in charge of cleaning the room,” he said, alerting Kaden, who quickly stepped out of the staff area.
