It’s been a long time since she saw Kaden.

He was still a child, but he was a fully grown man and a respected figure in his industry.

It was startling to the one.Her brother was the one who protected them from being slaughtered, and she will always be grateful to him.

All these years, she despised herself for leaving him so abruptly, but circumstances pushed her to do so; otherwise, things could have turned out much worse than they already were.

“Do you still blame your sister for leaving you all alone?” She asked.

Erna and Kaden were only siblings, yet she treated him like a child.

Despite the fact that their parents were present, he felt more at ease in her company and wanted to discuss his difficulties with her.

Watching her listen to his everyday banter would make him happy.

He never understood how much his sister meant to him, but he began to distance himself after his parents arranged her marriage to Jedrick.

It was then that he discovered that his sister would no longer be by his side and would instead move in with Jedrick.

The feeling alone crushed his heart, but no matter how much Erna assured him that she would always be with him, he couldn’t get over it.

He would have been pleased to have someone who understood her as a mate, as Jedrick was never appreciated by Kaden.

There was always this terrible sense about him that made him fearful at even the slightest glance.

As a child, he had no idea how Jedrick was.

For him, he was the wicked guy who would take his sister away, leaving him alone.

But as he grew older, he gained a better understanding of people, and his disinterest in Jedrick grew even after his sister no longer wanted to marry him.

Kaden blinked, taking in her warmth and shaking his head.

“Never,” he murmured, jerking away.

His eyes were somewhat crimson as tears welled up in them.

“I never blamed you, and I apologize for taking so long to contact you.

If I had done it, maybe things wouldn’t have been so bad between us.” He apologized.

Kaden was so upset when his sister left them that he didn’t object to his father’s choice to send him overseas for further schooling, and during that separation, he ended up driving farther away from them, deciding never to return.

The brother-sister duo continued to converse, reminiscing about their prosperous and affectionate past.

Soon Eveline joined them.

She was aware of Kaden’s fondness for her mother, but seeing their relationship as siblings created an emptiness in her heart as she thought about her own kid.

‘If only she could get him back,’ she thought.

While the others continued to converse in the living area, Jonathan excused himself to the study room.

However, he neglected to notice Eveline and Kaden following him.

“Please take a seat,” Kaden replied as he swiftly took a chair for himself.

Eveline, on the other hand, remained seated on the couch and observed the two.

A terrible quiet fell inside the room as both Jonathan and Kaden considered speaking.

All these years, he blamed Jonathan for murdering his parents and stealing away his sister.

However, it was all a fiction told by his father while under the influence of Jedrick, who threatened his life.

“What brings you here Kaden?” Jonathan finally broke the stillness, looking at Kaden with deep, scrutinizing eyes.

Kaden wasn’t intimidated, but he did feel slightly inferior to him.

Maybe he felt guilty about cursing him all these years, or maybe he recognized the man was never wrong and was also the victim of his wicked brother’s scheming.

“First and foremost, I apologize for blaming you all these years; nonetheless, I will not justify any of it, because it will not make you forget what you have been through.

However, I guarantee you that from this day forward, I do not consider you as a wrong person, and I hope that in the future, you will do the same.

Jonathan was surprised by Kaden’s adult statements.

The boy who used to run behind him to play with him had matured into a fine man, as his wife had previously mentioned.

However, the career he picked for himself brought about a significant change in his behaviour.

Nonetheless, Jonathan couldn’t help but be happy of Kaden for pursuing his passion and making his sister proud.

“I hope so, but in the future maybe my opinion would change.” Jonathan agreed.

Kaden took a minute to process Jonathan’s statements from earlier.

“I came here for Jedrick,” he explained.

He fixed his gaze on Jonathan.

“I understand, but that’s not the true reason.

I am sure there is a lot more for you to see here.” Jonathan may believe Kaden, but given his vocation, it would be foolish to continue accepting his words when they were not the truth.

Kaden took a big breath, realizing Jonathan was not someone he could keep hidden.

So he chose to speak up rather than keep him in the dark.

“I am here to catch Jedrick, who is running the largest illegal underworld organization,” he stated, but Jonathan’s lack of response made him doubt his belief.

“And you think it is that easy?” Jonathan asked, leading Kaden to frown.

“I have a plan?” Kaden voiced.

Eveline, who was quietly watching the two, saw the tension rising between them.

She didn’t grasp their argument.

Why was Jonathan skeptical of Kaden’s claim that he was coming to catch Jedrick?

“You said he runs the largest underworld organization, but would it be possible for you to stop him when it operates all over the world?

I know you’ve been working your ass hard by halting minor illicit acts in order to gain access to the larger organization, but you’re aware of his present manpower.

The way he confidently doubted him despite not understanding his strategy caused Kaden to doubt himself.

A man like Jedrick, who built an empire on his own, wields far more influence than you realize.
