Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 291
Chapter 291: I was robbed Chapter 291: I was robbed “Sometimes it’s best to let people believe what they see.
Even if I sought to clear my name, my parents would still not return.
If they hadn’t consented to me, maybe they would still be alive and not slaughtered in such a cruel manner,” Jonathan said, his tone tinged with guilt as he remembered seeing his brother shoot them from the shadows.
“It happened so quickly that not only did his thinking freeze, but his entire body went numb.
Their lifeless body still haunts me to this day, and it is what has caused me to hate myself for not being a good son.” Eveline listened carefully and gradually understood what he meant.
However, loving someone was not a fault.
It was the wrong person who took out his rage on someone who actually treated him as their child.
Unfortunately, he was unable to digest it.
Eveline rose up, took a big breath, and approached her father.
Walking around, she threw her arm around his neck from behind and kissed his cheek.
“You are the best son, husband, and parent a girl could ask for.
I am so proud of you, dad, but please don’t blame yourself for anything that happened since Jedrick would have found another means to fulfill his ulterior intentions,” she guaranteed, making Jonathan emotional with her comments.
“I’m sure grandpa and grandma will be proud of you, too,” she said, watching him nod in response.
Jonathan’s heart was filled with emotion.
Every day, he missed his parents’ assurance that he could keep going as long as they supported him.
‘But don’t worry, dad, I’ll make sure the person who harmed you is punished,’ his eyes gleamed with determination, a newfound resolve coursing through his heart.
After spending some time with their daughter, the Willows decided to leave, but on their way out, Eveline stopped Blake.
“Grandpa Blake, there is something I want to ask you.” Blake halted, a confused expression on his face.
“Yes” “It’s about the deal.
Did you ask Roger to sign the agreement in your absence?” Eveline enquired.
Blake considered for a bit before nodding.”I did, but I was confident Gabriel would not sign it in my absence.
So I am delighted we have yet to complete the procedure.” Eveline gave a sigh of relief.
She was delighted to hear about it, but she was now concerned that this step of his would land him in problems.
“Grandpa, are you sure you want to work for Winston’s?” I mean, aren’t you concerned about Jedrick discovering your motives?” She queried, doubtfully.
Blake chuckled at her comments.
“He already knows it, which is why he tried to kill me by changing those medicines,” Eveline said, gaping at him.
“So it was him-” “Yes, but don’t worry, he won’t lift a finger in me now that I have Kanden with us,” responded Blake.
It was a comfort that Kaden elected to stay and complete his mission from home.
However, they had to be cautious of the people surrounding them.
They may not understand why someone might turn on them or who they may trust.

Eveline smiled, and after saying goodbye to her grandparents and uncle, she decided to return to the house when a phone call interrupted her.
Her eyes light up with excitement as she spots Gracey’s name flash on the screen.
However, when she answers the phone, her eyes widen in disbelief.
“Don’t worry, Gracey.
I’m on my way to you.” Eveline closed the phone and swiftly entered the car, traveling to Gracey’s place.
**** “Gracey, what happened!?” Eveline dashed into an alley on Brooklyn Street, where she discovered Gracey crying.
Her elbow was bleeding, and she had her hair yanked from the various sides of her head.
It appeared she was being beaten, but the question was why and who did it?
Eveline pulled her out of the alley and led her to her car.
Quickly inside, she took out the first aid kit from the glove box and began cleaning the blood.
When she was able to rough clean the wound, she saw it wasn’t too deep, but it still needed to be checked to keep it from becoming septic.
“How did this happen?” And what are you doing alone in that alleyway?
Don’t you know they have goons everywhere?” Eveline scolded, recalling her one horrible experience with this establishment in the past.
However, she soon pushed it aside and decided to take Gracey’s class.
She took a brief glimpse at her bicycle and pictured a scene in her thoughts.
Gracey was still frightened by the situation because she didn’t think it would turn against her.
However, she was relieved that nothing awful had happened to her and that she had called Eveline for help on time.
Gracey bit her bottom lip in anticipation and raised her eyes to meet Eveline’s brooding gaze.
“I was robbed and they took all my money.” Eveline’s brow furrowed at hearing her remarks, to which Gracey responded with additional explanation.
She came here to deliver an order, but she never imagined that choosing the easy road might get her in trouble.
She managed to fight them, but there were too many of them for her, and they eventually took all of her money.
Fortunately, she still had her phone with her and was able to call Eveline.
However, she has decided to file a complaint against the persons who robbed her.
“I think we should go to the police station and report the occurrence.
“Those people looked far too young to rob anyone, and I’m guessing they were drug addicts as well,” Gracey muttered, recalling their looks as a typical burglary.
Eveline agreed with her.
“But first, receive your check.
“I don’t want Daniel to freak out seeing you like this,” she laughed, attempting to lighten her tone.
Gracey nodded weakly as Eveline started the car and proceeded to the clinic.
**** [Police Station] “Move fast, don’t make me shout,” a booming voice echoed inside the office, and Gracey and Eveline shifted their focus to the kids who had robbed Gracey on her way to the delivery.
As their gaze followed the line of children, Gracey gasped in surprise when she saw a familiar face.
“Stacy, is that you?” Gracey sprang from her chair and dashed towards the girl, who happened to be one of the girls living in their area.
How could Gracey not recognize her since she was frequently spotted visiting their bakery with her mother?
One day, she introduced them.
However, standing among the goons made her feel uncomfortable and silly.
Stacy tried to cover her face behind her hood, but Gracey had already recognized her.
“Do you know here, Miss?” The officer inquired.
Eveline followed her and observed the girl.
“Do you know her?” Gracey nodded, but she was still surprised to see Stacy with the children.
They were barely eighteen, yet the way they looked was an obvious instance of- Gracey couldn’t finish, but the officer who apprehended them corroborated it.
“They were doing drugs with the money they stole from you.” Gracey looked at the man, shocked, and then back at Stacy.
Her lips parted in disbelief.
“I believe we should notify their parents,” another official said, scaring the crap out of them.
“No, please don’t tell our parents.
We won’t do it again,” one of them stated.
Gracey looked at Stacy and realized she didn’t seem to have a clear head.
All she did was hide her face without uttering her appeal.
“Miss, if you know her, then please help us get through her address.” Gracey looked at the officer and thought about it, but then a hand landed on her shoulder, softly squeezing it, and she turned over her shoulder to see it was Eveline’s.
“There is no need, officer.
We can deal with her ourselves.” Eveline stated with a convincing expression.
After completing the operation, Gracey and Eveline departed the police station with Stacy.
They discovered a bench nearby and let Stacy sit on it.
“I’ll bring water for her,” Eveline replied, running to the other side where there was a store close, while Gracey remained by Stacy’s side.
Though she appeared to be in better shape than before, she had yet to speak a word, which concerned Gracey.
“Here, drink some water,” Eveline raced towards them, passing her the bottle.
The girl refused to look at her, but Gracey, who worked for her, immediately opened the top and handed Stacy the bottle.
“You need to clear your mind because I will not waste my time with your silence.
And just to make sure, I’ve already notified your folks about what you’re up to.” The mention of her parents attracted her attention right away, and she reached for the bottle with shaky hands.
Eveline and Gracey exchanged meaningful glances and watched her drink all the way till she finished the bottle.
She then wiped her lips with her long sweatshirt sleeve and gave Gracey a contemplative look.
“Good, now that you are sober, you can talk,” Gracey replied as they both grounded Stacy by blocking her path.
