Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 294
Chapter 294: He warned to expose the truth to Eveline Chapter 294: He warned to expose the truth to Eveline Ella awoke in the morning and prepared to depart for work.
There had been an unpleasant quiet between her and Mischelle, which she felt was becoming more intense with each passing day.
Her mother was not ready to chat, and she was giving her the necessary time.
However, their quiet was doing nothing to draw them closer together.
Ella was about to leave the room when Mischelle stopped her.
“Don’t leave without breakfast,” Ella said, stopping in her tracks to glance at the breakfast table, which was laden with various foods.
She was aware that Mischelle enjoyed making food, which she later inherited, but seeing that much food for breakfast was overwhelming.
She took a chair for herself and sat down, nodding quietly as Mischelle assisted her in filling her plate.
“You have been out until late at night.
Aren’t you aware of the risk of getting a cold in such a chilly climate?” she said, offering her some herbal tea.
“Have it.
I heard you sneezing all the time,” she remarked, and Ella silently took the cup in her hand and drank from it.
Ella was debating starting a discussion with Mischelle.
They’d never been in such an embarrassing circumstance before, but now that she had taken the initiative, Ella couldn’t help but express her thanks.
“Thank you.
I just forgot I had a cold,” she murmured.
Mischelle saw Ella’s hesitancy.
However, she was determined in her decision and would never consider bringing up the same topic she refused to discuss that night.
It was better that she didn’t know about it.
“When are we supposed to meet Stefan’s parents?” Mischelle inquired.
“Today is the evening.
“They invited me to dinner.” Ella replied.
Mischelle saw her daughter constantly ignore her, and it was enough to test her patience.
“I know you are upset because of our last argument, but trust me, Ella, it’s better that we don’t talk about it now or in the future” .
Mischelle stated, hoping Ella would comprehend what she was saying.
Ella nodded.
“I understand, Mom, which is why I am willing to give you the time you need.
However, there is no way I am going to stop myself from discovering whose blood I am,” she declared, her tone hard and serious.
Their eyes locked, and an invisible warning passed between them, but Ella was the first to look away.
“I’ll be going to the office.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Thank you again for the breakfast, and don’t forget about supper tonight at Stefan’s place,” she said before taking her bags and walked out the main entrance.
Mischelle remained silent the entire time.
Her heart was filled with a maelstrom of emotions.
How could she tell her daughter that her father was a Mafia member and that she had already met him?
Her body became numb and her heart started racing the moment she thought of his face.
It was the worst mistake she’d ever made, but she had no alternative but to help her father pay his medical bills.
She was in need of money, and in her helplessness, she did what was demanded to do, but she failed to consider the ramifications of her actions after that night.
**** Ella despised the fact that she sounded so unpleasant back at home, but she didn’t want Michelle to have the sense that she would abandon her answers simply because she wasn’t ready to talk about them.
All these years, she blamed a man for being a coward, but it came out that her mother was the one who lied to them, and she was still attempting to hide the truth by not telling her the name of that man.
“Babe, have you told Mischelle about dinner tonight at my place?” Stefan’s voice jolted Ella out of her reverie, and she stared at him with a blank gaze.
Stefan shrugged, perplexed by her reaction, but she quickly nodded as her mind registered his words.
“Oh, yes, I did inform her, but there is something I need us to do before we all go to your place,” responded Ella.
“What do we have to do?” He asked.
“I need to bring something for your parents because this is the first time we will be coming to your house as a family.” Ella still felt it unusual, but now that their relationship was progressing, she wanted to make sure she didn’t disappoint anybody.
“Babe, you understand there is no need to get anything.
Stefan declined.
“Mom and dad would scold me for letting you think about it.” “I understand, but my mother would not appreciate it.
So please, just this time.
“I promise not to bring anything the next time,” Ella urged.
She looked so cute while begging with him that he couldn’t deny her.
Ella knew Stefan and his family were materialistic and valued connections over material possessions, but because their parents were meeting for the first time, she wanted to offer them something as a gift.
As they began working, Stefan received a call from Gabriel, who informed him about their visit to the Retro bar and how he wanted to know more about it beforehand.
“Retro bar, why would you all want to go there?” Ella inquired after she overheard him mention the name.
“Eveline want to inspect something there, so Gabriel wants me to help him out with a few things.” Stefan mumbled as he began tracing the characteristics of the location.
As he continued to work, his look shifted from intrigued to sad.
“I wonder what my little sister is up to because I clearly don’t see this place as worthy of their visit,” Stefan mumbled, causing Ella to frown in uncertainty.
“What do you mean?” She queried, plainly perceiving his anger with the topic that had sparked her curiosity.
Stefan glanced at her before rotating the screen towards her, leaving Ella stunned.
“You believe she will meet someone there.
I mean, as far as I know, she’s not a party person.
So when she decides to visit a place like this, I smell something fishy,” Ella explained.
“Of course she is there to meet someone and for that, Gabriel wants me there too,” responded Stefan.
Ella didn’t want to become involved, but after learning that the location was safer because it served as a gathering point for numerous mafia organizations, she couldn’t help but be concerned.
“Just make sure you all get back safe,” she murmured, still not persuaded.
**** Erna remained in the garden with Susan, hearing stories of Eveline’s childhood, even though the sun had already set.
She was initially saddened to learn how she suffered a mental breakdown following her death, but she was relieved that Susan kept her word and cared for her daughter as if she were her own.
“I will always be grateful to you, Susan.” Erna reached out to take her hand and expressed her heartfelt thanks.
Susan smiled weakly.
“You don’t have to because, in some ways, I was also responsible for her suffering.
If Tiffany hadn’t-” “It’s all in the past, Susan, and I know you’re still sorry for what occurred.
But trust me, I will never blame you or Eveline since she knew you were innocent the entire time,” Erna said, her eyes conveying a sense of assurance that reassured Susan.
“Now that I’m back, why don’t you try to pursue your dreams?” Erna remarked, causing Susan to pause for a moment before flashing her glance at her.
“I-I…how can I?” she faltered, having never considered living her dreams.
It had been a while, and she had forgotten if she still possessed the necessary abilities.
“It is still not too late, Susan, and I know you always wanted to teach but couldn’t.
So, now that you have the chance, why not try it?” Erna suggested.
Susan was suspicious but nodded, planning to consider her offer.
As they continued to speak, they heard someone clear their throat, which drew their attention to the individual standing to the side.
Jacob came to give Jonathan some files.
However, when he noticed his wife sitting with Erna, he couldn’t help himself from approaching them.
Susan wasn’t expecting Jacob to show up, but his look did stir something in her heart.
It’s been a while since things started to improve between them.
Jacob worked hard to convince her that he had changed.
Not only did he stop drinking, but he also began focused on repairing their relationship and stopping gambling.
He had realized his mistake at this time and was sincerely attempting to put things right.
Erna smiled at him and then excused herself, leaving Susan and Jacob alone.
“What brings you here?” Susan asked.
“Do you want to pursue your dream of becoming a professor?” he inquired, taking Susan by surprise.
But then she realized something and lowered her look.
“So you indeed heard us?” She mumbled, and he instantly asserted that it was not on purpose.
“I didn’t plan to, but once I saw you, I couldn’t stop coming for you.
It was then that I heard.” Jacob hesitated.
“Will you allow me if I want to?” Her response surprised him, but he instantly consented.
“Of course.” You can accomplish anything you want.
“I just want to see you happy,” his words warmed her heart, and she couldn’t stop smiling.
After that day, Jacob was no longer the same person.
He was a different man, intellectually and physically.
“Then I’d like to pursue my dreams,” she remarked, bringing a warm smile to his face.
Erna, who was standing at a distance, couldn’t help but be delighted for the newlyweds.
She knew what Susan had gone through all these years, but she was relieved that everything was great between her and Jacob.
She walked away from there and into her bedroom, where she found him sitting peacefully in his chair.
Her smile faded instantly, and she stretched out to him.
“Jonathan, is everything okay?” She inquired, concerned, and her heart fell as he raised his gaze to meet hers.
