Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 298
Chapter 298: A doubt that needs to confirm Chapter 298: A doubt that needs to confirm Eveline jerked awake when she realized she hadn’t returned home last night.
She searched around but couldn’t find Gabriel anywhere.
“Hn, where is Gabriel?
We must return home.” She wept and immediately climbed out of bed.
Eveline dressed and turned to go when the room door opened and Gabriel strolled in, holding a plate of breakfast.
“Where are you going?” He asked nonchalantly as he made his way to the bedside table.
He kept the tray on it and stared at Eveline, who was rushing towards him with anxiety.
“Gabriel, we need to go home.
I informed Mom and Dad that I was not going to come home.” “I already have.
So don’t worry, they already know you’re with me,” Gabriel assured her, and she blinked.
“You did?
Already?” She inquired, and he nodded before grabbing her hand and assisting her back to the bed.
He helped her sit, then picked up the tray from the table and placed it between them before taking his seat.
“I notifie your parents far sooner than we went.
So they know you weren’t coming home and were with me,” he added, opening each breakfast container lid and gently signaling her to glance below.
Eveline gaped at the exquisite brunch, and her stomach growled.
Gabriel chuckled and swiftly scooped up the sandwich, passing it to Eveline for a taste.
She pouted at him, but the fragrance of the sandwich calmed her down and she opened her mouth to take a bite.
“Hmm.
It’s yummy,” she mumbled, relishing the taste of the food, but then something clicked in her head, and she blinked her eyes doubtfully.
“But there are no servants here, so this breakfast,” she wondered, but his remark left her dumbfounded.
Gabriel’s casual statement, “I made it,” caused Eveline to blink in surprise.
“You did what?” She asked, still unable to trust him.
“I made breakfast.
Don’t you like it?” he asked, hastily taking a mouthful for himself and nodding to his preparation.
“I can pass this test.” He commended himself for unexpectedly excelling at cooking.
Eveline was aware of Gabriel’s rudimentary cooking skills because she had seen him prepare the barbecue during camp.
However, he was not particularly great since they ended up burning the most meat and only eating salads.
But this breakfast, especially the sandwiches, was very amazing.
She couldn’t resist kissing him on the lips, leaving him shocked.

Gabriel was utterly enamored with her beauty, but then Jedrick’s words crossed his thoughts, and his eyes heated slightly.
What if everything mentioned is true?
What if Eveline is not Uncle Jonathan’s daughter but- “Why do you look like you saw a ghost?” I was expecting a reaction, but you appear to be pondering your next move,” Eveline laughed as she proceeded to devour her meal.
“Eat eggs, too.
Last night I was too tough with you.
You must have energy to walk.” Eveline’s face reddened, and she nodded swiftly, biting into the egg.
Gabriel grinned at her obedient behavior.
After finishing breakfast, they quickly departed the penthouse.
Gabriel dropped Eveline back at Miller Mansion and drove to work from there.
On his way, he called Leon and asked him to look into an issue that had been worrying him since last night.
He needed an affirmation before delving further into Jedrick’s assertion over the phone.
“If Eveline is not Uncle Jonathan’s daughter, how was she born?” The concept alone sent shivers down his spine.
He didn’t want to make assumptions that were disrespectful to Erna, but if Jedrick’s comments are accurate, was she truly forced by him, and is this why Jonathan was doing everything he could to disguise the truth so Eveline wouldn’t find out?
Gabriel clenched his jaw.
He was attempting to make sense of everything, but the more he ran his thoughts, the more infuriated he became.
I need to confirm everything.
I just can’t trust the man who was an expert at fooling people.
Gabriel decided to put the thought to rest for the time being and drove to the company.
**** Eveline entered the house, where she discovered her parents seated in the living room.
Aunt Susan also joined them.
“Oh, here she is,” she heard her mother say, and her heart sank at the memory of last night.
Gabriel made it plain that she would inform her parents about their visit, but she couldn’t avoid the discomfort of confronting her parents right after their daughter returned him, making love with her lover.
“Good morning, everyone,” Eveline mumbled as she approached them.
Their nonchalant attitude gave her peace of mind, but what she heard next surprised her.
“Did you hear Susan is going to work as a professor?” Eveline’s smile faltered as she turned to face Susan, who appeared worried as Erna relayed the news.
“You won’t be working here anymore, Aunt Susan?” Eveline asked.
Though she was thrilled, a part of her wished Susan would not leave her side.
“It’s not confirmed yet, young Miss.
But if you don’t want me to-” “Who said I would stop you?” Susan’s comments were enough to make Eveline pleased.
For a brief minute, she became selfish, but as soon as she heard her, she realized Susan was still putting her opinion ahead of hers.
“I’d be delighted if you wanted to do anything different.
But you will still come here,” she said with a phony, serious expression.
Susan smiled softly and nodded.
Eveline was not the type to keep someone back, and now that Susan could finally live her life as she saw fit, there was no way she could hold her back.
“See, I told you Eve wouldn’t be mad,” Jonathan said, flashing his gaze toward Susan.
“Why would I be mad?” Eveline inquired, perplexed by her father’s attempt to explain.
“Oh Eve, Susan was unsure if you would be angry if she changed jobs.
But we were sure of your response and informed her it wasn’t the case, but she still waited to hear it from you.
Eveline gazed at Susan with wide eyes and then lowered her gaze.
“I have been by your side all my life and leaving you didn’t seem right,” replied the woman.
Eveline could not have been more touched than when she heard her.
“Aunt Susan, I would never want to let you go, but you know I am not selfish in holding you back.
But all I need you to know is that we are still here for you, and I will need you more than anyone else.
Susan nodded.
“You don’t have to ask, Young Miss; this aunt of your will never leave you,” she informed her.
While the talk was going on, Jonathan and Erna were keeping a close eye on Eveline from the sidelines, and to their relief, everything appeared to be back to normal after Jedrick’s threat the night before.
