Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 307
Chapter 307: Then prove it Chapter 307: Then prove it Eveline stood stunned by Gabriel’s outburst.
Her eyes glistened with tears as she stared at him in sorrow.
“I-I didn’t mean to-” Her throat tightened as she attempted to pronounce those words, but Gabriel sliced through it, not allowing her to complete.
“I know you don’t mean to, but you always do it.
Have you genuinely considered my feelings, Eve?
Are my words and emotions not worthy of your attention?
Tell me why you promise me and do what you say you will.
What would you have done if I hadn’t acted on instinct after we failed to contact you?
What would have occurred if that Marco guy had hurt you?
Gabriel vented his frustration without realizing he was hurting Eveline in the process.
She hissed in pain, and it dawned on him what he was doing.
Gabriel quickly let go of her hand, his thoughts clearing and his eyes dazedly staring at her.
Gabriel, unable to bear those tearful eyes, drew her into an embrace and held her close.
“You are aware that I shall die if something happens to you.
Yet you kill me with your acts.” Gabriel’s voice trembled as he finally let down his guard.
Eveline blinked, letting the tears she had been fighting back fall from her eyes.
Her arms instinctively wrapped around him, relieving his discomfort as she stroked his back.
“I am sorry” was all Eveline could say.
Though she had repeated it every time she made a mistake, this time she was sincerely sorry for her actions because she realized how deeply it had hurt Gabriel to the point where he was pushing himself away.
Eveline continued to stroke his back till he eventually relaxed.
She knew how ridiculous it was to believe that if she apologized, Gabriel would forgive her.
But now it was far beyond his forgiveness.
“You promised me yet you-” Gabriel pulled back, his face stained with tears.
“What shall I do to make you understand Eve?
Tell me if there’s any way I can make you see the turmoil in my heart, the anxiety that grows with every passing day.
Don’t you see what would happen to me if you-” Gabriel sighed, taking a step back and running his hand across his face.
“Tell me that you love me and mean it,” he urged, leaving Eveline speechless.
“I do,” she responded immediately, but he shook his head.
“Then prove it to me because I can’t believe any of your word unless I see you following it” Gabriel knew it was an extreme move, but in order to make Eveline understand her error and not take him for granted, he had to challenge her.
Eveline’s brow wrinkled as she heard his comments.

How was she expected to prove her love?
Can’t he already see it?
“H-How should I do that?” she inquired.
Gabriel moved perilously near to her and whispered.”Marry me” Eveline’s eyes widened as she heard his remarks.
“In that way, I will have you by my sight and you will not act foolishly knowing that there is someone whose life rely on your existence” Gabriel declared, his expression devoid of emotion, nearly making Eveline drop her jaw.
“You must be joking,” Eveline said, breaking into a quick laugh.
“Even now, you don’t take me seriously.
How are you going to prove your love for me?”Gabriel scoffed and moved to get into the car, slightly pushing her aside.
Eveline blinked hysterically at his reaction and followed him.
Once inside, she turned to face him.
“But it’s blackmail.
Aren’t we already engaged?
You propose to me, and I agree, but I need to complete my studies before marrying you,” she reasoned.
Gabriel started the car before driving away, his gaze completely ignoring the raving female next to him.
“So that doesn’t mean we can’t marry before that?” He eventually spoke, which caused Eveline to growl in frustration.
“Your words don’t make sense to me,” she spat, and sat down with her arms crossed.
“It will make more sense to me if you think about it from my perspective.
You are continually risking your life to discover the truth, but have you considered the ramifications of your actions, Eve?
I keep telling you how much it hurts me, but do any of my words make sense to you?
So why should your words make sense to me?
Tell me?” Eveline was left speechless.
She had never heard Gabriel speak so much, and now his words were making sense to her.
“Is this the only way to prove that I love you, and not another way around?” Eveline inquired with a narrowed gaze.
Gabriel shrugged as she closed her eyes and took a big breath.
“Fine, let’s do it if that’s what makes you believe that I love you because I don’t see any other way to make you feel my sincerity,” she remarked, taking Gabriel completely off guard and causing him to hit the brakes.
He looked at her with wide eyes and exclaimed, “You what?” “What?
What?
Now you don’t understand what I’m saying,” she inquired, before sighing.
“I love you, Gabriel.
I truly do, but if marrying you makes you believe in my love, then let us do it,” she reiterated, this time serious enough to make him reconsider his own decision.
Gabriel recognized he had been overbearing, and as a result of his agreement, he said those words, which only made him look bad.
Gabriel lowered his head to the steering wheel and closed his eyes, reflecting on his actions.
What did he do?
Was he pushing away the girl he loved?
His love was not cruel in not considering Eveline’s emotions, but his fury caused him to overlook them.
He chuckled while keeping his head down, then turned to look at the girl next to him.
“You have the weirdest way of making me realize my mistake, but I still want you to prove your love for me, Eve,” he murmured, pulling himself back to sit up.
“And not by marrying me, but by protecting my heart and never allowing it to feel neglected,” he added softly, cupping her face with his palm.
Eveline cautiously leaned in for his touch.
Her eyes closed, and she took a deep breath, nestling into his hand that caressed her.
“You know, when I was alone with Marco, all I could think about was the promise I gave you.
I tried Gabriel, but he was too strong,” she said with a tear in her eye, finally confessing to him what was going through her mind when she was alone.
“You know I can never get myself into trouble unless I am confident you will always come to my rescue,” she grinned as he frowned.
“So you purposely did that knowing I will somehow rescue you” “Of course,” she said jokingly, and they both burst out laughing.
