Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 31
Chapter 31: We are together
Gabriel’s expression darkened when he found Eveline with Alex.
He drove over to the Miller Mansion to pick Eveline up for college, only to find out she left the house a few minutes before he arrived.
Gabriel arrived at the college without any delay and discovered her car parked in the usual spot, but she was not inside.
He then asked her driver more questions and discovered that Eveline had gone toward the playfield. Though he was perplexed, he followed her and discovered that she was smiling and shaking hands with Alex.
The mere thought of Eveline being with someone else irked Gabriel to the point that he fumed in rage and walked towards the two.
“Did not I tell you not to pursue him?” Gabriel gave Eveline a lethal glare while clenching his teeth.
Eveline chose to defy his advice and meet with Alex, even though he had made it apparent that he had spoken with him and the outcome was not what they expected.
The startled look on Eveline’s face soon turned into fury as she knitted her brows and shot a glare at Gabriel.
“And I never agreed with you” Eveline shot back, leaving both Alex and Gabriel shocked by her remark.
For nearly a year and a half, Alex had been watching Eveline, and he had never once witnessed her acting rudely toward Gabriel.
Eveline would always have this adoring smile on her face when she was around Gabriel, regardless of the circumstances.
With an ugly expression on his face, Gabriel reached out and took Eveline’s hand, obliging her insults.
“Whatever,” he replied, dragging her out of there before he could get a response.
With a sly smile, Alex observed the scene in front of him. There was something he saw in Gabriel’s eyes that brought immense relief to his heart before he decided to walk away.

Eveline was being pulled by Gabriel, who eventually found a quiet area to push her up against a concrete wall.
“Gabriel..” Even though Eveline gave a painful hiss, Gabriel continued to chastise her.
“Why did you meet Alex when I told you not to do anything on your own?”
Eveline’s disregard for his advice and their covert meeting with Alex infuriated Gabriel to the point where he lost his temper and became irate with her.
Eveline flinched a little but soon recovered and pushed him away.
“And who are you to stop me? Gabriel, I have stated quite clearly that I will not put up with your meddling in my affairs. You did what you had to do, and now it is my chance to clear my name.”
Eveline had been pondering over this thought for a while. Since Gabriel called her “a lair,” she has been so curious about the entire incident that she does not care to listen to anyone.
Gabriel stood still for a while, considering what she had said. He acknowledged that doubting her was a grave mistake on his part, but he also made an attempt to apologize, something she declined to accept.
And now she repeated those harsh words again, it made him feel the pain in his heart.
She was telling him over and over again that she no longer admired him and that having him in her life was nothing less than strange. It felt like she was drawing a line between them.
“You don’t have to prove anything. I am aware of your innocence,” Gabriel said, looking at her with a great deal of guilt as the anger in his eyes subsided.
“But that doesn’t change anything, Gabriel, because the damage is done. My greatest mistake in life was falling in love with you, and I am glad I realized that before it was too late.” Eveline didn’t hold her words back and kept on stabbing Gabriel’s heart.
It was evident in his eyes that he was still restless even as she expressed those words, but that pain was nothing compared to what he had given her.
“For the last time, I kindly ask that you cease disturbing me. This false impression of us being together is something I want to dispel because it only makes me feel worse,” she said for the last time before making a turn to leave.

“What if I refuse to stay away from you?” Gabriel’s words stopped Eveline midway. Taking a step closer to her, he asked, “What if I say the damage has been done?”
Eveline turned, a deep frown marred on her face.
“You mentioned not creating the false impression that we are dating, but Eve, we are together already. It was not just your reputation that was damaged when those pictures were released; I was also pulled along. Therefore, it is the same problem for me as it is for you.”
Eveline clenched her jaw, glaring at Gabriel.
“We need to work together to clear our names,” he declared, snapping her last vestige of composure.
“You…” Eveline wanted to shout, but her voice died when she saw him playfully smiling at her.
Eveline felt fury seep into her body as if his response was a mockery, and she stomped from there, leaving Gabriel alone.
Eveline did not look behind her as she made her way to the main building, but the looks she received once inside led her to believe that Gabriel was, in fact, following her.
Gabriel stopped for a moment once they reached the second floor and he watched Eveline enter her classroom. It was then he decided to leave, but a familiar voice reached his chords and he stopped.
Turning around he saw Tiffany making her way upstairs and soon standing before him.
Gabriel’s eyes darkened. He began to sense, for whatever reason, that Tiffany was not trying to be who she claimed to be. He was just entertaining her because she was friends with Eveline that’s it.
But after what happened that day, he sensed there wasn’t any need for him to be kind to her instead.
Tiffany saw Gabriel’s attitude shift, but she kept a miserable expression on her face and apologized
“I am sorry for whatever Gracey said the other day. She was just protecting me following Eveline’s recent mistreatment of me.”
“Then should not you clarify things already, because we all knew Eveline did not purposely push you,” Gabriel said, his face darkening at her words.
