Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 310
Chapter 310: Eveline is not Uncle Jonathan’s daughter Chapter 310: Eveline is not Uncle Jonathan’s daughter Stefan took the inebriated Ella back to a hotel room that he had urgently rented.
They were intended to fly back home the same day, but due to unexpected circumstances, he had to postpone their departure till the next day.
Stefan closed the door with his leg and came inside the room, assisting Ella to sit on the bed.
She was swaying because she had consumed so much alcohol, but what disturbed him the most was that she had stopped crying and said nothing.
She never sobbed while drowning in her pain.
Stefan thought it strange because it was simple to relax when she cursed or vented her feelings, but the silence and numbness on her end were ripping his heart out.
He wondered how deeply the truth had cut through her-that she didn’t feel enough pain to scream.
While he continued to look at her, he realized how odd life was and that seeing it develop in such a heartbreaking manner was not something he wanted for Ella.
She was once a pure spirit, but now she resembled the broken doll that felt nothing but numbness.
Sigh…
Stefan cautiously kneeled before her, carefully removing her shoes and setting them aside.
He then collected her legs and positioned them to lie flat on the bed.
Stefan was so careful that he worried that even the slightest forceful touch would break her.
“Go to sleep,” he murmured near her ear, carefully helping her lie down.
Stefan really wanted this night to finish so he could see his old Ella again tomorrow.
Though it was a wishful fantasy, he still longed to see her talk and behave as she had before.
Ella continued to stare blankly at the ceiling, while Stefan caressed her hair like a mother coaxing her child into sleep.
It took him some time, but she eventually dozed off, and he quickly tucked her under the comforter before leaving the room.
Stefan stepped into the living room and pulled out his phone, which displayed Michelle’s missed calls.
He had been deliberately delaying picking them up since he was completely concerned about Ella, whom he never wanted to see again.
Attending Michelle’s call was something he would like to do later.
Inhaling deeply, he hit the call button and summoned Mischelle, who answered the phone promptly.
“Stefan, dear, why aren’t you answering my calls?
What happened?
You were supposed to be home right then.” Michelle’s tone conveyed worry, and Stefan couldn’t help but feel terrible for her.
She was one of the strongest women he’d ever seen, fighting her fate with her head held high and never letting it get to her.
He pondered how much she had inside her heart to be able to smile with those innocent eyes that might have cried during a crisis.
“I am sorry, Mischelle, but we were busy with some important work and as for returning tonight, it seems impossible since we still have much to look at,” Stefan boasted.
In contrast, Mischelle remained silent.
She had been feeling odd all day.

It was something she couldn’t explain, but ever since Ella departed, she couldn’t keep her thoughts off of her abrupt departure.
Despite Stefan’s assurance that they needed to attend a business meeting, her heart was racing.
“Okay, but where’s Ella?
I was also expecting to hear from her.
Could you please ask her to call me?” Mischelle simply wanted to hear from her daughter and be reassured that everything was fine and her concerns were baseless.
Stefan chewed his lip, thinking, but then hummed.”I’ll ask her to call you back once we’re finished with the work,” he added, putting Mischelle’s remarks to rest before hanging up the phone.
Stefan stayed there for a while before going to the bedroom, but as soon as he walked in, Ella was no longer asleep on the bed.
Fear struck, and his gaze wandered across the room, only to see the bathroom door partially open.
He barged in without wasting a second, only to discover Ella slumbering on the ground, soaked in water.
Stefan’s heart broke the moment he saw her unmoving, with tears streaming down her cheeks.
She let the water pour from the shower, chilling her entire body.
“Dove,” his voice cracked, and he went to her side.
He turned off the tap and prevented the water from dripping on her.
His legs collapsed and he quickly engulfed her in his arms.
“Do not injure yourself, Dove.
“Please,” he begged.
As much as he wanted to vent her feelings, he found himself breaking down next to her.
Stefan felt every fiber of his body burning with each tear that fell from her eyes.
It was terrible.
Ella remained mute for another minute, but his words struck her like a bolt, causing her entire body to shiver and bursting into a heartbreaking cry that filled the entire restroom.
She cried like a broken child who had lost her way.
She was the victim of rape, and when she realized her existence was a horrific crime, she considered suicide.
“I secretly loathe her for hiding everything from me.
I blamed her for lying to me and forcing me to bear the misery she had endured for years without saying anything.
She was exploited, Stefan!
Do you realize how helpless she must have felt when that bastard touched her without her permission?” “I cannot imagine how much suffering she must be in.
Her buddy, the one she was supposed to trust, pushed her into the hands of the man who snatched her innocence, and here I was accusing her of lying about everything.
It wasn’t anything she would brag about, but I did question her for not telling me about my father sooner.
How would she tell me that she was raped, and I am the result of that tragic night?” Ella continued to vent, pouring out her feelings.
She just wanted to hug her mother for being so brave and handling everything, no matter what she went through.
A lady in her position would have aborted the child, which was just a painful memory she wanted to get rid of.
But Mischelle never considered murdering it.
Despite being remembered as nothing more than a scar, she loved her with all her heart, swallowing her sorrow and horror and giving her a life in which she could stand tall without being looked down on.
“How can I blame her?
All she did was give birth to me, despite knowing how I was created.
How could I resent her, even for a brief minute, when all she did was commit her life to making my life better?
All mom wanted was for me to live with dignity and not let anyone’s remarks affect me.She loved me when she had the right to dispose of me and avoid bearing the weight of my life.” Stefan embraced her closer, brushing away the tears that streamed down her cheeks.
“What should I do, Stefan?
How can I pretend I don’t know anything?
How can I see her in her eyes now that I know everything?” Ella inquired, clinging onto his arm.
She found herself in a major quandary.
Ella had lied to her mother, and now that she knew the truth about her history, she was afraid to confront her.
“Why does that man have to wreck everyone’s lives?
What damage has anyone done to him?
What a mistake my mother made when he used and flung her around like dirt, impregnating her without knowing how she would survive in this judgmental society.” Ella wiped away her tears, her eyes filled with hatred.
“I wish I could make him pay for what he’s done to us.
My mother deserved happiness with the man she actually liked, but after whatever happened, she let go of that happiness because she believed she no longer deserved it,” Ella said.
She could forget how her mother would cry alone and, when asked what had occurred, would smile and say nothing.
Stefan hugged her as she burst into tears.
Ella’s heart was in so much misery that she didn’t realize how long she had been crying before passing out in Stefan’s arms.
Stefan helped her dry and placed her on the bed, tucking her under the comforter.
He then cleaned himself up and joined her in bed, drawing her into his arms and warming her cold body against his until sleep overtook him and he, too, fell asleep.
***** [Gabriel’s room] A deafening stillness filled the room, and the strain in Gabriel’s body increased with each passing second as he glanced at the data Leon had sent him.
“Eveline is not Uncle Jonathan’s daughter,” he whispered, reading over the line that supported Jedrick’s assertion from that night, leaving Gabriel in complete shock.
How was he going to convey the news to Eveline?
How was he going to tell her that the guy she grew up calling “dad” was not her biological father?
“How?” Gabriel questioned himself as he found himself in a difficult spot.
