Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 317
Chapter 317: I know what I am doing Chapter 317: I know what I am doing “You’ve been missing for a while, Stefan.
What are you up to?” Gabriel inquired following a phone conversation with his pal.
Gabriel had not heard from Stefan since that night at the Retro bar, because the next day he fled somewhere without making his existence known.
It wasn’t until yesterday that he overheard his mother and Aunt Nancy on the phone discussing how Stefan lied about going on a business trip solely to spend time with Ella.
It wasn’t surprising given Stefan’s capacity to do so, yet something inside him suggested otherwise.
Stefan, on the other hand, sighed and leaned on his chair.
“So much happened that I am still trying to figure everything out,” he said, causing Gabriel to crease on his remark.
“What do you mean?” he asked and heard Stefan take a deep breath.
“We went to Ella’s hometown and there we learned that Jedrick is Ella’s father.” The revelation caught Gabriel off guard.
This was something he never saw coming. “Are you sure?
Because, as far as I know, Eveline is also his daughter.” “…” Stefan felt like someone had hit him in the face, leaving him buzzing with incomprehensible ideas.
“I wasn’t prepared to hear this.
H-how is that possible, and what about Uncle Jonathan?
God, this is so confusing.” Stefan was still processing Gabriel’s words when he hesitantly asked.
“How did you find out?
Was it the truth that he was hidden all the time?” “Yes, and as far as I found, Jedrick told me the truth and I merely ran a DNA test between Eveline and Uncle Jonathan to confirm his words and the result were negative.” Stefan went silent upon hearing him.
“Then does that mean Eveline and Ella are-” “Sisters,” Gabriel concluded.
Silence fell between the two.
The notion of Eveline and Ella sharing the same blood with the man they loathe made their stomachs twist.
“You know, Ella even offered that I find her father using DNA.
She stated her blood type was rare, so they’d have an easier time finding a donor,” Stefan blurted out, unaware that his remarks would surprise Gabriel.
“Rare blood type?” “Hmm” Stefan’s words struck a chord with him, and he chose to speak with him later, citing pressing business.
Gabriel confirmed it himself, yet he still didn’t fully believe Jedrick’s remarks.
And knowing how Jedrick took advantage of Aunt Erna back then made him worry that Jedrick could be kind enough to earn anyone’s trust.
“Something is definitely a miss.
Why can’t I think he’s saying the truth?” Gabriel said, sinking into a deep meditation.
Meanwhile, Stefan returned to his work, but he soon noticed Ella making her way inside the office.
He paused.
She was off to the finance department to discuss the annual budget.
So, when she returned, he couldn’t help but note how exhausted she appeared.

“I told you to take a break.
You haven’t slept all night, and it shows on your face,” Stefan replied, rising from his seat and picking up the glass of water.
Ella gulped it down and handed it back to him, who set it back on the table before turning to face her.
“I can’t stay at home knowing Mom will be there the whole time.
I still need time to feel normal,” she stated with a sigh.
“But how about your health?
Are you confident you can carry for the entire day?
You can take half a day,” he said.
“No, I’ll be fine.” In fact, I’m working on something significant,” she explained, turning to walk to her seat.
Stefan followed her and drew up a chair to sit next to her.
“What’s so important than your health?” Stefan inquired, his tone slightly annoyed.
He would never want Ella to put her work above her health.
But the second she looked at him, something obvious caught his attention.
“You recall how we suggested a deal with the Larson.
They liked it and issued a confirmation email this morning.
They are looking forward to working with us,” she replied, leaving Stefan stunned.
They’d all seen the news about Larson being detained by cops for smuggling illegal substances from abroad.
He was not only fired from his company but also blacklisted.
However, this was not the case; the new owner of the Larson Group was none other than Jedrick.
So it was impossible for them to consider it.
“I believe we should retreat.
The proposal was sent while Larcon was the owner.
And now that he is behind bars, the agreement is regarded as null and void,” Stefan remarked.
Yes, when they proposed the deal, it was personally forwarded, with Larson’s genuine owner in mind.
However, since he was no longer the owner of the company, they would be taking a risk by even considering working with them.
“I need to talk to dad,” Stefan said, standing up and walking away, leaving Ella behind.
Stefan walked to his father’s office and entered.
“Dad, are you considering signing a deal with the Larson Group even after you know it’s no longer Larson’s but Jedrick owns it?” Stefan butted, interrupting his talk with the head of the IT department.
Marcus gave Stefan a furious glare before excusing him.
Marcus asked, “Where are you, Stefan?” as the door closed.
Don’t you think it’s disrespectful to barge in when you could knock on the door and ask permission?
Stefan lowered his sight.
Yes, it was impolite, but his need to speak with him took precedence, and he simply barged in regardless of whether his father was busy or not.
“I’m sorry,” he said, recognizing his mistake.
Marcus nodded, his gaze softening.
“Hmm, take a seat and then present your concerns,” he said, referring to the chair across his table, which Stefan immediately accepted.
“The deal with Larson shouldn’t be considered eligible,” Stefan stated his displeasure.
“Why is that so?
Do you want me to alter my choice simply because Jedrick now controls the company?” Marcus queried, leaving Stefan puzzled by his beliefs.
“Dad, Jedrick is Eveline’s father.
He is after them, and if you join forces with him, will it harm your relationship with the Millers?” Stefan inquired.
Jonathan and Marcus have been friends for a long time, but his father’s involvement with Jedrick may jeopardize their long-term friendship.
“I know what I am doing, Stefan, and I suggest you too agree with my decision.” Marcus said, leaving no space for argument.
Stefan could not believe his ears.
His father was ruining everything.
But why…?
“Alright, if that’s what you want.
But it will only be for this one project; after that, we will not deal with them,” he questioned.
“As you say, but for the time being, I’d like you to focus entirely on this deal.
I want you to keep an eye on everything,” Stefan frowned at Marcus’ words before slowly nodding.
“Good, now you can go and work,” Marcus dismissed him, and Stefan went out of the room.
Marcus stared at the closed door before darting his glance outside the window, his mind racing as he remained silent.
**** Eveline had just exited the classroom when her phone buzzed in her jeans pocket, and she hastily answered it.
“Are you watching me?” I just got out of class and you call,” Eveline quipped, smiling as she answered the phone, but was immediately met with a pin drop silence.
A wrinkle appeared between her brows, and she paused in the middle.
“What happened?
Aren’t you coming?” Gracey, who was just behind her catching up, questioned.
Eveline took away the phone and told her to go first.
Following Gracey’s departure, Eveline stationed herself in a silent corner of the hallway and yelled.
“Gabriel, why aren’t you speaking anything?” She inquired, her concerns growing as a result of his delayed response.
“Come out.
I am in the parking lot waiting for you,” he added abruptly, and she blinked in confusion.
Eveline quickly exited the college building and entered the parking lot, where she discovered Gabriel’s car parked inside.
She immediately reached and entered the car, her eyes unbelievably looking at the man who had nearly given her a heart attack earlier with his silence.
“Why did you stay quiet when you were here?
You know I got worried-” Before Eveline could continue her sentence, she was engulfed in his powerful arms, and he whispered in her ears.
“I missed you.” All of her fears were gone the moment his soothing voice reached her ears, and she immediately relaxed in his embrace.
“You know I was worried.
Never do that again; it makes me fear I made a mistake and you’ve stopped talking to me.” Eveline pouted, whispering over his shoulder.
Gabriel cautiously drew back and tucked the hair behind her ear.
“So now you consider my feelings don’t you?” He asked playfully, and she slapped his arm.
“Do not play with me.
Tell me what brings you here, aside from missing me.
I thought you were going to an afternoon meeting,” Eveline remarked comfortably, shifting herself in his arms.
“I still have time for it, but first I wanted to tell you something,” he added, and she gave him a slow, interested gaze.
“Remember Stefan and Ella were looking for her biological father?” Eveline agreed.
“So?” she inquired.
“They found him and he is none other than…Jedrick” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS akshaya_vanne Thank you QueenMeka for the golden ticket.
