Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 319
Chapter 319: Something has triggered you Chapter 319: Something has triggered you “Say something.” Stefan felt the dreed seep in when he noted Ella’s silence after he finished speaking those words.
He noticed how her grip on the ice cream cup tightened and her eyes were tormented with feelings he couldn’t quite understand.
“Did he also force Eveline’s mother?” Ella asked, blinking her lethargy away and turning to stare directly into his eyes.
Jedrick was a nasty guy in her eyes, regardless of the circumstances.
“I do not know.
Gabriel did reveal anything about it,” he said in a whisper, making Ella clench her jaw.
“I wonder how many lives he destroyed and how he never felt regret,” Ella spat, appalled by the guy who was, sadly, her father.
“Things are getting more complicated, which is why I want everyone of us to stay cautious.” Stefan sighed.
Ella took him seriously and understood all he was saying.
Slowly extending her hand, she caressed the back of his head and ran her fingers through his hair.
“Don’t be so stressed.
“Everything will be fine as long as we are strong enough to overcome all odds,” she added, forcing a smile.
“You make it sound so simple that I want to believe you, but my heart is still uneasy, Ella.
I recognized how our lives are linked in some way, which is why we share such a close tie and even feel powerless when somebody gets into trouble,” he said.
Stefan was a sensitive person when it came to his family and friends, and he never imagined any of them being injured.
Jedrick was like an endless pit striving to subdue everyone, and it terrified him to some extent that he would succeed, leaving them helpless.
Ella spotted him thinking something as he went silent, slowly leaned close, and pecked his cheek.
“Don’t overthink.
Everyone is looking for an opportunity to defeat him, and I am confident we will be able to do so,” she added, looking into his eyes with assurance. Stefan nodded and they quickly finished their ice cream before proceeded to Ella’s house.
Climbing down the bike, she handed Stefan the helmet, which he gratefully accepted, but not before grabbing her wrist and snatching her for a kiss.
Ella wrapped her arms around his neck, deeply appreciating the gesture.
Stefan’s gaze lingered on her wet lips for a minute before they agreed to part ways.
“Now go and apologize to Michelle that I won’t be having dinner with you tonight.” Stefan meticulously let go of her, watching her recede with their eyes periodically checking on each other and their lips stretched into a content smile till she entered the building and he drove away.
Ella rode the lift to her flat, but the moment she stepped inside, she was greeted with a pindrop silence.
Usually, her mother would binge watch a series while waiting for her, or she would try to cook something for her in the kitchen.
But she wasn’t in either the living room or the kitchen.
So, where was she?
Ella was intrigued by Mischelle’s absence and went to see if her mother was in her room.
To her astonishment, she discovered mom asleep on the bed with the light turned out.
“Mom,” Ella shrieked out in concern, turning on the lights and hurrying to her mother’s side.

Mischelle appeared to be sleeping, but Ella’s voice roused her from her rest, and her eyes weakly stared at her.
“Ella,” her scratchy voice prompted Ella to reach up and check her mother’s forehead, where she discovered her mother was feverish.
“You have fever,” she whispered helplessly, immediately opening the sidetable drawer to grab the thermometer and examine her mother right away.
Mischelle felt well in the morning.
In reality, she spoke with mom in the afternoon, and she sounded fine, but now that she was home, her mother was lying in bed, feverish.
Ella was aware that her mother was prone to illness, but when she saw her doing well, she never imagined she would become ill.
Mischelle, on the other hand, was too weak to comprehend what was going on; yet, in the back of her mind, all she remembered was the phone call she received this evening, which got her all worked up to the point where she got ill.
The horror coursed through her heart in such a way that it caused her to recollect her past and those terrifying moments that her brain was unable to function, and she broke out in beads of perspiration simply thinking about why now…
after all of this, she heard that haunting voice.
“Mom, I think we should call the doctor.
Resting would not help to lessen the fever.” Ella’s comment jolted her out of her stupor, and she peered at her before slowly agreeing.
Stefan was meant to ride home and return to Ella’s residence after she informed him about her mother.
She even called the doctor, who arrived and examined Mischelle.
“There is no need to worry.
She’ll be OK, and make sure she’s not stressed out.” passing the prescription the doctor left.
Ella assisted her mother in taking the medicine before returning to sleep and leaving her room.
“What was the stress doctor talking about?” Stefan questioned, capturing Ella’s attention.
Those comments stayed with her, and she wondered what had caused her mother’s concern that she would become ill.
“I do not know.
Maybe I should ask mom once she’s better.” Ella suddenly remembered something and dashed back into her mother’s room.
She had forgotten to keep a glass of water on the bedside table in case she needed it, but when she reached down to pick it up, she overheard her mother babbling something in her sleep.
She appeared distressed, with her brows creased and her forehead coated in beads of sweat.
“P-Please, don’t do this,” she whispered, trying to sleep, prompting Ella to feel for her side.
Ella tried to comfort her mother, but the words she said became clearer, and she recognized what was going on.
Her eyes welled up with tears, and she held her mother, attempting to soothe her.
“It’s okay, Mom.
I’m here with you.
You are safe,” she proceeded to console her sleeping mother, and her words did help her relax down and fall back asleep.
Ella recoiled and glanced at her mother with hazy eyes as soon as she heard her steady breathing.
“Something has triggered you.” Ella inquired, “Did anything happen after we spoke in the afternoon?” To her dismay, her mother was fast sleeping.
Ella knew her mother, and she knew something had happened to her; otherwise, she would not have shouted his name…
