Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 322
Chapter 322: I believe we should get used to it Chapter 322: I believe we should get used to it Stefan had just exited the bedroom when he observed Ella leave Mischelle’s room.
“How is she?” he said right away, drawing her attention.
The sight in her eyes piqued his interest, and he instantly approached her side.
“Her fever has lowered.
I made her eat porridge and medicines.
So I believe she’s resting by now,” Ella said, distressed.
It was obvious that she was furious over something.
“Did you ask Mischelle anything?” Stefan questioned, only to observe her pinching the bridge of her nose.
“I tried, but she declined to talk about it, claiming it was just exertion,” Ella weakly stated as she moved past Stefan to the couch.
Ella took a seat and leaned back, her head resting on the headrest and her eyes closed.
Stefan joined her after seeing how upset she was.
“Then I assumed it was the reason she got sick.
You do realize your mother likes to do tasks in her leisure time, and since she’s been here, all I’ve seen is her doing something,” Stefan reasoned, but Ella refused to accept.
“That is not conceivable, Stefan, because I heard her call Jedrick’s name in her sleep.
She was having such nightmares again after a long time, and I’m concerned that her abrupt fall in health is due to that man.” Ella confidently stated, “Something happened, or she wouldn’t be stressing so much.” Of course, she knew her mother as well as she knew herself, and she was not going to fall for her falsehood.
“She may prefer to keep it to herself for now.
But I am confident I will find out what happened to her.” Stefan continued to stare at Ella’s determination.
“If you say so, then do whatever you want, but I’ll be with you,” he said, pulling her attention to him.
Hearing his words, her heart instantly relaxed, and she scooted in to hug him.
“Who else would I look for besides you?
I made a mistake by pushing you before, but not now.
Only you keep me sane.
So there is no way I will trust myself in your absence.” Stefan chuckled and embraced her tightly.
“So, in my company, would you mind having breakfast?
You didn’t eat anything last night,” he observed, and she pulled back slightly.
Ella was starving and skipped dinner last night, despite Stefan bringing them takeout.
She continued to help her mother till she fell asleep.
But it was another day, and in order to keep going they needed to eat.
Ella agreed without hesitation with Stefan, and they went to the kitchen to deliver them the breakfast she had cooked for them.
**** [Miller House] “So you want to do an internship at Gabriel’s company?” Jonathan questioned, resting his tea cup on the table and looked carefully at his daughter.

“What’s wrong with doing that at our company?
It will help you become acquainted with the working process there, and you will also have me and Mark to assist you with any concerns,” Jonathan said, glancing at the couple, who exchanged fast glances.
“I know, Dad, with you and Uncle Mark, I won’t feel out of place.
But I don’t want to take advantage of the opportunity knowing that you won’t let me work hard and make things easy for me.” Eveline pointed, clasping her palm on the table.
“And Gabriel will not be lenient toward you.
You know that man kisses the ground where you walk.
He is more whipped than he admits.
Are you sure he will let the internship ever end?” Gabriel choked on his sandwich and dropped his gaze.
“I may be everything you describe me as, uncle, but I tell you that no one else will be able to lead Eveline in the same way that I can.
I am sure you are already familiar with it; after all, you have trusted me with her studies.” Eveline was amazed by Gabriel’s cool demeanor in dealing with the situation.
It’s no surprise that he didn’t care what others thought of him when he flaunted his feelings for her.
Jonathan was shocked by Gabriel’s quick-witted comment and nodded in agreement.
Erna only smiled, glancing at the children.
“Then I believe your father won’t mind you working with Gabriel.
Right, honey,” she responded, seizing Jonathan’s attention and changing his expression from dumbfounded to pookie.
“Yes, honey, whatever you say,” Eveline noticed how easily her father agreed with her mother and couldn’t help but feel glad for them.
“Then it’s final; you’ll do the internship at Gabriel’s company,” Jonathan announced, bringing the conversation to a close and allowing them all to resume their breakfast.
**** [Outside] “I never imagined it would be that easy to persuade dad.
I think having mom around is an advantage,” Eveline said as they approached the car and swiftly sat in the passenger seats.
“I think I was the one who persuaded Uncle Jonathan.
After all, he trusts you with me,” Gabriel replied matter-of-factly, prompting Eveline to roll her eyes.
“You wish.
If Mom hadn’t butted in, I wonder if Dad would have given your words any thought,” Eveline added, attempting to mock Gabriel despite her admiration for him back then.
Gabriel gave her a stern look, but when he saw the glint of mischievousness in her eyes and the way her lips curled into a smile, he realized she was teasing him.
“Then I think I should go back and tell them that you don’t want to work with me,” Gabriel remarked, wiping the smile off her face as she watched him reach to unlock the car door and snap.
“No way!
You will not do anything like that.
I was just teasing you.
Why is it that you never debate with me and always come to your own conclusions?” Eveline asked, grasping his hand.
He hesitated.
Gabriel grinned as he slowly looked at her.
She was so easy to discipline that he wondered whether she couldn’t tell the difference between a prank and seriousness.
Gabriel returned to his old stance and shrugged.
“Because you make it sound so serious that I want to be compelled to do everything you say,” he said jokingly.
“Compel?
In your dreams.
All you do is discipline me,” she huffed before letting go of his hand and returning to her seat.
Gabriel chuckled and indicated for the driver to start the car.
It took them twenty minutes to reach the coffee shop, where Stefan and Ella were already waiting for them.
The moment Eveline and Ella’s eyes met, a feeling of uneasiness washed over them.
They had been treating one another like sisters for days, unaware that they were actually sisters with the same father.
“Hello, Miss Stewart,” Eveline said hesitantly.
She was still processing the truth of their relationship when Ella spoke out.
“Sister would sound better, Eve; after all, we are one.” Eveline nodded and took a seat next to her, while Gabriel and Stefan exchanged a glance.
“I hope you don’t find it awkward now that we are…
really sisters.” Eveline did not want to force a relationship unless Ella was comfortable with it.
They both understood how they were brought into existence, and knowing that they share the same blood with the man they despise will eventually cause them to see each other differently.
“I believe we should get used to it without affecting our relationship.
Remember, we considered each other sisters even before we learned the truth, so let’s not let the discomfort come between us.” Ella smiled, relieving the tension in Eveline’s heart, and she nodded like an obedient kid.
“So now that you both sisters have cleared up any awkwardness, should we talk about why you called me here, my dear Eveline?” Stefan asked matter of factly, only to be met with a piercing glare from Gabriel.
“Your dear is sitting next to you, so stop calling my girl dear, okay?” Gabriel pointed, and Eveline and Ella giggled.
“Forget it,” Stefan said, rolling his eyes and waving his hand at Gabriel as if to clear the air before returning his focus to Eveline.
The joy on her face faded as his words sank in, and she asked Ella and Stefan, “How did you find out it’s Jedrick?” Ella’s expression stiffened as Eveline spoke, and she clasped her hand hard beneath the table, attempting to keep her fury at bay.
Stefan sensed the shift and carefully reached out to hold her hand, patting it with assurance.
When he watched her calm down, he turned to face Gabriel and Eveline and told them how one lead led to another, and they discovered the truth about her father.
Eveline gasped and immediately covered her mouth as Stefan revealed that Mischelle had been raped.
The situation was identical to her mother, who was taken advantage of while intoxicated and without her consent.
No surprise that man was a slime who enjoyed taking advantage of women based on his wants.
“He did something similar with Mom,” Eveline remarked, her voice low.
“To keep Mom by his side, he manipulated her and spiked her drink, assuming that she would choose to leave Dad after whatever happened between them; however, Mom refused and instead went away with Dad.” Her eyes sank as a tear rolled down her cheeks.
“But I have my doubts that Jedrick isn’t your father,” Gabriel remarked unexpectedly, flashing his gaze towards Eveline and shocking everyone.
