Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 337
Chapter 337: Straightforward with the straight and crooked with the crooked Chapter 337: Straightforward with the straight and crooked with the crooked Jedrick was on his way back to his meeting when Rick turned around and asked.
“The lady was quite defensive throughout.
Are you sure she’ll fall for your words? Jedrick hesitated, shifting his gaze from his phone to Rick.
His eyes were constantly inquiring, which amused him.
He was the enthusiastic child who wanted to know everything in his head.
“She may not be ready, but she will eventually have to.” I’ve learned one thing in life: be straightforward with the straight and crooked with the crooked, and Michelle currently falls into both categories.
She is direct in her approach, but her mind is bent, and I enjoy playing in the same way,” he stated, leading Rick to furrow his brow.
“Anyway, that is not your problem.
I’ll handle the lady my way,” he answered, dismissing the subject.
Rick didn’t say anything else, and they resumed driving.
Meanwhile, at Ella’s office, the trio heard the recording.
There was nothing unusual about Jedrick’s side, but what was amusing was his constant attempt at pretending.
However, they found relief in Jedrick’s limited knowledge of her mother’s broken marriage, as he had no other knowledge about their life.
“So, based on this recording, we can conclude that Jedrick is unaware of who I am despite the fact that I am your daughter,” Ella said quietly, leaning against her chair.
“But that doesn’t mean we’re safe,” she explained.
“Jedrick found you through us.
His persistent efforts with Hayes International granted him access to our lives and enabled him to monitor everyone associated with us, including you.
Without a doubt, he would prioritize safety.” Stefan was the one who reasoned.
Everybody agreed.
“But what happens next?
I told him that I would consider his apology, and he agreed to give me some time.
Michelle did whatever Ella ordered her, though she doubted the man was genuinely telling the truth.
“Jedrick shouldn’t become suspicious of you.
Ella stated, “It would be absurd to forgive him immediately, so let’s follow his rules and pretend I’m unaware of his move.” Ella sought her mother’s assistance because she wanted to know his intentions without him revealing that they were already aware of his plans.
She wanted him to believe that he had everything figured out, only for them to labor in the shadows, gathering information to bring him down.
“Mom, I think you should go back home.
I’ll book a cab for you,” Ella said.
They held a meeting with Jedrick about the concepts he had been rejecting all along.
With Marcus insisting on following the client’s request, they had three additional designs ready for him to choose from.
Michelle nodded and drove back home shortly after the cab came.

“Come on, let’s go to our destination,” Stefan remarked, and Ella quickly joined them in the car, leaving the company.

Gabriel cast a glance at Eveline, who appeared uneasy because she was hardly paying attention to the work. She had also been consistent throughout their journey.
‘Was she upset that I didn’t go home last night?’ Gabriel recalled how her face fell when he told her he wouldn’t be joining her.
As he continued to stare at her, a thought struck him.
Clearing his throat, he asked Eve, “Can you come here?
I need your suggestions on this overview.” Eveline jerked out of her reverie and glanced at Gabriel, dazed. She then looked at him, pointed to the paperwork on the table, and slowly stood up.
Eveline was uncertain that her proposal would be helpful, but she felt compelled to assist him and made her way around the table to his chair.
“How can I help you?” She leaned forward to examine the paperwork, but a hand swiftly dragged her, compelling her to sit on his lap.
“Gabriel, what are you doing?” Eveline gaped as she realized she was entangled in his arm. Her gaze darted to the door and then back to Gabriel, filled with anxiety.
“What are you doing?
Why are you ignoring me?” He inquired, unaware of their situation or being walked in on.
Eveline, bewildered, struggled to comprehend Gabriel’s words.
“Who is ignoring you?” With her head slightly tilted and her eyes confusingly staring at him, she spoke up.
“You,” he added, deepening her displeasure.
“Me?” “Yes, you.” Eveline had no idea where he got the idea that she had been avoiding him, but now that he had brought up the subject, she needed to know why he thought that way.
“And what makes you think I am being ignorant to you when we came all the way from home to the office together?” she asked, leaning back.
In defense, she folded her arms across her chest.
“Weren’t you?” Gabriel startled at the sight of her harsh expression, which made him rethink his thoughts.
Eveline arched her brow in puzzlement as she watched him analyze his own words.
“Then what are you thinking?” he asked, returning his gaze to her.
Eveline recognized that Gabriel had misinterpreted her distraction as something she had never considered.
Eveline took a long breath, slouched her shoulders, letting go of her defensive posture, and glanced at Gabriel with anxiety.
“I was thinking about Mom,” she said.
“What happened to Aunt Erna?
Is she all right?” He inquired, concerned.
“I doubt it, but I’m not certain because she’s quite adept at masking her emotions.
And I doubt Dad is aware of it,” she said, recalling their past night’s encounter.
“Mom appeared to be under stress.” Yesterday, after you left me at home, I found her walking alone in the garden.
When I inquired about her well-being, she pretended that everything was fine.
Eveline spoke without missing a single word.
Gabriel stared at her, puzzled, but soon composed. “Then maybe she’s right.
Perhaps she was simply taking a stroll.
Did she say anything to you?” He noted the change in Eveline’s demeanor, and she nodded like a child.
“Yes, she said she wasn’t feeling sleepy, so she decided to go for a walk,” Eveline responded sheepishly, scratching her head and looking at Gabriel’s surprised face.
“Yet you believe she’s hiding something.
Did you do the same thing when you were struggling to fall asleep at night?
He posed the question, to which she nodded in agreement.
Eveline could only reach this conclusion because she had previously experienced the same sleepless night.
Eveline reasoned that her mother might be experiencing something similar.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t go out at night, preferring to sleep with her husband.
