Sherlyn sighed and closed the file before looking at the woman seated across from her.

“There does not appear to be a problem with your reports for the time being, Mrs.

Erna, but your earlier medical history indicates that you endured stagnation for a few years before waking up, as well as a heart injury from which you fortunately recovered.

May I ask what happened to you that your body suffered so badly for years and only now you have regained your stability?” she inquired, leaning forward on the table, her hands clasped and her eyes peering attentively at Erna.

Erna pressed her lips together, anticipating this question.

She realized that in order to begin a session, she needed to be completely honest with her doctor.

“I was shot right in the heart,” she added after a little pause.

“That event led me into a coma for years, and after I woke up, I received therapy because I couldn’t walk properly.” Erna remained truthful throughout, not hiding anything from Sherlyn.

“You are a strong lady, Mrs.

Erna, but as your doctor, I will offer you a few reminders, and if you ever feel the need to stop, please let me know.

There is no coercion,” Sherlyn explained as they made their way to the session room while Susan waited outside.

“Today we’ll have our first session and see if your mind is strong enough to handle therapy,” Sherlyn said, motioning for Erna to recline on the couch while she slipped into the chair next to her, a book and pen in hand.

Erna did as instructed and settled down.

She then closed her eyes and followed Sherlyn’s instructions, gradually sliding into a trance-like state.

Her mind traveled back to when she was a child of approximately ten.

**** Erna exited the clinic following the session, ready to meet again the other day for the continuation of the session.  Sherlyn was going to take a brief break when her assistant entered with information on the patient Doctor Martin wanted to manage.

She took the file from the assistant and started reading, her eyes widening in recognition as she read the patient’s name.

“Jonathan Miller,” she muttered.

Sherlyn was astonished to see that Doctor Martin suggested she handle the case involving one of the most influential individuals.

She reviewed the facts and the condition mentioned inside before accepting the case.

Sherlyn swiftly requested that her assistant finalize the date with Jonathan Miller’s meet-up session before leaving the office.

**** Later that evening, the group of pals agreed to meet after work.

“So now he’s reaching out to Aunt Michelle,” Eveline remarked after Ella revealed all that had happened over the last two days.

“Yes, and I asked Mom to play along, making him believe that his plan is indeed working,” continued the woman.

I had assumed Jedrick would leave the rest of the family alone, but as Uncle Jonathan had previously mentioned, he prefers to maintain control over everyone’s lives before using them as pawns in his scheme.

So it’s not surprising that he’s trying to enlist Aunt Michelle in his scheme,” Gabriel remarked, finally making the connection between how he first met her and his current situation.

“After escaping exposure, he is looking for ways to make life more bearable for everyone.” Eveline whispered, “He’s using his cards wisely.” The mere mention of his name ruined her mood, and she couldn’t quit despising him.

“But he isn’t aware that we already know what he’s up to,” Ella said, and everyone nodded in agreement.

Stefan, who noted Eveline’s silence, touched her head.

“What are you thinking?” he questioned, disrupting her train of thought.

Eveline gave a feeble smile.

“Nothing.

I just want to be rid of this Jedrick as quickly as possible.

You know he’s been lying about everything all along,” she remarked, leading Stefan to lift his brow in surprise.

Eveline exchanged a look with Gabriel, who nodded with assurance.

“Jedrick is not my father.

In fact, he is infertile and unable to reproduce,” she remarked, shocking both Stefan and Ella.

“How’s that possible?” Ella experienced a sense of disbelief.

There is no way her mother could lie to her about her father.

Eveline, on the other hand, recognized Ella’s concerns and swiftly clarified her previous statements.

Ella fell silent as she thought over Eveline’s words.

“I doubt if this has to do with the drugs he overdosed on that night when he raped Mom,” Ella abruptly remarked, capturing everyone’s attention.

“Mom told me he was on drugs and needed someone to help him release his urge and get over the effects, so he asked Mom for it,” Ella said, looking earnestly at everyone.

“That could be the case, because when he tricked Mom, he was already incapable of bearing a child,” Eveline said, finding Ella’s statements persuasive.

Gabriel said, “The one who helped Jedrick in carrying out his plan is now residing under the name Bernard and working on a farm.” “And where is this farm?” Stefan asked.

“Somewhere in Hillwood Village,” Gabriel replied.

“That’s interesting that he chose a less populated area to start a farm,” Stefan smirked skeptically.

“That’s why I’m seeking further information, as everything about this raises doubts in my mind,” Gabriel agreed.

“Do you need any help?” Stefan asked.

“No, we have Uncle Kaden and Leon working on it.

You should handle Jedrick’s situation for now.” Gabriel was aware that Stefan was willing to assist but didn’t want to burden him with further responsibilities.

“By the way, are your grandparents already in town?” Gabriel switched topics and saw Stefan’s somber presence.

“They arrived this afternoon,” he explained.

Marcus and Stefan were at work and did not have time to greet them, but Nancy did so on their behalf.

Gabriel nodded, indicating comprehension.

He knew Uncle Marcus couldn’t tolerate the authoritative sight of his father, but as their only son, he couldn’t break relations with him.

“Then all the best, brother Stefan,” Eveline remarked with a thumbs up.

“I need some luck,” he groaned.

While Eveline and Gabriel consoled Stefan, Ella saw how restless he appeared despite their assurance.
