Chapter 34: Amused

THUD!!!

Everybody’s attention was drawn to Tiffany by the loud bag at the door, which made the girls in the restroom turn to watch her as she marched inside and entered one of the cubicles.

Thud!

She slammed her fist against the wall while perched on the toilet seat. She had tears welling up in her eyes and her chest heaving from the intensity of the anger she was holding inside.

“How dare she lie to me?” Tiffany clenched her teeth as she thought back to Eveline’s flip of words before she walked away leaving her stranded like a loser.

She not only deceived her, but she also forced her to admit her lie in public.

Tiffany had always been kind enough to believe that Eveline was not a cunning girl who would trick someone, but today she disproved Tiffany with the comments she made that were made public online.

‘What a cheap trick to defame someone!’

‘I am glad I do not have a friend who, after using you, reveals their true colors.’

‘Why had Eveline not noticed that she was petting a snake next to her? ‘

‘Why would she do that? Does it imply Tiffany is jealous of Eveline’s popularity?’

‘I have never liked this girl who used Eveline’s privilege to gain recognition from the students.’

Tiffany’s face darkened reading the comments under the video posted on their college forum. Everyone blamed her for not being appreciative of Eveline, who was always there to support her.

Many questioned if Tiffany was actually Eveline’s friend or if she only remained by her side to gain notoriety and attention.

Tiffany noticed as she continued to scroll through the comments that most of them were nasty and that very few of them were sympathetic.

Why did she not anticipate that students would come to criticize her for lying and falsely accusing someone? But soon something clicked in her mind and the grip on her phone tightened.

Tiffany ought to have recognized Eveline’s confrontation with her that day as a red flag that something was not quite right. However, she did not consider Eveline’s actions dangerous because she was so consumed by her desire to win Gabriel over through her.

However, this humiliation would stick in her memory because it let her see how smart Eveline was and how she had mistaken her for a gullible cow that would comply with her every word.

“Eveline, you dare make fun of me before everyone.” A dark glint flashed in Tiffany’s eyes as she vowed to make Eveline pay for the humiliation she endured as a result of her. “Now wait for the day you will regret being alive.”

“You will not only lose your face but also be hated by everyone,” she declared without an ounce of empathy in her voice.

[Cafeteria]

“Dude, watch this,” Stefan yelled, as he wildly patted Gabriel’s shoulder and held the smartphone in front of his face.

Gabriel shot an irritated sneer, but his eyebrows knitted when he looked at the screen.

Tiffany acknowledged lying about Eveline pushing her the other day in the video that was uploaded to the college forum.

The way she confessed everything with a straight face raised Stefan’s eyebrow.

“Why does she appear to have been coerced into saying all of this?” Gabriel peered over her bland words and expressionless face as Stefan spoke.

Although Tiffany acknowledged that she had lied the other day, it does not seem like she meant to say all of this.

Reversing the phone, Stefan perused the remarks that vilified Tiffany’s with no regard for decency.

“I never thought Tiffany would do something like this. I believed she was actually Eveline’s friend,” he remarked, grabbing Gabriel’s attention.

He was not interested in Tiffany; instead, he was curious about Eveline’s activities since he had caught a glimpse of her sly smile in the video.

Gabriel was aware that Eveline was the one who had made Tiffany confess, but he was still shocked by the way Eveline had returned her favor without drawing any notice to herself.

Slowly, the corner of his mouth curled upward as he thought of Eveline’s face. He was aware of Eveline’s occasional playful nature, but he never imagined her to be so cunning as to remove all of the student’s opinions regarding her in one fell swoop.

“Gabby, what are you smiling at?” Gabriel’s slight smile caught Stefan’s attention, and he grinned playfully.

He was aware of his uncool friend’s thoughts, but he had never imagined him to be so impish.

Gabriel’s smile quickly faded, replaced by sterility, as he wrenched his hand from his shoulder and hurriedly stood up to leave.

Stefan gaped and attempted to stop Gabriel, who was meant to have lunch with him, but Gabriel chose to ignore him and continue walking away.

“Brother, where are you-” Daniel’s words died as Gabriel didn’t hear him and took the other way leaving the cafeteria.

“Danny, my boy here,” Stefan said, waving a hand at Daniel as he observed him bafflingly approaching the table.

“Where is he going?” Daniel asked, gesturing to the door where Gabriel had left.

“Tsk, do not bother him. He is simply happy that he decided to skip his meal. Come and enjoy some sandwiches with me. I won’t be able to finish them.”

Daniel followed Stefan’s words and took one piece before shoving it inside his mouth. He was extremely hungry after he missed his breakfast this morning because of early class.

“Why isn’t Eveline here? Wasn’t she supposed to be here with us?” Daniel asked, oblivious to the turmoil surrounding Eveline’s life, but in a good way.

“Well, have a look at this. You will find out why she is not here with it.” Without bothering to clarify, Stefan put the video in front of Daniel, choking him during his bite.

“Careful” Stefan startled, quickly passing him water and caressing his back.

“What’s all this and when did this all happen?” Daniel gave Stefan a questioning look as he kept such a huge thing away from him.

Stefan gulped the sandwich, a gleam of fear crossing his eyes and he opened his mouth to speak.
