Eveline and Sherlyn were impatiently awaiting Kaden and Gabriel’s response.

There has been no update from their end for quite some time.

“Damn, why is Kaden not answering my calls” Sherlyn groaned as she failed to connect with Kaden.

The phone rang, but the man declined to answer it.

Eveline, too, attempted to contact Gabriel, and to their relief, he responded.

“Gabriel, where are you both,” she inquired, only to hear his gruff voice at the end.

“We are on our way,” he said, swiftly terminating the call, leaving Eveline bewildered.

She wondered if they found Luke, and while she was thinking, the door to the base flew wide, and Kaden stepped inside, carrying injured Luke, while Gabriel carried Bernard.

The two girls were taken aback by what they saw and dashed for help.

“What happened to him?” Sherlyn inquired, assisting Kaden with Luke as they carefully placed him on the couch.

Luke had some cut marks on his arms, but there was a big problem: he had been shot in the stomach and was bleeding.

Despite being injured, he managed to tackle Bernard’s men and prevent him from fleeing.

On the other side, Eveline assisted Gabriel with Bernard.

“We need to take him to the cell,” he continued, and she agreed before leading him away.

Kaden was pleased that he and Gabriel were able to find Luke at the appropriate time.

Despite being conscious for half of the journey, Luke abruptly lost consciousness.

“We need to treat him,” Sherlyn stated, and Kaden swiftly assembled a team to treat Luke.

While Luke was transferred to another room for treatment, Kaden waited patiently for his friend’s well-being.

Kaden was extremely proud of Luke for once again showcasing his worth as a responsible comrade.

And now all he wanted was for him to recover so that they could continue to fight hard to safeguard their country.

Eveline and Gabriel eventually joined them.

After an hour of waiting, the doctor finally emerged.

“I think we should let him rest,” Gabriel stated.

Luke truly needed a break before coming back stronger than before.

Meanwhile, the gang returned to the main area, where they took their positions on the couch.

Eveline spoke first, inquiring as to how they had found Luke; the latter proceeded to explain everything to them.

“That was a clever maneuver.

Jedrick anticipated we would find out about Bernard’s involvement with him, which he simply tried to hide, but failed.” Kaden explained.

“There is another thing we discovered,” Gabriel stated, capturing their attention.

“The real Bernard is dead and the one who is disguising him is Leonard” Eveline exchanged looks with Gabriel, who nodded, confirming his comments.

While combating the guards around the home, Luke came across something that piqued his curiosity.

Not only did he locate all of the illegal weapons stashed on the premises, but he also learned where they were going to be deported later.

“Leonard and Bernard are identical twins, but there is one difference between them: their eye color.

Bernard’s eyes were black, and Leonard’s were gray.

Eveline and Sherlyn both had a gaping expression.

“Yes, Bernard did have black eyes,” she said.

“Woah…

that’s a wacky plan to mislead us all along,” Eveline exclaimed, slumping back onto the backrest.

Her mind drifted over Gabriel’s doubt as she glanced at him.

Even Kaden and Gabriel were surprised when Luke revealed the truth, and to confirm it, they tested Bernard’s eyes, only to discover that he had contacts in his eyes.

Finally, the riddle surrounding the actual Bernard was revealed, which reinforced Gabriel’s suspicion that Jedrick was ahead of them.

“What if Jedrick’s comes to find about everything?” Eveline asked, bringing herself back to a straight position.

“I doubt he will, but we will leave him thinking about our motives” commented Kaden.

He had yet to alert the police about the firearms, but he changed his mind and decided to let Jedrick rack his brain this time because they would not hand over his consignment to the legal team.

There was silence between them, but Kaden cleared the air.

“I think you both should leave” “I’ll stay here with you,” Sherlyn stated before he chose to tell her the same.

On the walk to the house, Eveline spotted Gabriel’s clothes.

“Do you have a spare shirt in the car?” she inquired, making him glance at himself.

“Maybe in the trunk,” he muttered, and pulled over to the side of the road.

Eveline stepped outside and walked back.

Opening the trunk, she looked for a spare shirt but instead discovered a hood.

She quickly grabbed it and returned to the car, only to find Gabriel already shirtless.

“Here, wear this,” she said, offering him the hood, which he swiftly wore.

Gabriel noted Eveline’s acute observation of his body, attempting to figure out if he had wounded himself.

“Nothing has occurred to me.

“That blood belongs to Luke,” he continued, causing her to look at him and nod.

“I was concerned when Uncle Kaden refused to take Aunt Sherlyn’s calls.

“I thought something had happened,” she remarked quietly.

Eveline had previously communicated with them, but when they abruptly terminated the contact, she became concerned for their well-being.

Gabriel sighed and brought her into his arms.

“Everything is fine,” he murmured, placing a kiss on her head.

Eveline threw her arms around him, breathing in his powerful chest.

Her nervousness subsided before she eventually pulled back.

“Now, what’s next?” she questioned, her gaze fixed on his.

Gabriel paused for a bit before saying, “Let’s wait until Bernard wakes up.
