Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 36
Chapter 36: Little secret
Eveline gulped at the sight of the piercing eyes glaring at her, demanding an explanation.
Gabriel had dragged her out of the computer lab after he realized what Eveline was up to and now he wanted to know everything about the things she had been hiding from him.
Eveline drew in a deep breath and asked, “Why should I-?” as she fidgeted nervously behind her back.
Despite her immediate fear for Gabriel, she made an effort to appear brave. She had to keep this a secret from everyone; Stefan was the one who taught her all the tricks, so only he knew that she was an expert computer user.
It was nothing to slither into someone’s account, but before she could log out, Gabriel appeared out of nowhere, finding her secret.
“I am not going to say it again, Eveline. “I demand an explanation,” Gabriel interrupted her before she could finish her sentence.
Despite knowing Eveline for many years, he was unaware of her interest in hacking. It was shocking to learn about her other interest for someone so interested in studying and pursuing him; he was unable to process it.
Eveline sighed, feeling saddened by his warning, as she pursed her lips. She realized that she could not stop him, not when he caught her red-handed.
“All right, I will tell you the truth, but you will not dare tell Dad. I do not want to let him down in any manner.”
Gabriel rolled his eyes at her, perplexed as to why someone could be so cautious as to withhold something so important from her father. He was unable to flex because he knew about the pastime she had chosen to ignore her course.
“If you agree, then I will tell you everything, or else let me go,” Eveline commanded, staring at Gabriel.
Eveline’s intransigence was difficult for Gabriel to handle, but he complied with her demand in the hopes of learning the truth.
He broke the contented expression on her face and said, “Fine, I agree.”
“Brother Stefan taught me about hacking and a few more things related to computer technology,” Eveline said, fixing an anxious gaze on Gabriel.
Gabriel’s eyes grew cold; he never imagined Stefan would agree to help her in the first place, even though he expected him to be the one to do so. There are benefits and drawbacks to hacking any system. Experts can get away with it without being noticed, but beginners get trapped, and Eveline’s deft use of her skills to slip out of the account she logged into proved this.
“How much do you know about it and since when has Stefan been guiding you?” he asked, reaching into his pocket.
Gabriel wanted to make sure she revealed everything honestly without making things difficult for him now that he had the upper hand.
Eveline furrowed at his dominating tone and gritted.
“It has been a while,” she remarked, staring him in the frigid eyes.
Eveline detested the fact that Gabriel had discovered her little secret, which she had successfully kept hidden from everyone for many years.
But her extraordinary talent never quickly proved to be useful in establishing her innocence.
Was it ill luck or inattention that caused her to become sidetracked and ultimately lose control over her life?
‘I failed Brother Stefan somehow,’ Eveline thought, remembering how her father had asked her to give up her pastime after finding out about it.
Gabriel nodded his head in understanding, however, he was still upset with her for going against his words. Not that he expected her to follow him, but even as the girl she had been, he still anticipated that she would at least avoid it for the time being.
When Eveline noticed Gabriel’s silence, a question suddenly occurred to her and she asked, ” Why do you think Alex lied to us?”
His eyes darkened as her solemn voice abruptly pulled him out of his thoughts.
“Because he likes you,” he abruptly said, shocking Eveline with his declaration.
“WHAT?!” Gabriel’s mood soured even more when Eveline raised her voice.
It wasn’t the shock on her face that irked him, but the thought of Alex having bad intentions towards Eveline boiled his blood.

It is possible that Eveline was unaware that Alex had been following her around constantly. He monitored everything about her, from the time she left her house until she arrived home.
Gabriel would not have asked Stefan to learn everything there was to know about that boy if he had not been suspicious. But to their dismay, the boy was way more smart than he appeared.
They were never sure what he wanted from Eveline because of his cunning maneuvers, which kept them on edge all the time. Fortunately, he was unable to harm her in any way because Gabriel always had things checked up.
“You heard it right, Eveline. Another addition to your fan club” he responded sarcastically, causing the shock on her face to now replace with a frown.
“Are you making fun of me, Gabriel?” she inquired, taking offense at his statement.
Gabriel helplessly shook his head, but his expression changed when he heard the next words:
“Or you feel threatened that he could win me over.”
Eveline smiled as Gabriel gave her a chilly look. She allegedly provoked Gabriel to elicit a response from him. She is aware that it is stupid, but it makes her happy to see the smile disappear from his face in an instant.
Eveline was always perplexed as to why Gabriel was never won over by her and would instead do foolish things to get her attention. But she quickly understood why—he already had another woman on his mind.
The moment that memory struck Eveline, her eyes darkened, but before she could move past it, Gabriel grabbed her arm and pulled until their chests collided.
Eveline was caught off guard but the moment she realized how close Gabriel’s face appeared before her, she gulped.
“Don’t lower your taste in men, Eveline. Someone like Alex doesn’t deserve you.” Gabriel said keeping a firm tone.
Gabriel did his best to look composed, but he was clearly upset by her comment, as seen by the look in his eyes.
Eveline momentarily believed she saw a hint of efficacy in those eyes, but she quickly disregarded her perception and wriggled in his arm.
“I never knew you were covetous type. You denigrate every other man who shows interest in me simply because I no longer fancy you.”
“Ah!”
