Chapter 37: What did you do to her

Gabriel quickly turned Eveline’s arm behind her back and pushed her up against him. She was nearly knocked down by his scorching breath as it swept across her face.

“W-What are you doing?” She stammered, the intimacy making her parched.

Gabriel was so annoyed with the way she kept calling names that he couldn’t stop himself from losing his cool.

He held Eveline in the highest regard and refused to allow any other man to harbor any bad intentions toward her.

It was established that Alex desired to possess Eveline in a way that only a psycho would after seeing his eerie maneuver. And there is no way he would let her go to him without any protection.

“Say that word again and I will kiss you,” Gabriel blurted out, without giving it any thought. His eyes lingered on her plump lips as he became tempted by them.

Eveline slightly parted her heart-shaped lips as she gaped at hearing his demeaning words.

Yes, she thought it was repulsive that he had shut her down with them.

She did not grow up with a Gabriel who would impose himself on her to get her to obey him. However, that was all she knew about him because all she did was focus on his positive traits and ignore his flaws.

Eveline allowed herself to be embarrassed by Gabriel because she was so deeply in love with him. However, she has changed, and there is no way that she would accept those demeaning remarks from him.

“If you say that again, I will punch your face,” she uttered while clenching her teeth.

Gabriel was stunned at first, but a smile appeared on his lips. He did not know why he was happy with Eveline’s sudden change. He would be rendered speechless every time she dared to approach him fiercely. But this behavior was entirely new to him and he was quite liking it.

On the other hand, Eveline frowned as she saw Gabriel grinning at her without hesitation. She pondered whether her remarks truly caused him to go insane or if this was just his usual, blatant behavior.

“Have you lost your mind? Why are you smiling?” Eveline couldn’t help but ask.

Even though he had a nice smile, this was not the right moment for him to flash those teeth. They were engaged in a heated argument and here he was losing his track.

After a while, Gabriel’s smile faded and he gave Eveline a gentle pat on the head, saying, “All right, let us stop fighting and go to the cafeteria.”

Eveline furrowed and refuted right away.

“I will not accompany you,” she replied, taking a step away from him.

Despite her hunger, Eveline declined to accompany him, only to get embarrassed before him the next moment.

Eveline blushed with embarrassment as she watched Gabriel suppress his chuckles and drag her out of there in a hurry.

They quickly went back to the cafeteria where they discovered Stefan and Daniel were still seated.

“Eve!” Daniel yelled, as soon as he noticed Gabriel and Eveline approaching.

Daniel gave up his seat to her, took the other, leaving his brother behind, and asked, “Eve, is it true that Tiffany deliberately slandered you?”

Gabriel sighed warningly as he turned to face Stefan, who shrugged back before sitting down next to him.

In defense, Stefan muttered, “Dude, you know your brother is smarter than he appears.”

Gabriel gave him a brief glare before averting his eyes to the side.

“Danny, let her eat something first,” Gabriel said and he quickly passed her the sandwich Stefan had just reached to take a piece from.

“Here, eat this. I will get something more for you to eat,” the boy said, ignoring the others as he hurried to the counter to place the order.

With a pitying look, Eveline bit off a small piece of the sandwich, and Stefan swallowed as he watched her enjoy it.

“That is okay, I will have something else.” With an awkward smile, he turned to face Daniel and gestured at him, but the boy ignored him and concentrated on giving him an order.

“I will go grab something,” he said, pulling away to leave Gabriel and Eveline by themselves.

Gabriel silently observed Eveline eat the food while she dipped the whole piece into the sauce until he smudged around her lips.

Don’t know what got into him and he reached his hand to clean the sauce off her lips shocking everyone present there.

“…”

“Slow down, the food is not going anywhere,” he said, returning to his normal position.

Eveline stilled at the touch of his thumb over her lower lip and slowly gulped the food. She suddenly began to feel hot along with the slight racing of her heartbeat.

She experienced a severe mental blow in the course of fifteen minutes, and she will never forget it. She was left with a racing heart.

Gabriel, however, scoffed at her dumbfounded expression and turned his head to see Stefan and Daniel approaching them again.

“Breathe Eveline, or else Daniel would take the entire thing the wrong way.” Gabriel whispered leaning closer to her ear only to choke her with the fan of his hot breath.

COUGH! COUGH!

Eveline violently coughed startling the two boys who quickly ran to her side.

“Brother, what did you do to her?” Daniel snapped shooting his furious eyes at Gabriel.

Eveline sneaked a glance at indifferent Gabriel and sneered.

“It’s okay Danny, nothing happened. I merely choked on my food” Eveline said with a groggy voice.

“Here drink this” Stefan passed her soft drink bottle and she quickly took a sip from it feeling the uneasiness in her throat sooth.

As they settled down on their respective seats, Daniel brought up the topic to ease the atmosphere around the table.

“So have you decided which sports you all are going to take part this year?” His eyes looked at the three expectantly.

“I’ll be skipping tug of war” Stefan raise his point recalling Gabriel’s warning.

Daniel nodded and then turned his gaze towards Gabriel, “You brother?” He asked.

Gabriel thought for a while before turning his gaze towards Eveline and asked.

“What games you plan on taking this year. I would go with them”

Eveline:”…”

Daniel:”.…”

Stefan:”…”

This time all three choked on their food.
