Rebirth of Billionaire's Wife - Chapter 375
Chapter 375: I want to ruin you
A deafening silence pierced through Mischelle as she sat alone in the dimly lit room, her mind drifting toward Ella and the words she had spoken on the call.
“Will she come looking for me?” she muttered, hoping Ella had understood the desperation in her voice earlier.
As she waited for the call to come again, the door suddenly flung open.
Mischelle flinched at the sight of Jedrick’s brooding eyes, her body tensing as she slowly adjusted herself in her seat.
“Where did you go?” he asked, his voice laced with a deadly calm that sent a shiver down her spine.
Her eyelashes fluttered, and for a moment, her heart nearly sank into her stomach. Fear clawed at her insides, but she refused to let it show.
She remained silent.
Jedrick’s fury darkened.
“Mischelle, I asked you something,” he snapped, his patience wearing thin. In a swift motion, he grabbed her chin, forcing her to meet his piercing gaze.
Tears welled in her eyes, her lips quivering, but she held her ground. She wanted to see just how far Jedrick was willing to go to hurt her, to break her.
But then, as the first tear slipped down her cheek, something shifted. The darkness in his eyes wavered.
“Hey, why are you crying?” he asked, his voice unexpectedly soft, catching her completely off guard.
Mischelle’s breath hitched. It was the first time she had seen him act out of character, the first time his voice carried anything other than cruelty.
She blinked, bewildered, staring up at him as if he were a stranger.
Then, to her utter shock, he sat beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her close to his chest.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you,” he murmured, smiling, but it was a smile laced with malice.
Mischelle stiffened. She knew better. She knew this man was a wreck of contradictions, a twisted enigma. Believing his words would be foolish.
“Jedrick, why are you doing this?” She choked out, the weight of her tears breaking her restraint.
Jedrick looked down, his dark eyes boring into hers. Slowly, he reached out, wiping away her tears before cupping her face. His hold was firm, unyielding, making Mischelle’s stomach churn with unease.
“Because I want to ruin you,” he said, his voice cold and deliberate.
Mischelle’s breath hitched, her face draining of color. The horrifying incident from the past came rushing back, flooding her mind like a tidal wave. Her entire body went rigid.
Jedrick watched her for a few moments before breaking into a chilling smile.
“You misunderstood me, sweetheart,” he murmured, his fingers caressing her cheek, though his eyes remained eerily fixed on hers.
“We had an agreement,” he continued, his voice deceptively smooth. “And now, you’re trying to act smart by defying my orders.”
His expression darkened, his lips twitching in amusement at her foolish attempt to seek help from their daughter.
“But you know what?” he mused, tilting his head. “I can be merciful. Even if Ella finds out you’re here with me, you can always explain everything to her. Isn’t that right, darling?”
Mischelle stared at him blankly, her heart hammering in her chest. Yes, she was his wife now.A decision made in a moment of weakness, driven by fear of losing the people Jedrick had threatened to harm.
A single choice, made in desperation. A choice that had cost her everything.
Mischelle couldn’t decipher what Jedrick was thinking, but his words had been chillingly clear when he threatened to kill Ella if she didn’t obey him.
He had taken full advantage of her fears, showing her a video of a man pointing a gun at Ella. The sight alone had been so triggering that she had dropped everything, making the impossible choice to marry Jedrick.

She knew the truth would shatter Ella, but it was necessary. She couldn’t bear to watch her daughter die right before her eyes.
But she had made one fatal mistake: underestimating Jedrick. A cunning man like him would manipulate anything and anyone to keep his twisted game in play.
“Now tell me,” Jedrick’s voice sliced through her thoughts, yanking her from her trance. “Why would you leave when I told you not to?”
Mischelle took a steady breath, forcing herself to regain composure.
“I went to buy my medicine,” she said, her voice even as she gestured toward the envelope resting on the side table.
Jedrick’s eyes flicked sharply toward the envelope before darting back to Mischelle.
“Well then, you’d better take them and rest. You look like a mess right now,” he said flatly before standing up and striding out of the room.
The moment he closed the door behind him, one of his men hurried over.
“Boss, someone came looking for Lady Mischelle.”
Jedrick’s lips curled into a sinister grin. Without a word, he made his way downstairs.
As he stepped onto the last stair, his eyes landed on Ella.
She stood at the entrance, her gaze burning with fury as she watched him approach.
“Where is my mother, Mr. Denovan?” Ella demanded, completely disregarding any formalities, cutting straight to the point.
Jedrick remained nonchalant, as if her accusation didn’t faze him in the slightest. But deep down, he was intrigued.
She wasn’t pretending. She hadn’t played dumb or feigned ignorance.
She had come straight to confront him. And that… was interesting.
“Ella,” Jedrick said smoothly, his smile unwavering, only fueling the rage simmering inside her.
At first, she had believed he had kidnapped Mischelle. But the fact that he was keeping her here in his house made his intentions all the more suspicious.
“Please, have a seat,” Jedrick offered, gesturing toward a chair.
Ella didn’t budge.
“I asked you something, Mr. Denovan,” she snapped, her tone sharp. “Where is my mother, and why is she here in the first place?”
Jedrick realized it was useless to say anything and soon he asked one of his staff to bring Mischelle down.
Ella remained silent as she observed the person ascend the stairs, where she presumed her mother was. Before long, she caught sight of her.
The anxiety within her chest gradually dissipated, and a wave of relief enveloped her completely.
“Mom,” she muttered as soon as Mischelle stood in front of her but instead of responding, Mischelle turned and walked to stand next to Jedrick, leaving her completely shocked.
